It's not on the site but but the preorder blocks are full up to block E. You'll have to wait a couple of months for access. No word on this on the page where you can pay. LoL.

It's called beta... you test parts of it first, then more parts later.  The game has not been 100% revealed as of yet... calm down before you jump off the wagon.

Stop spreading your lies about the game.  While obviously in need of work, nearly everyone can see promise, otherwise you'd hear horror stories all over the place.  Do you?  No.  After all, it's closed beta.   You're going to have issues when allowing several thousand to bombard your server all at the same time.  It happens to EVERY game in beta.

If you just paid for access you fail anyway... it's a "true" beta - the game is nowhere near its release state.

I guess many people already forgot what betas really are.

  • prull09prull09 Member Posts: 30

    Sure,

So there is this beta, which you can access if you pay for the game that doesn't exist yet. So they say, you pay for the none existing game and maybe you can enter the beta.

What are beta's about? Testing! Mass testing in open beta!

What is this closed beta about? Making masses preoder the game without any background information. Period.

Nice way to pay for your testing environment. Brainwashed peeps in here think they are doing this beta setup to get the game launched sooner. Get out a little more!!!! Damn.

And sure it can be an AWESOME game at launch. We ain't talking about their final product here, no , it's about how you attract, update and communicate with your new paying customers.

Very weird setup indeed. But hey, if you like it, we're just saying this setup is really icky.

Even if it would be considered an early alpha by some, I didn't pay for testing / previewing, I purchased a game, with ideas and a concept which attracts me VERY much and which I hopefully will enjoy to the fullest at launch, whenever that might be.

SV has been very clear on the unfinished state of the game at this time and people shouldn't get their hopes up too much. There still is a whole lot of developing to do (which is perfectly fine with me).

Long ago developers have posted to the forums announcing that game will be tested in seperate pieces and what people will see will always be part of the game, including the terrain, mobs, features etc.

Wheather the game will take longer then expected or not, it is not known by anyone, but you are free to rant about it of course

Very smart move on the dev's part actually. They knew people would pay for chance to get into the Beta so they decided hey... a little more funding would be nice....

+2 to the devs for getting some extra capital.

Maybe they dont want thousands of people playing that are not there to test the game but there just for a free trial and then posting NDA breaking you tube videos and forum post. I dont know why but I think its a good idea to have the people who actually are willing to purchase the game be the ones who beta test it.

Lots of games make you pay for their testing environment. Starcraft II is going to have a closed beta. that's an example of a non MMORPG game. LOTRO made a closed beta for people who had pre-ordered the game. Just like I did.

Lots of games do this. It's the norm. We paid the money, we get extra bonuses.

Yep, there's near no game there right now. Everyones naked (Literally), and running around with very elementary things. This is mostly to test Game Environment, crashes, and server problems.

Block B is likely to test High server load problems, interactins with players, crafting (since it will really be usable at that point, with more people), and begin testing PvP possibilities.

And as more Blocks come, and more updates come, they'll unlock more and more parts of the game.

You don't honestly think 3 Gigs of data was used to make just the shell they released, do you? There's parts they made the server restrict access to. Just like most Beta's.

you're good at guessing, and speculating as you don't know anything. You could have said the same things for any game released as they were incomplete even at release

buzz wrong. LotrO did a closed for a few months, which was after there internal beta testing done by professional tester. LotRO did NOT have pre ording until the end of the Closed beta cycle, which gave people the chance for an early access OPEN beta, which in that  OPEN beta after the early access, EVERYONE could download and try the game DURING the OPEN beta.

AT NO TIME DID LOTRO MAKE ANYONE PRE-ORDER A GAME TO TRY IT or TEST IT.

LotrO CB was random. you either got in , or you didn't.

Developers have never lied about the beta process. They told the audience from the start that testing will be a real testing process and it will mainly be a stress test, there will not be a regular game world to play on etc. And preorders are just preorders with the ability to login to test servers.

As about people speaking about lack of professional testers, how do you know? If they let normal people to login to the servers, won't there be slots for professional testers to login? Will it prevent professional testers to do their job? Why are you reaching conclusions without even thinking?

Yes, of course developers decided to get money as early as they can, they have communicated very well with the community and openly. Everyone following the forums know exactly what to see. More important part is the pace things goes forward. If everything stays the same for two months, then it will be a sign for delay about release

Asyou read that Acess EARLY access, of the OPEN beta. There was no such thing as access to CLOSED BETA, but thanks for posting that cause it proves my point. Also the Early access for OPEN beta , you character carried over into to release. Again thanks for posting that llink , it helped me cement my point.

Oh well it can happen when you scim over a post you don't really care about.

Ok I just got back from the MO forums.

When you don't have a publisher or billions of dollars as an existing company where do you think funding comes from for a massive project like an MMO?

It comes from investors, or fans and that is all.  They needed money, and there are fans who would gladly support the project and pay them money, and those same fans are much more likely to help shape the game into something that the fans and devs would both enjoy and be satisfied with.

You would prefer they just release the game in an unfinished state because they ran out of money and lie to us ala Darkfall just so you can cry and act emo on the internet?  Maybe you do, but I prefer for honest devs to ask for money to help beta test their game and be completely honest and open about the state of the beta and the game.

If you paid expecting a finished game that you could dive in and start having insane fun then I agree you're crazy.

Paying because you believe in the devs and want to help them out while helping shape the game knowing it's basically an Alpha sounds perfectly normal to me.  It's the idiots telling these people how to spend their money that are crazy, and annoying as hell.

Then there is block A. People currently in block A (online now) say there is no game to talk about. MO is not ready by a long shot. But sure, throw money at them if you like that :"D

Interesting. I doubt the game will be released this year though unless the devs decide to cut off content in half and later patch like there is no tomorrow.

i havent seen anyone post who is later than C block.  i could be wrong, but i highly doubt D block is full yet.  maybe with the new DD it is... but *shrugs*

i payed my money, i get to help shape a game.  cry all you want about professional testers, ive seen a TON of help already posted by average gamers on how to fix client side issues ect.

  • NeosaiNeosai Member Posts: 401

Well, pre-order this doesn't necessarily make them crazy.  It they just have money to spend on it is all.

There is no SOE life support for the people, and the money they got from the beta testers will be the last money they would see.

I think MO knows this, that is why we are seeing these outrageous prices, they are making up for the loss they already know that will come from a poor beta program and poor user circulation / or positive word of mouth of the title

Lol, if someone quits the game based on beta I will be glad that they did, especially if they have already bought the game I can understand maybe people that stopped playing the game while beta is going on and checking every once in awhile but the people that are in beta thx to the pre order I highly doubt they will quit on a whim.

Already going back to prices thought you trolls got that outta your system by now, No one knows what will happen with the game it may sink it may soar and if the foundation that I have seen is followed by as much passion as the rest of the game I believe this game will soar.
