Kinda sad, that if you PRE-ORDER a game, that you have to lose some benefits others may receive, regardlEss of what may have or have not been relased by company.. It's not a customers main purpose to have to be shopping to buy an item unyet released and lose out on some bonsues such as HEADSTART access, but even more importantly NOT RECEIVE $5 credit in Cryptic Cash

    other retailers are offering..
Thats right, check your orders people, if you ordered from the wrong place, you will NOT get $5 credit that other places offer, for the same price in the same game, at the same time at the same FULL RETAIL PRICE
This is just bad business, totally unetchical and I hope you complain, currently from the few complains, the response to them noone seems to care.. Maybe most of them are forum dwellers.. Retail business is not forum fanbois, and there is no excuse for having only some retailers have these EXTRA PERKS.. This is just immorral.
So some people who ordered on D2D and AMAZON months ago, (the true investors) before most of this stuff was mentioned, which makes them MORE IMPORTANT to Cryptic than any defending forum dweller. who is going to come here and defend them..
Or moreso, some people in certain parts of the world get PISSED ON, because they dont have these stores or they won't deliver to them or they simply cost TOO MUCH MORE for shipping etc.
There is no excuse for this.. and I think everyone who pre-ordered should have full refund rights or full rights to FREEBIES of their friggan choice.....
Let's even go another example.. I wanted the backpack, for space right off the bat, i know ill need as I am a crafter... I dont want no item from GameStop that i dont like.. but I know have to order from GameStop because it gives $5 FREE??

It is the purchasing agent of the various retailers that strike those deals to get ppl to buy from their stores.

What you call bad business is in fact, good business....free market!!

I take it you are a card carrying communist?

btw, I didn't preorder from a company that has the $5 benefit....damn, gonna go jump off a cliff now.  Hmm, no, maybe I will look around next time before I jump on the first vendor.....I suggest everyone do the same!!!

    Shop around next time.

It's that guy who says it's only $5 who

Dont even have $5 in his pocket, or a subscription, or a pre-order..

Just a guy with an attitude against negative complaintants with points that cant be argued with because its actually a valid complaint.

Everyone knows my point is valid, thats why they stopped attacking... unfortunately they got away with it.. But what really happend.. Direct 2 Drive lost a customer, ill never go back there because its obviously no longer a required service that obviously can't discount even though its taking a tangible product to intangible.. and pretty much means the whole digital distribution model is going to fail in near future.....

sorry, please re-read this entire post and you will see how wrong your point is, already explained... It is illegal to offer a better incentive from a MFR to Company on a retail price.. that would be a monopolistic move to ensure sales go in a certain direction and would bring in a million unfair business practice lawsuits...again it would destroy the relationships of the retailers and publishers who work with them to create more sales... that is an incorrect assumption you have made.

Come on Aliamas, lets be real here..

You are out in the mall, and you stop in your local game shop called  "PLUCKIES" and see BUY CHAMPIONS ONLINE PRE_ORDER NOW. GET IN GAME BACKPACK FREE..

and this was the game you always wish was being created and as an impulse you bought the pre-order..

you paid full retail price $49.99 plus tax or whatever

then you got home, and a month went by, or even a day, time doesnt matter here... you found out that if you actually went toa store you didnt like "DUCKIES" and bought it there for the same price, $49.99 plus tax, you got 2 perks, 3 Day head start, and $5 game credit, you wouldnt be dissappointed, you would say.. HEY DUCKIES awesome move, you are doing the same thing... selling the same game but you made a great phone call to get us head tart..

LOL i cant even finish that paragraph it's so ridiculous to even assume someone could agree with this scenario

    Peter,

Wait til you get out into the real world, and find out you can go to Wal Mart and buy the same item cheaper than you can at a different store. You'll find that different stores have different incentives for you to shop there, yet often sell the same product. This is called "Reality".

Im done here for the day, and at the end of the day, i can honestly say, if I pre-order anything its to get in as fast as possible

and to limit that action to one retailer, is IMMORAL, UNETHICAL< and quite frankly illegal if you anyone wishes to pursue that in court.

And everyone in a logical face to face meeting will agree with me... you know it, i know it, cryptic knows it.. atari <--- source of problem, this company has lost its sanity and scruples, if they ever had any..

END OF DAY, I am unhappy and my unhappiness is justified.. I am no longer a D2D cutomer, I am no longer a Cryptic Customer.. so boo hoo all your $5 tears for me.. they the ones that lost in the end..

Sorry, This was already addressed, there was NO discount provided for the MISSING perks, that again would be a pricing legality issue.. The full RETAIL PRICE is being paid at D2D. Amazon may discount, thats their business if they want to give away the farm for future busienss, the discount had nothing to do with perks. And im pretty sure amazon can sell more than Barnes & Noble with its eyes closed... Keep an eye on who owns who and is invested in what! :p

Keep digging for debate issues, but I pretty much cleaned the clocks of morality on this thread.

while you have a good point its also very stupid imo. thats make you impulse buyers ridiculous. instead of being a little patient and checking around for good deals you buy the first thing you see then get mad when you can get something better or even cheaper from somewhere else. On top of that still have the nerve to get mad when its no ones fault but your own for not being patient.

Disappointed?  Sure, I might be disappointed.  If I was that disappointed I might return the game to the first store, and buy it at another (as I have already stated I did earlier) if I could.  However, I wouldn't be disappthere is a large difference between being disappointed in the purchase choice I made on impulse, rather than accusing the company that made the game of poor business practices.

