Somebody turned me on to Apple Cinnamon Cheerios last week. Man, this is the bestest cereal ever. I can't see why anyone would ever eat any other cereal. It's crisp. It's tasty, with a slight tang. It makes you think of Apples, and it's even good for you! Have you guys tasted apples? I mean, wow they're great. This will really teach Kellogg to put out all those sucky cereals. I bet the Kellogg building is a ghost town already. I know it's only been a week, but I am already absolutely positive I am gonna eat nothing but Apple Cinnamon Cheerios for the rest of my life! If you don't, you're stupid.
WoW's allright. But blizzard just dont listen. They keep making Alliance more pwoerfull while nerfing Horde. I think its got something to do with all the Admins playing Paladins. Theres not alot Paladins cant do...
Also the unbalanced class system is rather homo. Atm in PvP its just class vs class msot of the time. Its less skill based then even what DAoC was, not to mention Paladins have an 80%+ chance of killing any class 1vs1.
They get a self invun for 10 secs with around 45 sec reuse. They get heals, they get a free mount at lvl 40, they get stuns, they get plate, and they get self weapon buffs. They can tank better then a warrior, have higher dps then a warlock and can heal better then a shaman.
And why would they get the ability to allow them to summon their own horse when everyone else has to pay 90gold for them. Warllocks are the only other class that gets a free horse, and that makes sence... seeing as their a summoning class, but giving Paladins horses jsut aint make sence.

4 years of subscriptions to pay for the game? Not even close. Blizzard said that just before Open Beta they spent ~10 million developing WoW, and paying for bandwidth, etc. We'll say another $1 million was spent during open beta and distribution, etc., so $11 million by release. That would take 220,000 boxes sold - they got that in the first day. So since a few hundred thousand people have already payed $15 for the second month, that would mean Blizzard is already making money.

Wow, I was so very much enlightened by this spectacular post. As I type this, I am searching for a mallet to crush my World of Warcraft disks. Also, I am using my head to smash my computer to smitherines for ever installing World of Warcraft on it.
Originally posted by _Jord_ WoW is just THAT good. Why would anyone want to play anything else? Now ... I've got you flaming mad... My background is UO=>FFXI=>WoW. I've also seen a lot of EQ (my room mate at school played it 11 hours a day) and I've played EQ2 (although very limited). So... now that I have your attention... Here's WHY I make such a strong statement about WoW: Leveling is possible both solo and in groups. This means you can progress your character for 30 minutes or 10 hours - you can level when you want, how you want and with who (or without who) you wantGrouping levels are not heavily restricted - so you can play with your friendsExcellent PvP system and choice between PvP or PvE (PvE still has PvP content but it's all optional)Leveling curve does not become a part/full time job (I.e. you dont need 6 hours at a time and 1000s of total hours to reach cap). Just imagine - you get to spend your playing time on other things!Farming, exping and gathering tradeskill materials can be done at the same time - no endless weeks of "farming" while gaining 0 expA good guild is everything you need to avoid the rest of the population (I.e. stay out of the general chat channels)Fast-paced, but not hack-n-slash combat keeps players involved and is more than just Macro 1 Macro 2 Macro 3 Rinse, Repeat...An incredibly large variety of gear allows for heavy character personalization. Talent system allows for further customiztion, making your character strong in whatever aspect of their abilities you choose Meh ... I only used the strong, suggestive subject to get your attention ... though I definitely expect to catch a few flames.... I do feel that hardcore MMO'ers wll feel a bit threatened though. I mean if you're like me and have spent 75+ DAYS of playtime to reach cap, it's hard to imagine dropping it and joining a game in which cap can be reached in 10 days of playtime. It sounds "easy" ... well ... it's not easy ... It's challenging. It is challenging, but not a huge timesink. It took me a while (and a lot of sleepless nights) but I've finally dropped my 75 DAY FFXI account... I'm a convert! I will never ride a 2000 hour level curve ever again!!!Kharma Trolls (Illidan) - The Official Allakhazam Posters Guild
WOW has a good system, beautiful world and NONE of the pain (hassles) that I see in other MMORG's.
That said, WOW has limited races, limited classes, cartoonish character graphics, and no real sense of challenge. An hour or two spent in WOW feels like "ho hum" to me. This is a great game for "casual players", but for hardcore MMORPG players "looking for more" it's going to take a different game to relight that old fire (Vanguard?).
Well, majority of WoW players are newbies to MMORPG genre, coming from battlenet etc...and they arent interested of other MMORPGs so WoW will be around for long time...
I plaid WoW from closed beta all way to release but it simply wasn't game for me...it was 10% adventuring 90% handholding....you were dragged to all the content and have it all spooned in your mouth, it just lacked sense of adventuring...Doing new quests wasn't fun because you'd already know what you'd get for finishing it. Half of playerbase is almost on max levels 1 month after release...Don't get me wrong, the game is decent but if you play more than 2 hours a day you won't stay entertained for over 6-9 months, incoming pvp content included.
When I pay to play I rather see it as long time investment rather than 6 months joy.
Everything else is pretty solid (except the trade skill system)...
Honestly... i didnt feel any challenge when i would play it... everything else was good, but after 2 weeks i was just bored to death with the lack of challenge...
if it was a bit more challenging i would have probably stayed with it...

