Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

From what I've seen and heard..

This might be a good game. Its got good graphics, looks like some bad ass guns, and reminds me ALOT of fall out 3. But, from what I've heard ppl crying about is RoF (rate of fire) is slow, its not Fps, and some other little nip-picky crap i didn't care much to read about. From what I see this will be a good game. I signed up for beta and ill post new thread when i get excepted.

Well i heard that the devs already said that the rate of fire was increased after the video because of negative feedback on the forum. So i guess that's one less "problem" to worry about.

If this is true at least they are listening to the fan base or potiential players.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

It has potential, but if they don't make it an FPS then they are going to fail hard. There's no excuse for locked targeting crutches of the past to follow it's way into Earthrise. It should be FPS based, even if damage is based off RPG skills.

Earthrise has no hardlocks like WoW or the like.

You'll have to manually aim with your crosshair to shoot at players. the only thing Earthrise will feature is a soflock-system, that makes it a little bit easier to follow your target with your crosshair.

does this game have the same old kill x rats quests?

No need to know anything else to tell if this will fail or not.

Because there are so many successful mmo-fps-rpg's right? Oh wait...

After playing huxley, I'd rather have a locked target system. There are major advantages to the hard lock system like reducing the effects of lag/latency, no hitbox issues, and no hacks based off hitbox(IE headshot bots). I think the locked targeting just evens the playing field a bit more.

The FPS style doesn't really take more skill. It usually comes down to knowing where people will be(IE best hiding spots) and latency. Don't get me wrong! I love my FPS games and will be getting MW2 and BFBC2 the day they release but FPS severely limits what other things a person can be doing since they have to constantly aim. This has been an issue for years with FPS games. You can't do much else besides the 1-6 and mouse buttons because you have to keep aiming/looking. So in a RPG environment where you add skills, abilities, bandages, etc it starts to become overly complicated.

WoW is built on those quests heheh.  Instead of rats it's Zombies, Worgs... then Bears... In fact, every single frickin zone has one of those stupid quests.    And look how successful it is :)

The devs have confirmed that there will be no automatic aiming or attacking.  All aiming is manual and there isn't any form of auto attack.

How many MMOFPSs have even been made? I can think of four: PlanetSide, Hellgate, Face of Mankind, and Neocron.

PlanetSide was pure win until it's absurd expansion pack and combat balance destroying addition of Battle Frame Robotics. Hellgate... never played it tbh. FoM and Neo were both brilliant concepts but the developers lacked the funding and resources to execute them properly.

So of the four that exist one was successful, a 25% rate. I don't think that's bad. Do you think more then a quarter of MMORPGs are successful? I don't.

They said that ROF is being fixed (they are removing bullet cooldowns) and they are making it into more of a MMOTPSRPG. They said that it will still feel RPGish but the TPS will make the game feel much "deadlier"

Yes WOW is built on that system and so is every other MMO released for the last 5 yrs or more. I think that is Gylfi's point.
