How do you know if those people were Supporters of Prop 8 or Against Prop 8?

You may have been hook-line-sinkered by people conducting PsyOps.  People of one side will often to go the opposing side's (or just conduct one with themselves) protest and take on an aggressive, extremist or act dumb approach to discredit the opposing side.  Those haters may have very well been people from your side.

An example would be from the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment).  There was one event in which some women were out "protesting" against the ERA and to add to their support had homemade pies and food available to anyone.  Their belief was that the ERA would destroy the value of the family unit.  Well that seems all fine and dandy, until this one guy comes on over and starts talking about how a woman's place is best staying at the home, cooking food and being a baby factory, nothing more; and while doing so uses vulgar language for emphasis.

Could that guy be conducting PsyOps?  He could be someone who does support the ERA and being a male, has credibility if acting as a supporter against the ERA. (Another take could be a women who is against the ERA, joins a Pro-ERA event and shouts out at anyone who is against the ERA are just a bunch of (insert vulgar names based on gender here)).

At the conclusion of that incident, it is not the other people that may have been talked to, the pies or other food that are remembered, only the one jerk and his sexism viewpoint.  And thus leaves an impression that all supporters who were against the ERA are sexist jerks.

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

I don't think that the state just calling them all something else is going to cause any problems.  Everyone is given something like a Civil Union, or whatever neutral thing it's called.  Then everyone can be happy and that word marriage isn't used as far as the government is concerned.
I bet you though that even if the word marriage were taken out of the equation, there would still be a large group of people who fight it.  They just do not want us to have any equality.  They want us to feel like second rate citizens in everything we do.

I'm quite sure there will always be unequal treatment. Just as with discrimination based on all ethnic groups is still going on to this date. That is how we are wired, we have our tolerances, likes and dislikes, hates and loves, strengths and faults, injustices and justices. Would be nice if the term "stigma" never existed. But you have yours, I have mine and others with theirs, we deal with them.

Yes, even if the word marriage was removed there will be opposition on both sides. One extreme side defending in that there should be no compromise to religious beliefs and traditions, the other extreme side believing that the compromise is not good enough, there must be 100% validation, nothing less. And then all other factions falling inbetween somewhere.

    And that is why...

They must be some pretty persuasive Psyops then, because they had the power to convince the whole other side (a crowd well over 400 people I'm sure) that they needed to all chant messages of where gay people are all headed.

I've seen some of the reports of those planted people at various protests.  But this was a very large crowd of people.  Hundreds of people.  It wasn't just a couple of people dispersed here and there trying to get something started.

Because of those human tendencies to want to form a majority pack and roll over the minorities, our founding fathers were smart enough to put legal precautions in our Constitution to prevent this from playing out.

Mass. just took this to the Supreme Court either today or yesterday from what I heard from someone.  It's not going to be tolerated legally.  Because this type of discrimination and unequal treatment under the law is not allowed.

Believe it or not those legal precautions are there to protect you too.  Who knows what the future holds.  It could hold a time when Christians are the minority and there are groups that want to take away their rights of worship.  At that time I will stand up again and follow the Constitution.  Because I don't want any group in this country to be trampled on just because they are a minority group.

You didn't shoot down anything.  You simply sat back and demanded other people to do studies and form opinions and then use that as your argument.  I don't deal with people that can't think for themselves.  I've posted my thougts and left it at that.  The venom is coming from you and others at this point.  I'm not worried about my viewpoints either.  All my friends share the same sentiment so I'm definatly know that I'm not alone.

The real irony is all the hate.  Coming from both directions there is so much hate.  The bigger person would chill out and respond in an even mannered tone and accept the knowledge that some people no matter what will never agree with certain viewpoints.  What do we get from you and others?  Hate and name calling when you can't accept those facts that others don't like that lifestyle and never will.

    Hate, lots of hate.

When a piscating wizard floods every thread I can understand why people leave.

Given that Prop 8 became a passionate measure for people, I have no doubts that large groups could be organized to conduct PsyOps.  But I will agree there are bad elements to both sides.  The Anti-Prop 8 side had theirs as well, handing out the private residence addresses of Prop 8 supporters... heck the website of the "black list" is still up I believe.

You will need to draw the line somewhere, there cannot be complete Equality for all under one government.

Should we then allow Islamic practices of polygamous marriages?  After all they are of a "minority" group in the US.  If same-sex marriages are to be allowed for one minority to be considered equal, then polygamous marriages should be accepted as well.  To not do so, we then favor one minority over another, or in other words, discriminate.

Where does the line get drawn?

What the people of Massachusetts do and want is for them to decide on.  The court system of Massachusetts does not impact California.  If anything, this means there is a state in which people can choose to move to that is along their lines of beliefs.  That is what allows states to be states and not as districts of one federal government.  The Founding Fathers never intended for the Federal Government to become the size and power it has become today.

And speaking of Islamic practices, how are things going over at the Netherlands with polygamy these days?
