I"ve played from Beta 2 all the way to the Beta 6. I had ordered the Collector's Edition game box, and was really excited about it, however after playing it for those several betas, I began to wonder if I truly want to play this game when it launches or just sell my CE box.
Anyone else having the same second thoughts I'm having?
I played all the betas as well, and I guess I am out $5 heh.
Which is fine, its better than being out $50 + whatever few monthly fees I would of had. The game doesn't have enough to be worth a few years of commitment, especially with better/bigger more innovational games just around the corner for 2010.
I'm sure pvper will like this game though but pve players not so much, there is nothing in Aion for you., The community seems to have gone down hill pretty fast since the first beta as well so that pretty much killed me playing the game =/ sucks because I don't currenlty have an MMO to play.
Undecided. I only leveled a couple of classes to 5 or 6 to get a feel. The problem was the starter areas were so distustingly linear, I found myself not even wanting to try another class. Regeardless of how good or not the PvP game is, if the PvE isn't good, whats the point of sufering through it to get to the PvP?
I've heard VERY mixed results regarding the later levels. Are the zones REALLY more wide open after 20? Is there any reason at all to explore? Do the zones open up at all or are they all like WAR's....roads with content perfectly placed all along a nice path. I'm not doing that again. Do the quests get creative at all later on? WOW had plenty of unque varieties mixed in with with the generic ones. Does Aion have them?
I played a few characters that were in their teens on friends accounts and those zones were no better than the starter areas.
Well I definately will be playing. I didn't burn myself out on the Beta. Plus my whole Guild was invited to the Beta so I always had people to group with. Which definately make a difference.

I feel like this was a big part of it. People not taking the time to group with other people! It's not a solo game, it's an MMO! We will see those same people come back when 1.5 is introduced with a better LFG system, or when their current guildies come over. It's just a matter of time

I got into the game with the last two beta sessions and I am overly impressed with the game. I haven't been to the big city yet but I have an older machine and experienced hardly any lag!
Ah yep, I am in for the duration. Just wish it was a $9.99 game. I wonder where they draw the line between $9.99 and $14.99?

It should help some when the region chat and LFG chat are activated, which they were not in Beta.
It's sort of difficult to judge an MMO's social aspect when chat is turned off. The beta was just that, a beta, not a free trial.

Good question, I've been wondering the same thing myself. To keep myself occupied until release I bought AoC for $20 which includes a month of service.
AoC is fine, and I might even consider keeping my subscription once Aion releases, but not at $14.99/month.
If a game really does want to be a WoW killer, or any other MMORPG killer then why hasn't anyone considered the old fashioned way of getting customers? Just undercut the price.
I can't believe AoC wants $14.99/month, that's just silly.

I can see it with Aion and Wow, but Eve?
seriously. no.
A company would have to gain 50% more subscribers from a $5 price drop to make it even worthwhile. If you take Age of Conan as an example you would understand that it requires a high end computer to run well. This means most players with a high end computer able to play Age of Conan probably wouldn't care if it cost $9.99 or $14.99. Also, undercutting the price means you can afford less time to customer service per player. That is where the cost cuts would have to lie and it's going to make the game worse if customer service drags, and it will also give your company a bad reputation.
Eve allows you to play for free as long as you can buy time cards in game so it has it's own system to make it cheaper and also has free expansions to boot. So it is cheaper than WoW and Aion.
If you want to undercut WoW you need to either drop the monthly fee altogether and have a system like Guild Wars or you need to have free expansions. I don't know anyone who would choose an MMO over another because it's $9.99 or $14.99. If you care that much then you need to fix your financial situation instead of spending time in front of the computer.

I was just about to make a thread about this.
I feel exactly the same way bro, I think it's called 'burnout'.
I also have been wondering where I can sell my CE ... but was thinking that it would be worth more in a couple years?
I think it most likely would be worth more. WoW CEs sure were. And you're right, I'm just burntout on it.
I'd be a little careful on this. I was able to get a Tabula Rasa CE for only $15 a few months after its release. I'm pretty certain Aion will do better than TR(how could it not?), but just wanted to throw that out there as a heads up.
Does IGN provide the key to subscribers only in the US/Canada or does it work for EU too ? (they don't mention it and I been screwed before already).
This new OB be the only chance to check it out and have a real opinion of it.
I think i'd prefer Fallen Earth (really a super game, and way under hyped) but the wife's way more into this kind of MMOS (we had a blast in EQ2).
You're a Hardcore Survivor!
You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!
Still going to play? Thats definatly not a question =P, i don't even need to think twice, nor once, i loved the game,i was hooked right in the first minute my Char spawn for the first time, the game is difrent then everything else, I love the game and i well never quit, well at least if they dont make bad updates or so, im so excited for OBT =D

I won't be playing after the 30 days from retail. I saw nothing in beta that would cause me to want to play this game long term.
Good luck to all who are forging on.

GlassEye
Still on the fence here. Seems pretty close to a WoW clone to me, and I've been bored with WoW for years
But we'll see. Maybe the 1.5 patch will change my mind.

I will be playing. Yes CB had some issues but most of those are resolved in ver. 1.5. It will be interesting to see the changes....
