Yes I will be playing Aion. In fact most of my WoW guild are moving over to play Aion. Most of us have already sold our accounts for a tidy sum cash. So there's no going back...lol
After reading a little about the game on websites like this one, reading forum posts and playing for 5 min at Gamescom, I'm in! Polished, beautiful, good interface, easy to pick up - it's already a success! But I might still wait some 6 months after official release for a 14 day trial and/or price reduction.
I'm absolutely playing. i've ordered 3 ce's and plan on boxing a chanter and a cleric with my main. and as for the "Korean grindfest" comments>>> i played lineageII from open beta to final. I had 3 characters all 8x and subs at 78-80. and after almost 3 years of grinding the only thing that drove me away were the bots. I hope that NCSoft is as persistant as they claim they will be about bots in this game. Nothing was more frustration than to play 5-6 hours a day and be surpassed by a #$%^#$ using walker. I've been stoked about aion from the first video release and have tracked it's every move since. i did not play any of the open beta's so that on day one i can be amazed and enthrawled by the new beautiful world that has been created. one final statement. GO AION!!!! and for 99% of people that are going to play no matter how much players and WOW fans bash this game we are still going to make up our own minds.
Afraid I'm skipping this one. I played up to lvl17 and I just couldn't force myself to log in any more. It simply wasn't fun. It is the most linnear and theme park MMO I've ever played. Going to stick to EVE for my PvP fix until something else comes along. I just can't see myself forcing all the way to lvl25 to actually start having fun.
So many people trying to put out so much mis information about this game.. .usually people who say naa... I am just going to stick with WOW.. from what I have seen. This game while slower to level in is not a grind but alot of fun IMHO... I plan on keeping my CE and playing after launch dont think i will play the open beta though.
I played CB upto level 21. I found Aion to be more of a grind than I was expecting the game to be. I also had a session where level 30s were pretty much camping our town via rift portals (guess they were bored) for several hours. The experience that my buddies and I had was not very good. I still like alot of the endgame possibilities of Aion and plan to try the game out some more, but the game has been down graded as far as long term prospects go.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!

We are all playing on PvP servers, so people who don't like PvP should be wary! But in this case, there was a cap at 30 so you have to expect that the level 30 players would be bored and just want to gank some lowbies. With a higher level cap and endgame content, you won't be seeing that as much.

You were grinding and you only played to lvl 21? I played to 26 and never did any grind at all. Maybe you missed an area or two.

