You don't need Dust to play EVE.

If Dust is no good, it can trouble CCP only not you.

Dude, a mechanism of EVE will depend on Dust. should probably read out it, eh?

The guys concern could have merit, even though its a bit soon to panic.

It will not depend on it, it will be connected.

Until more information about planetary control, sovereignty changes or Dust is given out, that is all we know.

Anything else is just wild guesses.

As long as Ambulation is still go and hasn't been scrapped for this Dust project I support it, wish they'd tell us more. Damn yous CCP! :P

Ok.. still im conserned about of if it sucks and no 1 plays it...

    But

every true ultra EVE g33k Will buy this.. for the love of the eve universe.  actually i think dust will have more eve players than new players.

YES it is true that no one force me to play dust. but dust is eve and i dont wanna miss eve.. so in a way i Am forced to buy it....

i belive CCP once said that all eve updates will be free forever... so this game is in the eve universe its even a part of eve... and its NOT at all free.. i need a playstation , the game and maybe even a monthly payment.. wth

    However

on eve-o.com ive found somthing they call "mini eve" i think this is somekinda mini game they want in eve.. now if Dust is this free mini game that we can run from ingame. im happy again !

and if you look at videos of CCP people talking about dust they have a crazy smile every time they are asked about dust for pc. so i guess anything could happen.. CCP does tend to suprise...

Do you expect to get every game based on Star Wars IP for free just because you already own one copy?

Dust 514 is no expansion, thus it is not for free.

    this is confusing

Dust isent EVE its 2 different games but Dust and EVE are connected so that Dust actually are EVE..  so what is it?

so to play EVE "the totalt experince"  i need Dust.

to play EVE as it is today i dont need Dust.

and im 1 of those guys that wanna play "the totalt experince"

so to me its the same as a expansion.

And yes i did expect to get EVE "the total experince"  from the EVE i  know today without paying for any "expansion".. since CCP have ben so smart about their "all updates are free"

The fact that there will be some connection between EVE and Dust does not make it one piece.

Dust 514 is not expaning EVE Online but EVE universe, I guess this part confused you.

Wow, dude. Reading this makes my head hurt.

    Anyways..

Dust isn't an expansion (as stated before). You don't need Dust to get the "total experience". Eve is still Eve. Dust is Dust.

The fact that they are connected does NOT make them the same (as stated by Gdemami).

It's not like there is something extra in Eve you can't get because you don't have Dust. They're not allowing Dust players to get into Jove space or anything.

You might say that planetary combat is "something extra you can't get in Eve", but it's not part of Eve per se. It's Dust.

You must seperate them in your mind. Just like you seperate peanut butter & jelly. They're two seperate things, but work together.

This actually sounds like a great gameplay concept to me.  Do your homework and hire a reliable Marine Company.  Units that are good will be highly sought after and well paid.  if you hire a no-name unit for a discount price... well you get what you paid for.

Opens up the door for backdoor politics and betrayal too, sounds like Eve at its finest.

They are two separate games that will work in tandem.  Just play whatever you enjoy.  Chances are a person who enjoys Eve won't enjoy Dust, and vice-versa... they are basically on two completely different ends of the spectrum and marketed to two totally different gaming crowds.

Exactly. More interaction, less target POS with lasers go AFK for an hour.

hell a new server will never happen.

and devs have made that extremely clear. it would destroy what eve is.

I activated my account 6 months ago after hearing that there's a new big update coming in EvE. The update was awesome but after a while it bores the heck out of me. Now that they announced the Dust project, and neglect to give us info of the ambulation project that they promise ages ago, I'm canceling my two accounts again after the fanfest! I may not be back again for a while or never at all. Goodluck to CCP.

We are freaking out because the average console player who doesn't have a PC, has the attention span of a fucking 5 year old.

your average fanboy of the shitbox or pos3 doesn't know the concept of investment and patience.

Which are concepts that eve is built upon.

And the average eve-online player plays it to soak in the complexity, not run from it.

We have a lot to lose and nothing to gain.

The dust players have a lot to gain in terms of a new game, but nothing to lose in terms of investment.

    ie. bad idea.

I really do love how you degrade the FPS/RTS console community and make unfounded, gross generalizations about the people who play them while at the same time toting your community (namely the EVE community) as the superior form of gaming. It really rubs me raw how some EVE players are so fucking pompous.

  • PoopyStuffPoopyStuff Member Posts: 297

And everything I said is true

An mmo like eve takes months of investment to get anywhere

a console player who only plays consoles does not play games like that

its an attempted merger of two communities that are not compadiable.

Some people are probably reaching for the pitchforks because they are genuinely concerned that it could have a negative impact on EVE but many others are afraid that it would change the balance of power away from nap trains and titans and cap blobs and make things more dynamic because many of the current space holders literally do not deserve the territory they own because it was either given to them or thier allies have to come and bail them out when the going gets tough.

And this isnt a swipe at any group in particular its been this way in both the GBC and the NC.

If Dust allows smaller groups to form thier own clans or to find a reliable and competant clan to interfer in the sov process in such a way that it doesnt matter how many people you nap or how many cyno jammers you have it would be a huge shake up from the current status quo, whether thats a good thing for the game we wont know until it happens and depends on how well the mechanics of Dust are designed and function.

But yes its bold and ambitous and its going to be really exciting to see if it will deliver everything it promises.

    Currently playing:

EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)

    Gravity Rush,
    Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.

    (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light,
    Company of Heroes II.

CCP said months ago that the Winter 09 expansion wasn't going to have Ambulation

The Summer 10 expansion is called Incarna. Guess what's happening with that?

Yeah, I think your starting to zero in on it. I also think CCP is in a tight spot when it comes to how to deal w/ the monster they have created. This defiantly isn't pouring love on the whole big alliance thing and that’s where the fear stems from IMHO

From talking in-game, a lot of the alliance "grunts" are just glad the POS grind is going to go away. Dont assume that everyone who lives in 0.0 has the same or even similar views.
