That it is just fun to play? Feels right? How about that instead of ever-going trial like discussions you people create all the time? We enjoy our games, without listening to endless rants it is actually possible. For some people here, there will never be games to play... get over it. This is life, nothing is flawless. Call me a fanboy. We fanboys were actually able to submit quite a lot of bugs, that got fixed, ideas that got implemented.... so no, we do not need Doomsayars to save us. You approach has actually quite the opposite effects, not improving that much as you think. For everyone, do not listen to people. There are ways how try the game, do it! Instead of listening to others. People have different tastes and what imposes to one, might not be attractive to others. Simply trying will answer all your questions.
Apparently, simply trying won't answer any questions about the cash shop. What else about the game is hidden?
If you don't like people ansking questions about the game, why are you here?
"For everyone, do not listen to people." Does that include you?
I have no fear of the cash shop. I'm sure if something "ify" is introduced the populace of Champions will swarm the boards or they will answer with there wallets (leave the game).
He says in one part that using a 360 controller isn't supported; then goes on to say that using a 360 controller in PvP gives you a huge advantage.
I'm confused.
if it's not supported, how can it give you an advantage?
He uses the word officially. Does that mean you have to have 3rd party software to map to the controller?
He doesn't really clarify what's going on here, and leaves me with the feeling that he's only interested in giving as much negative information as he can.
plug in a 360 controller and use it. It works pretty well. Initially they claimed they would support it but late in beta they decided to give more than 7 power slots and that would require more buttons than they had mapped so they said it was no longer supported. It worked very well when I was playing but I never needed more than 7 buttons. YMMV.

Speaking about not listening to people on the forums might sound ridiculous, true.
But we should distinct facts from pure speculations based on personal bias. I came here to share my experience, real facts that I am willing to provide. Not speculations, arrogant behavior, name calling and spreading hate and personal asympathy for developers or people involved.

Something else I found odd in his review was that he says the zones are massive. Bigger then any zones he's seen before, but he says it like it's a bad thing.

No, you didn't get the thread of my post. The X-Box 360 controller mostly works. It was supported when closed beta began but by the end of closed beta Cryptic said it was no longer supported and you would use it at your own risk. They are not planning on updating any of the functions it has nor are they adding any new functionality to it. Future patches may break it.

THE REVIEW FROM THAT MAN IS MADE UP BS!, Cryptic please sue his azz. This man gives a review in riddles and he lies. I think some one just did this on purpose put away till NDA came off.
I think theres some confusion. Originally in Beta the 360 controller wasn't "officially supported" meaning they would not be taking bug reports on problems with mappings and other problems with the control. It was "supported" in the sense that it worked with the game.... but not in the sense that they were actively persuing troubleshooting with it.
Last week they changed the entire UI of the game and in addition, updated the mappings because a large playerbase complained that the 360 controller felt more naturla (and it does, I ONLY played with the 360 control) .... even simple things like movement felt pretty slow and clunky until you used the controller.
Overall though, this isn't a FPS, you don't need the accuracy of the mouse, there is no advantage to using the mouse and keyboard, and with the minor amount of powers needed for PvE (and sometimes PvP) mapping your powers was very simple. Keep in mind though, since friday, you still will not be able to do EVERYTHING with the 360 control.

I've been testing CO since September 2008, since the early days of alpha and a lot of the stuff from that review is true.
He's right about progression--there are only 5 zones total and the only variation in the leveling path is whether you go to Canada or the Desert after the tutorial. After that it's very linear as in you can only take one path. The zones are Millennium City, Desert, Canada, Monster Island, Lemuria.
a couple of things I want to add is that every character is a damage dealer that plays pretty much the same. Sure there are some slight variation in secondary power effects, for example: Darkness based powers add a fear effect, Might adds a stun, etc, but every character plays the same. You build up your endurance by pressing 1, wait until it builds and unload with your most powerful ability, preferably an AoE one. Rinse and repeat.
I like the pace of combat but dislike the fact that there really is no difference between the powers and the way different characters play. Like if you take a warlock in WoW, he will play completely different than a rogue or a death knight. In CO, if you pick Might, you'll play the same exact way as you would if you picked Fire. The only major difference would be your positioning to the mobs as Fire is ranged and Might is melee.
Ranged characters with Flight have an extreme advantage in PvP. Melee characters have to be in range to generate Endurance and it's hard to do with an opponent that's blasting at you from 20 feet up.
As far as quests go, it's basically WoW with a dash of WAR. Nothing new here. Most quests are either kill, collect or delivery. There are also some public quests but they are mostly uninspiring and buggy. One thing I have to say about quests is that while those in WoW manage to keep you entertained (at least in my experience) the ones in CO are a complete snoozefest and I found myself skipping the text altogether and just reading the objectives. The quests, after the tutorial at least, also manage to make you feel as unheroic as possible. Hope you like collecting fish and blood samples.
I like the art and the animations but hate the graphics. They are too bright and shiny in some places and completely dull in others. If you turn AA, they will become blurry.
Basically, Cryptic went out of their way to make a casual friendly WoW clone with super heroes then geared it towards the consoles by simplifying anything that required more than two neurons to figure out.

IMO this post is a result of how EASY the game is to pick up and run.
However, there is way more depth to it than that. The secondaruy effects play major roles in your character and the different types of powers you take in the future. NOT paying attention to the finer details of this game will make it seem bland, boring and ho hum. If yu put some time and effort into looking at what the powers do and what you can do to modify them and you get a much more fullfilling experience.
Creating multiple characters and playing them to level 10 will not show you this aspect of the game.
Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

I've tried multiple characters when Cryptic bumped everyone to 40 so that we could PvP. The game is easy to pick up and run because it has no depth. Yes, there are secondary effects but there is nothing intricate about them. Everything about the game has been as simplified as possible.
To give you an example, when Cryptic added restrictions to which powers can be chosen at which time, it was because they didn't want people to get confused. They even said so on the CB forums.
Look, you don't have to agree with me, I've stated my opinion as someone who has experience with the game. If it makes you feel better to think that CO has some hidden depth to it, who am I to tell you that you're wrong? It's all about opinions anyway.
I love the whole it's still in beta arguement where a beta is a game where all the features are in place and they're just polishing the game up. So if you don't like the game now you'll never like it and the game will not change between now and release.
Dude said in his review I had to read over, can not CC (Crowd Control) your way to end game O.O I laugh out loud. who believe this dude was in beta since December? who is this dude? This man had nothing good about CO NOTHING. If I was the head a Cryptic I would be mad as hell reading that BS.

Hold, stun, fear, knockup, knockback, knockdown, root (immobilize), confuse, sleep, placate, chill, taunt. There are probably a few others that I have forgotten. There are many different types of debuffs as well and some might be considered CC in some way.
