Ok since you obviously don't get the point. I don't wish to play another game, I've played most the games on your list and none satisfy me. My favorite game is FF, been playing em since the beggining and Im not a PVP fanatic, I just wish there was a LITTLE bit more pvp action in FFXIV so i could do whatever I wanted without having to play something other than FFXIV, I like to stick with a character and storylines, not jump between them. It just ends up boring me because I get lost between the two worlds and I lose interest in the story. ALSO, square would probably be the only ones to get pvp and pve together in the same world and to DO IT RIGHT. It would make it better because they already have PVE on lock, I would not have to go to another game that has a shitty storyline and gameplay just for a little PVP, I want the FFXIV PVE with a little PVP. Thats why.

Most people complaining about PVP are the ones that got murked in other PVP games while trying to grind and they don't want the same thing to happen to this game. I completely understand and I am with you on that one.
Thats why you should be able to turn PVP on and off so if you didnt wanna get attacked you would have it off.
I loved the first version ffXI but I just really wanted more pvp, not even full on pvp maybe like faction pvp, order and chaos type stuff. It just would add the one element to the game that I think would make it more successful and make people want to play it longer.

I don't doubt for a minute that PVP would attract more players,but it would also ruin the game totally and turn it into another WOW crap fest.
There is no possible way to balance PVP with PVE,people will complain to no end,changes would have to be made to every class every week,because they would always find an exploit or loophole that makes one class far too o/p.At least in a PVE game balance is not the issue,the issue is a well balanced party and team work.Also in PVE only there is 500% less drama as it is not about feeding egos or showing off,albeit there is always some who need to brag or showoff.

I personally don't care if a game has either or but not both in the same game,it does not work.You would have to put tons of restrictions,and of course there would never be a way to keep PVP fair,unless limited to 1 0n 1 ,gear and level,but FFXIV will have no levels,so balancing would be even more lame.
I think the biggest problem with PVP,is that 90% of the players do not understand the combat formulas at all,they actually think they have a chance in an unbalanced system.Look at PVP this way.....imagine how lame a game would be if you could get max xp as a level 40 killing a level 1 mob?that would be a game that does not warrant 1 subscriber,yet this is exactly what PVP does.I have seen some limitations like max level 20 or 30 or 50 zones,but it still is a weak system,because no way on hell a level 5 is going to enter a level 20 zone,so all it does is create a fair system for the ones that are level 19/20.No matter how you try to work PVE and PVP into the same game ,they will always 100% counteract each other,it is a no win situation.

It's a moot argument. SE's already said they will be focusing on PvE and keeping PvP restricted to things like Ballista in FFXI.
I've seen this discussion pop up at least once in every PvE-centric MMO I've ever followed. If it's a PvE MMO, *guaranteed* there's going to be those coming to the forums who feels it needs PvP because "insert reason here".
I knew it would pop up for FFXIV and it has now, at least 3 times that I've seen; once here that I've seen (maybe more), and twice more in a couple other forums. And it's always the same... Someone who enjoys PvP insists that adding PvP would make the game better, that there's no excuse not to add it... and this and that and the other.
I will say this...
At least the FFXIV crowd aren't like those in others... I haven't seen anyone here saying things like "If this game doesn't have real PvP then it'll be a carebear theme park for people who suck at life and it will fail because it's *proven* that adding PvP would bring them another 4,000,000 players, easily"... Not yet anyway.
So far the people here and elsewhere have merely wished there was more PvP and put forth their arguments of why.

