I always find it dissapointing when this happens. Why can't people just accept people have different tastes in games, let them play what they want and leave it at that, this is just as bad as "My daddy is better than your daddy", its so childish. Every single time.

I created this post on the Champions Online forum...if this were to be considered a "flame" post on Aion...I'd imagine I'd first have to be on the Aion forums...seeing as I am not, I will go all out. I played both betas and do feel that Aion cant sniff anyone's dirty undy's...the game is linear, non-replayable and as touted as it's combat system was made to be, it was slow, repetitive and lame. I'm not asking you to agree with me...Im telling you that that is how I feel.
If the only reason you came to post was to tell me that you didn't like my post then you might want to find a hobby or something cuz you have way too much time on your hands.
On a side note, I noticed someone mention that the graphics in Aion are better than CO's graphics....I think that is an opinion that will differ throughout because the two graphic styles are worlds different. I also think that the character movement and environmental interactions are much more fluid and "correct" in CO. The graphics, for me, are much better in CO, but it's a style thing...although I must say that I've never liked cell-shading until playing this game.
In the end, what I'm really trying to do is give CO the hype it deserves. It's an excellent game and the first satisfying beta I've ever played(did LOTRO, MxO, Aion, Fallen Earth, WAR and a few others I cant remember). During all those betas I immediately realized the problems with each game, and to no surprise to myself, months after release, these games were failing because of some of the things I had pointed out. Fallen Earth and Aion havent come out yet, but Im sure the comments I made on those will be reasons they fail....and please dont bring up the fact that there are 3.5 million subs in the eastern part of the world....Im talking about pass/fail in the western world, seeing as our tastes(for most people) differ immensely when it comes to successful MMORPGS.
LOL...sorry for the smack talk, but Im so tired of Aion fanbois talking that game up....anyway... Im in closed beta and let me say that Champions Online is an amazing game so far. Id go into further detail, but I dont want to go against cryptic's wishes. It's a fresh new experience that, although can be compared to other games in small bits, cannot be tied to any game(or group of games) altogether...very unique, immersive and enjoyable. They've sold me
Super hero games suck as much as sci fi, and have fun with your pvp, fighting other good guys and npcs sounds like fun (not really).
I love how you're saying that like it's a fact. Ignorance.

Champions online is a pve game and Aion a pvp game, Aion wins everytime.
Honestly I found CO to be horrible. And lets not forget about the game changing micro-transactions ... that's some good stuff right there ... *Vomit*. Best bet is to stick to CoH (or pick up AION :P) and await DC.
You gonna quote reasons for that logic? Or just spout that something's horrible without any basis whatsoever.
And how long are people going to have to remind the community that RMT's are for cosmetic items exclusively, all of which can be obtained through regular gameplay. So get over it. Sorry you could never afford to get a perm and glamour shots, and that's made you bitter to everyone else who could. But the fact remains, I'm pretty sure that new hairstyle, and flashy outfit wouldn't help anyone win a fight.
Neither will anything obtained from the Cash Shop in CO.
Find a better reason to bash the game, and I might be with you. Spout retardation because of gamer elitism and you'll come off like an ignorant moron every time.

Well two things...
1) The game can be horrible for them and nobody else. Games are a form of art and a subjective experience. So personal reason(s) don't exactly equate to mass logic.
2) I'm not sure if the NDA that some may or may not have agreed to is still in effects.

Champions allows you to level up through pve and pvp, im not sure if Aion does. That was the turning point for me.
Aion doesn't even come close to a game I would like to play (right now). Superheroes always are better then Fantasy. If I wanted to play GOOD PvP I would play WAR.
Either you like super heroes, or you like fantasy.
Aion and Champions online arent competing with each other. They are comming out at the same time to server 2 different audiences, geez people need to realize that every new MMOs isnt supposed to just kill the previous or the next, they are supposed to coincide with each other.
That must jsut be an american thing, just that greed, the game just cant be successful, it has to crush the competition.

A good arena, yes, which includes pvp. That to me is not good PvP.

Rubbish, nonsense and hooha!
Some players (eg. me) play all genres. There are three games coming out in September in three different genres, and at different times I've wanted to play each of them.
Fallen Earth is post-apocalyptic. I was interested in that game for a long time, until the devs made a few core gameplay changes that killed my interest.
Champions Online is superhero. I was interested in that game from the second I heard they were making it. Then the MTs got added....
Aion is fantasy. I looked at that a couple of weeks ago when I gave up on CO. It's good for what it is, and of the three is now my preferred option.
Stargate Worlds (science fiction) was initially due for release at the end of 09. Had they held to that release date, I would have played that over Aion and not because of the genre.
Take WOW for example. They successfully marketed that game to the general population - i.e. a lot of non-gamers. I played with many people in WOW who'd never played computer games before it - so they certainly weren't playing it because of the fantasy genre. And with the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films and a whole of bunch of Marvel and DC movies released over the past decade, both fantasy and superhero have equal representation in popular culture.
It'd be true that some players prefer a particular genre, but a lot also don't care, so there is some degree of competition.
Aion doesn't even come close to a game I would like to play (right now). Superheroes always are better then Fantasy. If I wanted to play GOOD PvP I would play WAR.

Of Course I said WAR.
Which is indeed hilarious. Althogh I can't blame you for being so inane since anything looks great compared to the bang-up job Cryptic did with CoH/V's PvP.
Originally posted by chaod1984 1. No I'm not a troll 2. I've played both Aion and Champions Online 3. Why the hell would Champions Online be only a means to fund a game that will only appeal to a small crowd? As for Aion, take everything that Aion does(aside from the chain skills) and make it better, faster and for one particular thing, last much longer and you have Champions Online...I'd still say that if you want a PVP centered game, Champions might not be for you....but for all those PVE'ers you should at least give Champions a try. The character creation is THE BEST. It cant be beat only because of all the options you have. Travel skills are great, fighting is fast and fun(not as fast as a typical action game thought) and leveling up has come with some hard investment decisions as far as skills go, which was a breath of fresh air. This is coming from someone that COULD NOT play City of Heroes/Villains because I just didnt like any aspects of the game. Champions Online is DEFINITELY not City of Heroes 2.
First, I mostly agree with this post and am very glad it is NOT a CoH 2, as I hated CoH. Second, you are a bit off base thinking Star Trek Online will only appeal to a small crowd. If anything, the movie that just released a few months back should show you this. Although I do agree with the fact that no, this isn't a game to fund the development of STO. Hell STO is already over halfway done, what is left to fund?
Aion also sucked for me. I was bored beyond belief. I'm really excited to play Champions online.
I disagree. CO is the first MMO I've ever played where I enjoyed the combat so much I stopped tracking my exp, the foes level, how much loot I was getting, etc, and just had fun playing the game for the sake of playing it.
I'll admit my time in the game has been breif but I see no reason that will not be the case next time I log in as well.

I will play both. What now OP?
WARs pvp was so good that they lost 500,000+ players and had to close 63 servers.
You don't gain XP in PvP just AP. XP is from PvE Kills, crafting, gathering, and quests.
It's called an "NDA", perhaps you've heard of those?
And I think the second quote there sums up how you came off.