I never once said you had to be "happy" about it, all I said was that it wasn't Cryptic's fault that D2D didn't have the perks you expected.

There's 2 problems with your logic.

    1. There is no refunds.. You are screwed for being a good customer.. End of story.

    2. Its not Cryptics fault... Someone comes up with this shit.. and in this case dissappointment was created, that must be there is some fault.. Are you saying Crypit sat around listening to D2D who said, hi, we dont care about perks, just give us a backpack and do whatever else you want with whatever other company, its all good, our customers love us so much they wont mind getting FUCKED IN THE ASS from us... and if they do, we dont care.. NO REFUNDS>> BAHAHHAAH your common sense is off its kilter

Dude, seriously?  Perks is your complaint?

You gonna complain when CoX is offered at a discount of $19 instead of the $50 you paid for it when it first came out?  Seriously, perks are a marketing tool.  Desined to entice you into buying the software and subscribing to the game.

All games do this and have different ones from different stores.  CoH did this 5 years ago ( or whenever it was released ).  Really, if you do not like the game do not play it.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

your bitching about getting free shit?  What is wrong with you.

Also each of those shops pays Cryptic for those items (as they are incentives to sell the copies of the game) and they deliberately try and lure you in with different items for different shops.

e.g My local shops during the PS3 launch

GAME: $800 and you get the console, 1 game  and 1 controller

GAME TRADERS (where my friend got his): $800, 2 controllers discount on any game purchase (20%)

EB: $800, 1 game (super limited they only let you pick from about 3), 1 controller

as you can see all 3 had different deals to try and lure in customers.  In the end it did not matter as the machines sold out so fast it ended up being 'grab any one you can find'.  That was seriously the advice all the shops were giving so in the end i got mine from GAME.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

(I said I was done, so I am going to regret this)

    1. There is no refunds.. You are screwed for being a good customer.. End of story.

In that case, and in this instance, I would honestly suck it up and deal.  Let's look at the perks here (we will just use Gamestop).

         1) The ability to fly right off the bat -> Fluff.  Not really needed at all in the game for the first 5 levels, and after that you get it anyway if you want it)

         2) 3 day headstart - While yes, this is nice to have, it isn't the end of the world.  I wouldn't cry over it.  It isn't a race to get to 40, there is no prize.  3 days of playtime is again, fluff.

         3) Insect wingfoils - Fluff again, unless I had my heart set on creating a bug man.  Even then, it would probably be available later on in the Cryptic Store if I wanted it that badly

         4) $5 credit a the CS - The only thing that really has any monitary value that I could be upset about.  But what would it be used for...to by more fluff.  In the long term scheme of things, not important.

    2. It is not Cryptic's fault

As has been pointed out, more than once and more than just me, this is a business deal that was made per company.  You may not believe it, but yes, Cryptic did sit with D2D and discuss what perks they wanted to offer, they came to a deal, papers were signed, and money probably changed hands.

Did I pre-order?  Yes.  Does my preorder have headstart?  Yes.  Will I be playing this weekend?  Nope.  i am going to be spending time with my wife and child.

ok PeterPorker ( guess that does not imply the same connotation in Canada as it does in US, hehe ).  You have made the point that you did not like the fact that your PRE-ORDER did not come with early access.

Did you notice that you did not get early access when you originally bought the game?  If not, I commend you on taking it back.

Aside from that, I do not believe you are ever going to see something like this go away.  It is a perk.  It is not game changing.  It is fluff.  Like the first 100 players get an action figure or something.  Or, collectors edition ( only picked one up once for SWG, never again )  having added stuff.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

If you preorder a game before the officially announced preorder's are in then you are simply an idiot. If you havent figured it out by now...you do gain absolutely nothing from preording a game 3 years before its release...or even 6 months before its release. There is zero reason not to wait...unless the publisher or developer specifically offers a special limited time only deal(lifetime subs in this case). Preodering a game even 6 months in advance does not even guarentee that you will get it on release day because they publisher and developers probably have not even made any specific distribution deals at that point.

A company famous for offering preoders before a game sometimes even has a publisher is gamestop. I would never preorder a game unless I get that specific box that is a preoder box. The only exception is for specific companies that offer digital downloads(Direct2Drive for one).

Never ever order/preorder anything that is not stamped with an official seal of approval.

  • PeterPorkerPeterPorker Member Posts: 74

YES, exactly the first 100 right?

Ughm someone right now can pre-order and start playing in 7 hours.... i ordered 3 months ago, i have to wait till september.. thanks for the awesome point... First 100 is HOW is should be if limited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally agree.. but your point is moot.. since as you can see... you can still have the chance to play tommorow, i cant.. you havent paid i cent, i havea months ago. QQ me a river here

Lies, i believe you pre-ordered, you have headstart, and are sitting there with a 2 frozen 2 liter and a pee pan and hose strapped to your johnson, and got a macro programmed hitting auto-update hoping they put up the servers even an hour earlier than midnite to get your CO fix asap. You simply dont have any other forum interaction (because this game is a dud and wow i cant believe how lack of interest this truly has) but anyway I dont believe you have a child or a wife for one second, matter of fact, I have just gotten a PM that you dont even have a girlfriend. and may not even have pubics yet.

Really...lol.  Well, you are free to believe what you want to believe I guess. =)  Have fun!