Bingo, my wife and I looked at each other one day and said god I'm bored of this, thought of what it would bring us in the long term, uninstalled and said maybe one day until then theres better MMOs out there. We're both really looking forward to FFXIV anyways, even though it's a ways out still we have other games to play till then. Sad to say the first time I logged in I loved it, but it only lasted a short while.
it seems like a really fun game to me, I tried out a couple of classes during the closed beta events (Ranger, Sorc, and Templar) since I only got to participate in two beta events and I had final exams during the second event I was in.
I had lots of fun with all 3 of my characters and wish I would have been able to keep them permenantly but it looks like there will be a wipe after each beta phase (Closed & Open) so we will only be able to keep the Early Start characters.
One thing I recommend is that you join a good legion, I joined one and it makes the game alot more fun to play with other people instead of trying to do everything alone.
No... on the grounds that aion follows the same grounds as many before it and the genre holds no appeal to me anymore.
Its a solid game but its like eating the same food everyday no matter how well its cooked it eventually gets to you.And on that grounds i am going CO which though not as solid is in a genre with only 1 previous such game aka CoH unlike aion that follows the long tradition of countless others.
I just reached a point in my gaming life i need something different is all.Nothing against the game itself.
I was uber excited for this game but when more information was released about FFXIV and GW2.. my heart just isn't in Aion anymore... I still might get it though, we will see.
So no i say AION = L2 oh and NCSOFT ? they did RF online too oh ? Was GRIND FEST, L1 ? GRIND FEST, hm other korean MMORPGS ? Grindfestival x10, even worse than chinese stuff like Hanghai, PFI or wtf ever.
The only good thing bout NCSOFT is that they also did City of Heroes & Vilains and they did Guild wars which were pretty decent.
So yeah, to the fanboys who love big korean boobies on female anime-like characters, i say quest driven ? lol, Balance ? Lol x2.
U wanna settle for korean ? Go to Seoul, at least they got real hot chicks, real real hot & very fashionnable.
For me the game just didnt pull me in. I had no drive to get back on and play. I wasn't pulled into the game like I was in FFXI. I am glad others find it fun, but I did not.
What did female characters have to do with anything I said?
Point of fact: go to AionArmory.com and click on Quests. You will be greeted with "1,987 Quests were found."
Chances are they didn't even include all of them. Quests are the predominant source of XP and level gain in Aion, and more are being added in each patch.
Aion = L2 is like saying WoW = EQ.
I don't fear for your ability to read, but in your comprehension since you are so misinformed in your statements.
Well Female Characters models is what attracted so many people to Korean MMO.
About the quests, u can have a zillion quests if u want, but if each of this quest is "kill 100 mobs of that type" or "bring me 20 extract of that stuff that drops from these mobs", in what point is it different than grinding ?
It's true that doing different type of quests is quite hard, u got like killing quests, fed ex type of quests (which was what totally disgusted me from WOW) and crafting quests.
But u can also have some good ideas about questing ! (for example Mistmoore castle in EQ2) or add them with strong RP / Lore experience (like in Fallen Earth for example).
When i click on ur link, just by seeing the look at the quests names, u can tell right away what they about (xxx assassination, yyy mop up, zzz capture, attacking nnnn), can't really call these quests. The warlord class in L2 was a quest too, but i had to freaking kill 600 mobs to complete it, if that ain't grinding then i dunno what is.
All i'm saying, is that usually Asian MMOS totally lack any single idea about non linear stuff (like having stuff like the bases in SWG, or player driven gameplay a la EVE...) so it's just masked grinding.
Now, maybe i'm wrong, maybe they got scripted quests which involve some funny stuff to do and not only kill an amount of stuff, but i doubt that.
Is there here any L2 vet that could point out the diff between both games ? That'd be really appreciated !
Take care
You're a Hardcore Survivor!
You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!
Yeah for sure. I'll play probably until FFXIV, then come back every now and then for PvP fix. Unless Mortal Online provides a much better experience. Right now Aion provides the best MMORPG open world PvP since DAoC. Will definitely not let it pass by.
Didn't even bother, if it's the same boring grinding crap than L2 then i gave more than enough time on the Korean MMorpgs. Just like L2 with improved graphics, i guess ranged classes are overpowered as usual as well. Go beat the phantom ranger (well i loved her tho, much over my Warlord even tho it was the first on L2 US servers). Neways good luck guys on Aion, everyone now and then needs to have a shot at click-grind-get-a-carpal-tunnel type of games. I think i'm stopping MMos till TOR
Lol I'm glad people who don't take a second to learn about the game aren't playing.
The game is quest driven, has quests being added with each patch.
The classes are very well-balanced for end game PvP.
But I must say I'm glad to not have your ignorance in Aion.
Now, maybe i'm wrong, maybe they got scripted quests which involve some funny stuff to do and not only kill an amount of stuff, but i doubt that.
Like escorting someone's pet pig back to the farm, or worse, finding it roasting over a fire? Like having to go into a city's Arena to get to the NPC and the Arena is being camped by high levels on your own side so you have to coordinate outside the arena so you can beat them back to finish a quest?
Absolutely, I'll be playing for a while unless something major comes up in my life.
Also, I couldn't help but notice someone said NCSoft did RF Online. You're wrong, that was NHN. Two very different companies. NHN also made Archlord, if you need a point of reference.
LOL dude i give you a reason why WoW is a fail now have you seen the 5hit they are coming up with in WoW now, i been playing 4 yrs and they dissapoint me lol
I"ve played from Beta 2 all the way to the Beta 6. I had ordered the Collector's Edition game box, and was really excited about it, however after playing it for those several betas, I began to wonder if I truly want to play this game when it launches or just sell my CE box.
Anyone else having the same second thoughts I'm having?
I only got to play 1 beta so I dont have the exp you do with the game, but from what I have seen I will be playing for some. Atm Aion seems the most interesting to me, I didn't read all the post so you may have already answered this but what exactly has you thinking twice? another game or just not sure if it can hold your attention?
I am still going to play. Am I overly hyped about the game? no, I've been burned enough times to learn not to get excited over a new mmorpg (AoC and Darkfall.). Those two games were my lesson learned.
I am happy to say that I will definatly be playing. The betas were alot of fun, and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the 1.5 patch. I'm evan more excited after the beta, than I was before. Counting the secconds till the release!
Looks to me like some of you will play some will not. Other will play till better things come out, some will play long-term. That's cool. I really wish I hadn't of gotten so excited about this game and played it nonstop, because I feel that's why this game isn't as exciting as it was for me at the beginning.
Perhaps when it get close to launch day I'll have a renewed exciting and play again.
One thing I did notice in beta was that most people didn't talk much, if at all.. and no one really was interested in grouping together. I guess I was just unlucky. I never did join a legion cause no one was advertising for one. *shrugs*

Zone chat was disabled during the beta so nobody was talking and it was kind of weird.
That also made it difficult to advertise for Legions, but release will be another story. I can't wait.
