the physics in this title is very awesome and well thought out. I've been waiting for something like this for a while. Picking up objects and throwing them around, amazing.
What? Can everyone do that and so does that mean all superheros have superstrength?
I made a thread about the movement lag, but nobody replied. I was wondering if it was just my comp, or the game. Every time I press a direction (or jump) it takes 1 second to actually perform the action. It might be a minor issue, or not even an issue for some, but it's major for me. I can deal with this if it happens once in a while, but if this is how it is 100% of the time, that's pretty bad. I just feel that something as basic as movement needs to be really smooth, these days. I'm not trying to bash CO, because I haven't really played it. These delayed actions just really annoy me, and it ruins the whole experience of the game. I usually play for about 10-20 levels to decide whether I like a game, but if the controls suck, I just can't deal.
I have not experienced, nor has anyone I've talked to, the delay you'er referring to.

There are lower level objects that everyone can pick up, but huge things like cars need Super Strength.

Yeah, just about everyone can pick up a park bench or trash can and throw it. Very few can pick up a car or pull a light post out of the ground and throw it. I wish you could pull the light post out of the ground and use it as a bat. Now THAT would be fun! Albeit a royal bear to code for.
Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
All I can think is... CoX is better... The only thing CO has going for it, is that they have a decent crafting type system and is a bit more stat focused than CoX.. and people will like that. Plus it has Open Missions like Pubic Quests in Warhammer.. and I personally like that. I'm going to play for the rest of the week but so far I'm not convinced.. though it's still early and I'm very open minded when it comes to games.
And there are still people playing EQ and UO. Ya like what ya like. Just cuz there is a new shiney does not mean you HAVE to like it.
CoX series is one of those I had the longest subscription with. SWG being the only competitor in time from me.

The stronger you are the bigger item you can pick up...if your primarily a strength / Hulk sort of build you can pick up tanks if your more like say Iceman you can pick up chairs, tables etc. And yes there are tanks in the game and you can swing it like a bat...its rather destructive hehe.
As most of the Beta testers will tell you, this game is a wreck. This post is obviously a viral post from a CO employee.
'Nuff said.
NO it's by a new open tester who has only played the tutorial.
The game is FANTASTIC in those first 5 levels. It's only after a week or two and more extensive play that you realize it's not all it's cracked up to be and has some serious issues.
I've been playing longer than that, and am still enjoying it. Would you care to elaborate on the "issues". Just stating it has issues helps no one.
After playing for a bit more I'll be subscribing for the 6 month period. I sorta feel like I did when I started LOTRO. Albeit its way buggier then LOTRO was at release. That was probably one of the most beautiful releases Ive ever played through. I'm still having a really hard time picking what my mains going to be though. Ill probably settle for the brawler Im used to.

I got up through 20th in CB and was still having enough fun to sub for six months.
My bad. Sorry, Sol! This game is just so poorly thought out and coded, it's hard to believe that anyone other then a CO fanboi or employee would find ANYTHING good to say about it.
I agree, the only thing I ever enjoyed in CO was the character creation the rest just feels like cox

Its the game, not your system and its more like about 1/5 of a second. It was brought up many times throughout beta. I think its really just an animation lag more than anything else. I hope it gets tighter as they get a few patches out, but its not a deal breaker for me. I got used to it pretty quickly in beta and now I don't even notice it.
Yeah, you're right. It's not really 1 second, but you got what I meant. I've logged on a few times, and on different shards, and it's the same. It's definitely the game, and I can't deal with it, no matter how short the delay is. Good luck to everyone playing the game, and I hope you all enjoy it!

This issue is more critical to the success of Cryptic than MTs, Lifetime subs or their patching issues in beta. They really need to make sure the controls feel fluid and responsive, including the attacks. In my opinion, this is critical.
You can bash WoW all you want but one thing that game has down is the responsiveness and feeling of the controls. When you click an attack, the animations match it. The controls are fluid and intuitive. MMOs that fail in this, don't succeed. The most clear cut example is WAR.
Cryptic made CoH very smooth. Here's hoping CO at launch is the same.
I created some kind of gadgeteer and then fidgetted with hero design (haven't figured out how to apply colors very well yet, the linking and unlinking thing is a little bizzare).
Then I get into the game in the tutorial zone and I have to say I like it (although I hope they will let you skip tutorial when the real game starts, as I can see getting really tired of starting the same way).
I love that you can pick up stuff and throw it. That is nice. I haven't figured out my stats yet and what all they do and already I am picking "Gear". I am like "City of heroes didn't let me pick gear...how cool is this?" (Which is rhetorical, because that IS cool) I am not sure if Science Gear should some how stack with other Science Gear or what. My concept was a gadgeteer so I was doing mostly science stuff, but the mystic gear seemed nice too. Active blocking takes a little getting used too, but thats nice. (I'd like some automatic blocking since I don't have cyborg reflexes in real life). Haven't figured out the point of the two attacks I start with. It seemed sonic blast was all I needed for everything. The second attack a much shorter shot only seemed to come in handy as a secondary when I get swarmed. Its interesting not to even have a punch or something though. I am very stoked about this game. It has tons of promise. I am not at all concerned about the lifetime sub. This looks like a good start and they have plenty of room to expand. If at launch it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it looks like it will in time.
If you hold down the second attack, it charges up for major damage dealing. That is poorly ex[plained and took me awhile to figure out too.
When I finally got it, I Was like "OH COOL!! RE-ROLL!" and I started a new guy and this time I had so much more fun going through it. The melee combat wasn't as much fun to me as more of a sniper type.

Im very satisfied with the game so far. I already sub'd for 6 mo so Im in for 7 for sure. Rocks! Now I dont need to be bothered by lame games anymore.