It's built on the casual gamer model and casual gamer friendly games never ever ever have lasted. Its too easy to level. It's just too easy for a hardcore gamer. They cant crank out enough material to keep people interested at that pace unless they only play a couple hours a week. I know its new and everyone is so happy with it. Tell me that in a year ok. Tell me that when you come back to EQ to see your old friends. Because you know you will. I know you will.. Everyone knows you will. I keep hearing on these forums that EQ is dead. Although the casual player base has eroded to wow and some other people have moved on to EQ2 let me tell you EQ is nowhere near a desolate place. My guild still pulls in 60-75 people 4 nights a week to raid. I run pickup raids on my off night and i get 70+ people to raid. EQ is still very much alive. Content is king. EQ is king. What is all this hate for WoW and CoH? Someone does a game that is actually fun and doesn't require hours of hardcore gaming to get to the good stuff and here comes people saying "it won't last, in 4 months/6 months/1 year it will be dead".
Well guess what? tell me how many morpg "died"? 1. Earth & Beyond.
Any others? mmmmmh... nope. UO, AC and EQ are still here. even some not-so-good games as Horizons or AC2 are STILL here.
The market is filled with casual gamers, CoH is not dead nowaday after months of succesful activity and WoW broke all records of PC selling in one day.... and is not even released in Europe!
So, nope, sorry. WoW won't be dead by end of 2005.
10 days to arrive at 60? yeah! if you play like 24/7 and guess what? an experienced hardcore powerplayer takes about the same to get to max in EQ.. surprise surprise ah?
No one, not even Blizzard, ever said that WoW will revolution the genre. Blizzard NEVER do that. Blizzard takes accomplished ideas and make with them what no one else, to that point, was able to do. a Very fun game open to everybody, not just a niche.
You might not like WoW for a thousand reasons (for all games out there, there are people loving it and some hating it), but after such a general uproar of reaction from both public and critic, it would be unreasonable to still consider WoW a "crappy" game that will fail in like... 2 months.
You prefer Eq? fine, but realize that making posts like "Wow? pfft, will die in a year tops" is not that much different than making "Wow! best game evaaar!" With the difference than you are being negative about a game you do not like and maybe never ever played, the second is being positive on a game he plays and appreciate.
have a nice day.

After playing FFXI i would think it was the best too. FFXI was a game which only allowed you to solo up until level 10.... the rest of the game HAD to be in a group.

Dark & light, if done right will be the god of pvp mmorpgs and by what ive read Wish will actually readd RPG in the term MMORPG.
But then again, there will be those 400 thousand Diablo2/warcraft fans who wont be interested of real mmorpgs.
