Humm, I wonder a sever without any Rifts, would it mean more box sales. Where the hell are my bean counters ?

IF there was a chance to get whoever you killed in pvp's gear.. pvp would be fun..

Imagine loosing that sword that took you 3 months to get.. etc.. and you will get the meaning of pvp fun.

As it is.. you dont loose exp, you dont loose crap.. its just a timesink and stress provider without any reason other than promote a bunch of lil peens into ganking people thinking they somehow can ascend with the wings help to a manhood state that would be impossible for them to reach otherwise.. might aswel remove rifts.. or make pvp count.

And tell me whats the fun in losing weapon/armor?

It would just lower the pvp and increase ganking aka High lvls vs Low lvls imo.

The ganking thing is part of the game anyway, so that would not change..

What would change is the adrenalin and fun of pvp. Theres no point pvpying if you dont get the feeling of loosing / gainning anything.. theres no rush no fun.. in my opinion of course.

I remeber in Lineage 2 killing a bunch of peolple with my old Silver Ranger, then going red and running away like hell with everyone on my tail afraid of loosing my hard earned bow.. now that was a blast.. that was pvp essence.

Kill with consequences, live with the consequences or die trying to. Thats pvp not this pyramid rift crap.

I miss free loot PvP combat.  I remember getting my Shiny Metallic Robe by killing some High Elf Wizard in EverQuest.  If I remember right, the SMR was a very rare drop in Lower Guk.

As far as I know when you pvp and/or kill mobs in the abyss you gain "honor" (Forgot exact name) when you die you lose some of it.

And I don't get whats fun in runing away to save your precious bow, yes there's the aspect of the adrenalin or whatever you want it to be but that's not part of pvp imo it's just that you found an enemy/ies stronger then you and you retreat. At least if you really wanted this "feature" make it after you get a certain infamy maybe?

And yes it will lower the pvp in game if it had that system.

That would be like asking for Star Wars: The Old Republic servers with no force powers.

It's because most of them don't understand.

Aion has zones that are already free of rifts.  These zones match the same level spread as the zones with rifts.  It is perfectly possible to complete quests and to level from 20 to ~30 without spending time in a zone with rifts.  e.g.; Elyos do not need to go to Eltnen, they can go to Theobomos (spelling?) to level from 20 to 30 without the possibility of so much as one PvP encounter.

The people who demand rift-free zones aren't aware of this.  Unfortunately, explaining this fact to them is not always helpful.  Some are so bent on having the entire game changed just for them that it isn't good enough that they already have what they want.  They want it changed anyway.

Frankly I think that NCSoft should build a newbie test into the game similar to the Abyss entry test.  Make a player pass a test that explains the existence of rift-free zones before they can exit the newbie area.  That means before they go get their wings.

Have you tried this? The quests in Theobomos might get you from 20 to 22. From 22 to 30 you'd be grinding grey mobs.

In 1.5  <the release version here> you can level all the way to 50 in Abyss/Rift free zones - now stop QQ.

    No, it won't.

Or you've never experienced how L2's PvP worked.

People made dedicated griefer alts. Just as long as it was fairly high level, strap on some cheap gear, and go gank to your hearts content. Oh, you're stuck now? Log off, play as your main now that you've satisfied your urges to gank. Then log in during low pop during the night and let the punishment wear off (let people kill you over and over, or get a friend to do it).

uhm you realy didnt read anything about the slayer system it doesnt work that way only one character gets marked and debuffed and that stays on untill they are killed and kicked out of the enemy zone or leave the zone and go to one of theirs and wait out the timer  which fixes the problem forceing them out of the enemy zone where they are ganking

secondly you get a debuff that removes 75% or so of ALL your stats

*oh ya i forgot to point out that you are marked on the map to all your enemies *

    Carebears and PvE'ers.

PvE = a player with no skill.

and PVP = a player with no brains?

LOL, I'm a carebear and suck at PVP, yet play most PVP games and am a master at avoiding the gank.

I'll be playing Aion, and I don't mind the rifts....all part of the fun.

rifts are all a part of the experience. people act like getting ganked is the end of the world, when in reality it's not. if it's really getting to you, or you're getting camped, log off and take a break, grab a beer or something. or, hell, stay away from rift zones

Logging off and staying away from it is the best idea.  Its what ive done.

Rifts add a bit of randomness to the game in the sense that an area that was safe before may not be as much a different time.

I for one am a huge fan of anything that makes every playing experience a little bit different.

PVP is to collect AP points. For anyone seriously collecting them, either to buy gear or for rank, dieing does have consequences. Especially dying in a rift to a low rank opponent.

As for leveling in a no rift zones, that would turn Aion into a huge grind fest and the person doing it would miss 3/4 of the content as well as most of the story quests. 5 levels on grey mobs, ha ha...

I agree that Rifts add a lot to the game.

Aion is the biggest effort I`ve seen so far in trying to blend PvP and PvE , they even have a name for it heh.

It`s extremely hard task to do and no game have ever done it succesfully before but I think NCsoft can pull it off.

In order for this PvPvE idea to work it needs to be balanced perfectly and rifts add to that balance.

Aion is still not perfectly balanced but it`s close and things will be tweaked with future patches after first few months of post launch feedback I`m sure.

For a old-school gamer like me who is not married to one specific play style and someone who enjoys both PVE story lines and hardcore PVP (even RP from time to time) this game is exactly what the doctor ordered.

My thoughts exactly. Aion looks to be a good mix of everything. Lets hope ncsoft stays with it and gives the players what they want.

As per 1.5v patch PvPing will now give you EXP.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

I hope this also means you lose exp when you die in PvP.

Levelling is already fast enough in 1.0

It doesn't need to go any faster...

Your gonna die alot as it is doing the content and pvp.  The cost would be too great and that would turn off people from doing pvp.

I wouldnt even play aion if they took out rifting. People dont even realize how much it adds to the dynamics of the world. Also, rifting is huge for PVP not just ganking. Take a look at all the PVP vids on youtube, about half of them are all large scale battles that take place through rifting.

Take out rifting and all you have is abyss, when it is in fact way cooler to be able to also fight in snow, deserts, jungles, on plateus you would never expect to PVP on. It really adds to the game. Lastly, griefing was never THAT bad. CB was an exception because everyone who power level'd to 30 instantly started going at the lowbies, when in release, they will still have a LONG ways to go to 50.
