this is a patch not an expansion. By believeing it is just further feeds into Tasos' plan to milk the current player base of money untill they eventually pull the plug

Apperhently, you care what it's called, unless you wouldn't constantly be defending Tasos unethical choice to call a simple patch and update an "expansion".

The overwhelming majority of the mmorpg community know this is not an expansion, but you can go ahead and be a fanboi if you like, we expect nothing less from you..!!

heh well the funny part is a crossword puzzle is far more entertaining then the spamm left click zergfest that DFO is. Also a cw puzzle requires you to think which is something you haven't been doing for quite some time

What the hell does his gaming skill have to do with whether it's a patch or an expansion?. Another rage-o-holic who just can't resist taking pot-shots at others. Grow up.

Speaking on a smaller scale I think the random boxes are a good thing.

Just last night traveling between two cities with nothing on me by the time I got near my travel location I had 300g on me from the boxes. Someone did chase me down but as it turns out I was too close to the city.

Point being, it slightly reduces the chance that a naked will actually have nothing whatsoever on them.

That said, I think they are having the random placements a bit too close to the NPC cities. Might be better if they block out those area of from random.

Seanmcad, are you seeing more people when you run around outside the citys? I am curious if this patch/expansion is bringing more people out?

it is my feeling that it is, HOWEVER, I think a great deal of people are doing exactly what I was doing which is trying to find one of these new villages to just take a look.

What I noticed last night (and its far from a scientific study!) is that the pop inside the cities was about the same but the pop out in the general world was higher.

I personally vill not trust what these Darkfall players say, until I see real evidence of this.

Ok, despite my efforts I cant help but respond to this.

Exactly how could one "proove" it in the first place?

Speaking for my comment personally I made it pretty clear i would not call what I said a "fact" its just what seemed to be. Regardless, its something that AV could only "proove" so I guess you are out on this game.

Believe his words, it's true, there is a lot more pvp going on outside cities, even my clanmates and allies have been saying that ever since the patch was released. You may not trust me because I like darkfall but I try not to exaggerate things like a normal fanboy.

Happened to WAR when they added in the missing classes.

The village system seems to have started a lot more skirmish wars going on now. Title quests have given the soloers something to do to advance. Mob changes i havent experienced much, other than fighting gnolls which seem easier but drop the same.
Overall a pretty positive patch thats added lots more pvp. Can only be a good thing. hope they continue this progress now!

With what I highlighted in red. Would this not weaken the idea of full loot? Since there really is no other penalty for dying, except losing your gear and money. With the new crafting system, easier mobs, and more drops from them. I would hope that Aventurine would do something to make death a little more painfull.

I know that there were a lot of players that would run naked most of the time and this may stop that, but in the process it weakens one of the main features of the game. At least in my opinion.

    Thoughts?

I'd like to ditto this, of all the DF fans, I trust his statements, he's been the most fair to both sides and has brought up both the good and the bad in previous threads.

Honestly, it just doesnt matter. And to think that what the devs are delivering now is considered an expansion is a very silly impression; its nothing more than hot fixes for things that were either broke or mal-designed.

This is not an expansion and never was.  The proper terminology is hot-fix.  The reason why there is substantially less activity on the main DF forums and responses to "polls" is not that people are playing, but that those so voistrous about being mislead by Aventurine are banned and/or aren'tplaying this experiment any longer.

Dont kid yourself; full loot or not, we know that not only is the EU server in severe decline, but the NA customers see that there are better gaming options than that of a small company trying to scam their marks.

Sadly, that's probably right. AV's censoring of their own forums sets new standards for censorship....say anything remotely negative about the game, even in a constructive way, and the thread is locked or deleted within moments.

    Sad really.

  • wyrdaskolirwyrdaskolir Member UncommonPosts: 563

Yeah I wish the df forum mods would let people express their negative opinions as well. In one of their news updates in the past, AV mentioned that the forums would be more heavily moderated. I guess this is what they mean

If you have seen one or two of my raging threads that were locked a few weeks ago then you wouldn't think the same. Kinda regret starting those now

And it is highly unlikely they will post anything on it.

Therefore, there is no real change.

    * PvE isn't completely fixed, but it was a leap in the right direction. Most mobs have had their HP reduced, most mobs have had raw gold dropped increased by at least 25%, but the "hard mobs" (using the exploiter system of difficulty) didn't have their loot touched and some appear to not have had their HP touched as well.

    * Player housing added a lot of fluff which is good

    * Title quest add another dynamic to the game by forcing diversity a bit

    * Magic has been balanced somewhat but not completely balanced. Unburden has been "nerfed" (balanced) and encumberance now plays a larger role. Basically, you can't ware full plate anymore and be good at magic becuase the penalty is higher than pre patch. Good change

    * Village system has a few kinks to work out but is a boon to small scale PvP reguardless of what the anti-zergers say. Tomorrow's patch could tweak it again. One tweak that should be made is to put all the villages in the game on the same timer by giving them a 30min vulnerability time to take over. Instead of being vulnerable every 6hrs make it every 5.5 hrs.

Over all patch rating 7.5/10 probably 8-9 if tomorrow's weather system is good and the "outstanding" issues include some of the player's complanits.

There's more activety because people are out checking wich mobs have been adjusted, looking for chests, and trying to get and use deeds for houses.

It's no dif. then when any other game releases a large content patch, the first week or two are always a little more active then normal.

The patch didn't change the game.

The core mechanics are all the same as before.

    The grind is still there.

The melee combat is still there.

It's still the same game as before.

as a person who held off for the NA release (seems like a great idea now) is the game in a more playable state due to this patch?

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I'm not sure how they fixed the villages system or the title quests? i didn't notice them in game before so i couldn't comment on how they were broke. My understanding is that they were not even in the game and therefore were Additions and not fixes but i could be wrong :)

As for the EU on severe decline. that sounds absurd. so noticing more people and more pvp shows that the game is in decline? dont quite get that one :) i'm not saying it's not just a temp thing, but it sure aint a decline :)

Polls? if you ask who is playing in a poll you must surely get more responses from players that are in the forums? and not so many from players playing the games? again i could be wrong :) I am active on the forums due to my job...but do you really think i spend 5 mins on a forum when i have spare time at home? not a chance...i'm playing the game.

But again who cares other than non players whether it is labeled a "expansion" or a "patch" or whatever else? it's just a label, get past it!

  • RemainsRemains Member UncommonPosts: 375

Another interesting thing about this expansion/patch imo, is what was NOT fixed with the game: the classless, skillbased system.

In other words; is there still no softcap, and no skill decay? Everyone can still be a kickass melee berserk/master archer/arch mage, only time spent grinding/macroing is the limit to how many skills people got maxed?

To me this is a pretty serious flaw, strange that they are not adressing it. Or they consider it to "work as intended" maybe?