I played Guild Wars and had a ball. Call to Duty 4. Halo. Warhammer (fell asleep), and a few other PvP based games. I like most of them and had fun. But the thing was that's why I went to play them; because THEY had the PvP there where I wanted it.
When I wanted a game full of story, teamwork and a long, never-ending saga of a game that wasn't the same every night I picked FFXI and I wasn't disappointed. It was billed as such and it never let me down once. I rarely grew tired of SEA farming, SKY farming, and BCNMs. No matter which class I had it was always the same and there was never anyone around in my linkshell that had a rush rush mentality.
Not to stereotype, but a lot PvP players don't have that explore around and smell the roses type attitude. They want to be level 80 the day after the game opens so they can pwn lower people and get high rankings on some kind of leaderboard somewhere. Everything in those games is all about getting there yesterday; it's like having a friggin job. You have to get lots of kills so your guild looks good. There's always an "alert" of someone attacking something that you have to run to and waste an hour getting there/fighting/getting back to what you were doing. It's a nice change of pace sometimes but I don't like to play that way everyday and like to explore around, killing mobs as you go. That's what FFXI does/is. It's about the journey; not as the OP says "Wanting to punch someone in the mouth when you feel like it" or pick fights.
PvP in this game mixed in with daily content will ruin that community. Too much looking over your shoulder, carebear taunts, people hogging chats for duels, cheats/hacks to kill people and jokers just jumping around like nuts in town. It gets tiresome. Again Ballista is fine off in an instance somewhere in a little, dark, dank corner. But every day spent on fixing the PvP is another day away from fixing PvE and keeping that content fresh, and I'm just not here for that in FFXIV.

Well I repeat again your assumptions are stupid sorry to say just because we want a PVE focused game means that we were ganked lots of times and hated it? lol seriously you better stop assuming and get better facts first.
PVE also means that will have a pretty story line and SE has always done an excellent work why should they change their priority because some pvp guy wants more pvp imo.

You want to know why they have a "lock" on the PvE aspect? because they dont waste their time on PvP.
PvE is never truely locked down. Unlike PvP, PvE has to be continually added to because its not self generating like PvP is. EvE goes round and round because of the players are the content. FFXI goes round and round because the enviroment is the content, and there is a massive amount of it. If you shift focus to PvP, PvE will start to suffer. Or take resources away from PvE to do PvP , your PvE will suffer.
I still think down the road they should have a PvP class where that class is the only PvP class. It would be extremly easy to balance one class, they could make a town where matches took place and keep a ranking system. But PvP'ers arnt about fair PvP so who knows.

I didn't play ffxi for very long since I didn't like the UI and found it slow, but I acknowledge that it is a long running successful title. I am a bit dissapointed that XIV is not going to put more of an emphasis on PVP because it seems like it has a class system that would support competitive pvp in that it lets you easily change what you are playing and would give teams a lot of customization/build options.
Pve can be good for a while, but its usually very easy and repetitive most of the time and thus very boring. Fighting a usually dumb AI just doesn't give the same thrill that fighting another skilled person gives.
I like many here dislike level/gear based pvp that supports ganking/griefing and basically skrews over newbies and casuals, but as long as the pvp is kept competitive then it can be a real blast.
Keep praying, Final Fantasy is about as far from PvP focused as you can get. It's totally against the feel and message most FF games try to get across.
honestly, i would rather not see it in this game any more then you do in 11. Its bad enough that 11 can be know for breeding elitists. the last thing i want is 14 to be know for the horrible pvp communities that are out there today.
I wouldn't like PvP in FFXIV because to me, FFXI and FFXIV is more about lore and fun, not just about watching your back not to get ganked by kids that just get high because they killed me.
But you have the right to voice what you'd like in a game... and maybe they could open a PvP server... I just wouldn't touch that server and I don't think PvPers would like FFXIV.
My vote : FFXIV = PvE with no more than one PvP server.. and I think it should be Realm vs Realm... would make more sense too.

I am one of the biggest PvP fans out there, I ve tried all the games that claim to be the best at PvP. That said no way in hell do I want anything more then what FFXI had. A few variations maybe, for the factions to fight over. Like maybe have the land change ownership due to contested fights compiled over a week, as well as the way they did it in FFXI. This game will be a gem IMO and this is from someone who hates games that have no PvP in them. FFXI was tied for my fave game of all time, ties with DAOC, complete opposite games, but both done well. Can t wait for FFXIV.
what I would like to see are PVP servers and PVE servers. Its the only smartest thing to do Square-enix..
You see the problem with this is, balancing issues. Your taking resources away from fixing the game to fixing balance issues that the PvP'ers will be crying about.. PvP/PvE servers solves nothing.

No one would ever kill an HNM because players would be fighting each other, HNM would be fighting players. It would be chaos. Guilds would start locking certian zones down if possible killing anyone who tried to come in. Keep PvP out of FFXIV dont like it by all means go play Aion, SW, GW2.

Never once did I say to change the focus, all i said was ADD some pvp FEATURES.
No one wants FF to switch focus, their PVE is the best, i just want to be able to PVP if i feel like it.

IMO, PvP isn't the place for a story driven game. It's meant for sandbox games like EvE.

Well I repeat again your assumptions are stupid sorry to say just because we want a PVE focused game means that we were ganked lots of times and hated it? lol seriously you better stop assuming and get better facts first.
PVE also means that will have a pretty story line and SE has always done an excellent work why should they change their priority because some pvp guy wants more pvp imo.

You want to know why they have a "lock" on the PvE aspect? because they dont waste their time on PvP.
PvE is never truely locked down. Unlike PvP, PvE has to be continually added to because its not self generating like PvP is. EvE goes round and round because of the players are the content. FFXI goes round and round because the enviroment is the content, and there is a massive amount of it. If you shift focus to PvP, PvE will start to suffer. Or take resources away from PvE to do PvP , your PvE will suffer.
I still think down the road they should have a PvP class where that class is the only PvP class. It would be extremly easy to balance one class, they could make a town where matches took place and keep a ranking system. But PvP'ers arnt about fair PvP so who knows.

I didn't play ffxi for very long since I didn't like the UI and found it slow, but I acknowledge that it is a long running successful title. I am a bit dissapointed that XIV is not going to put more of an emphasis on PVP because it seems like it has a class system that would support competitive pvp in that it lets you easily change what you are playing and would give teams a lot of customization/build options.
Pve can be good for a while, but its usually very easy and repetitive most of the time and thus very boring. Fighting a usually dumb AI just doesn't give the same thrill that fighting another skilled person gives.
I like many here dislike level/gear based pvp that supports ganking/griefing and basically skrews over newbies and casuals, but as long as the pvp is kept competitive then it can be a real blast.
Keep praying, Final Fantasy is about as far from PvP focused as you can get. It's totally against the feel and message most FF games try to get across.

honestly, i would rather not see it in this game any more then you do in 11. Its bad enough that 11 can be know for breeding elitists. the last thing i want is 14 to be know for the horrible pvp communities that are out there today.
I wouldn't like PvP in FFXIV because to me, FFXI and FFXIV is more about lore and fun, not just about watching your back not to get ganked by kids that just get high because they killed me.
But you have the right to voice what you'd like in a game... and maybe they could open a PvP server... I just wouldn't touch that server and I don't think PvPers would like FFXIV.
My vote : FFXIV = PvE with no more than one PvP server.. and I think it should be Realm vs Realm... would make more sense too.

what I would like to see are PVP servers and PVE servers. Its the only smartest thing to do Square-enix..
I am one of the biggest PvP fans out there, I ve tried all the games that claim to be the best at PvP. That said no way in hell do I want anything more then what FFXI had. A few variations maybe, for the factions to fight over. Like maybe have the land change ownership due to contested fights compiled over a week, as well as the way they did it in FFXI. This game will be a gem IMO and this is from someone who hates games that have no PvP in them. FFXI was tied for my fave game of all time, ties with DAOC, complete opposite games, but both done well. Can t wait for FFXIV.
You see the problem with this is, balancing issues. Your taking resources away from fixing the game to fixing balance issues that the PvP'ers will be crying about.. PvP/PvE servers solves nothing.
just think for 1 second FFA PvP:
No one would ever kill an HNM because players would be fighting each other, HNM would be fighting players. It would be chaos. Guilds would start locking certian zones down if possible killing anyone who tried to come in. Keep PvP out of FFXIV dont like it by all means go play Aion, SW, GW2.
