What the hell is happening in this game, are there no GM's working? I ask this because every time we open a report we have to wait sometimes 48 hours for an answer.
And because of this the game is full of gold sellers, on my server we cant even speak on the trade channel such is the spam.
Every day there are hunderds of corpses in Ironforge forming gamesites names, new lvl 1 characters are created every second and suddenly teleport to the main cities to spam advertisings and no one seems to do a thing about it.
I read every day people saying that asian games have problems with botting and gold selling and it seems everyone forgets to mention WoW is being completely taken over by them also.

Blame the gold buyers, without them there wouldn't be a market and the issue would go away. Everyone who buys gold is to blame for the gold seller problem in every MMO.
Thats kind of an infinite circle isnt it? Without buyers there are no sellers, but if there are no sellers there are no buyers
No not a circle at all. Plenty of companies go under because they make goods that no one wants to buy.
It is simply a cause and effect, players will read the gold seller chat spam (or dead body spam) and then go buy gold from them. That rewards the behaviour and makes the company money so they continue the practice.
As soon as people get some common sense and stop buying gold those companies will start losing money and won't be around to spam anymore.
There can always be sellers but there doesn't have to be buyers, no circle involved.
So, according to your point of view, the costumers are to blame alone. Theres no responsability of the game companys to try to shutdown those companys. Or at least i see the same names over and over on the chat and the same gold selling companies envolved, so, theres no action taken against them. As long as their bots and advertising guys keep paying the accounts right?
Actually my experience is quite opposite. I am seeing less gold spamming in chats and I have not received a goldseller whisper in months. Gold seller spam used to be a major pain when BC just came out but now it is a rarity for me. When I go to Stormwind there are those dead level 1s trying to spell something but noone pays attention to them since they do not cause a nuisance.
Yep..GM tickets used to get anwer in 10 minutes i remember...now i put a ticket on and 2 days later i have an ingame mail from them lol
But nevermind..blizz is getting huge amounts of dollars and they pay less GMs to work..so more income...
They won't keep paying the accounts if they go bankrupt because no one buy their gold
Edit: But yeah for a game like wow making hundreds of millions theres no excuse for not hiring some random dudes to ban them on sight , you don't even need a degree to do that .
Correct.

I stopped playing this game in 2005 and even back then it was infested with Gold Sellers....I'm surprised anyone finds that surprising these days....the parasites infest just about every game these days.
Whats makes me really mad is that a company with this kind of profits could hire 4 or 5 ppl that went online on random servers and could ban like 10 or 20 of them in half an hour if not less. They can see the name of the spammer, check the account it belongs and ban.... but they wont do this and why?
I dont know, but this is very fishy to me.
The fact is that i admit i dont see much bots nowadays, in fact i dont remenber seeing any bot, so, where does the money come from?
Yes. The gold buyers are 100% responsible for this. And you are starting to sound like someone who has in fact bought gold but is mad that the gold sellers are breaking game immersion for you.
Every MMO company out there tries to stop the problem, but the gold sellers create new accounts every second and use different cards (often times stolen I hear) to setup these accounts. This makes any kind of automation impossible at stopping them, which in turn means people have to sit there all day and track/delete these guys who are creating guys every second. It is a losing battle and all the company can do is lessen the effect.
So once again as in my other posts, and the posts that agreed with me, the people who buy gold are at fault so complain to them.
Totally agree, 100% the buyers fault. Without customers a business dies. Theres only so much money and so many man hours that a company can spend on trying to battle these spammers and still make enough of a profit to make the investors happy.
Playing Fallen Earth.
No one buys gold...gold sellers go away because they need other jobs.
Typical, try to shift the blame away from the individual.
It's against the EULA to buy currency, you click "I agree" everytime you log in.
So does the company have a "responsibility" to do anything about it? That's entirely up to them. they are not obligated to anything for you but take your money and in exchange give you access, even that, they can take away on a whim if they feel like it. Anything else is their discretion.
The players created the beast, the players can deal with the beast.
The Gamemasters are most definitely doing something about it because somehow*, my account name and password were discovered by one of these dirtbag goldsellers, and they created probably 40 level 1 characters to spam announcements in the capital cities. The GMs banned the account, and emailed me telling me that the account was banned for spamming advertisements. I assured them that under no circumstances would I have ever done that, and they investigated, found I had not logged into that account in several weeks so was not at fault, and they restored the account to me.
On a related side note, every single one of my characters had been deleted, and the 40 characters the spammer had made were all on different servers, in different capital cities. The Gamemasters restored my characters, to include my main character at the time, an Undead warlock with over 1000 gold on her. The stupid gold spammers didn't even loot me before deleting all the characters, so when the characters were restored, I got absolutely everything back. It was as if the entire ordeal never happened.
So, yes, the Gamemasters are doing something to try and stop the gold spammers. Granted, if someone made 40 characters on my account and spammed with all of them, the GMs are definitely not really getting anything accomplished very quickly...
(Not that I really care, I only play World of Warcrap on very, VERY rare ocassions because my wife wants me to play it with her. As much as I think World of Warcrap sucks, the option to play a Goblin or Werewolf will steal some more money out of my pocket, if even for one month.)
* Not even my wife gets my account passwords!
Right click the sellers name in chat and press "report" when they get a few reports they are silenced until a GM looks into it.
If every one did this a gold seller would be dealt with within a few spams.
As some have said gold spam is rare, ill get a few when I visit IF or SW but that's about it. that's on the hi-pop server Grimbatol.
Although I would like to see more GM's if we take the western servers which amount to around 450 servers, if each server had 4 GM's who's sole job was to monitor chat channels and deal with spammers, that's 1800 people, add to that the 1000's who deal with tickets and in game issues and we start to see how big the GM force would need to be. Bottom line its not cost effective.
I would keep the game clean no doubt, it wont stop spam though, after all you cannot ban a spammer until hes spammed at which point its too late. The Report tool blizzard gives all players is fine, people just have to use it.
Since when does clicking report mute anyone?
Also, I believe you are GROSSLY overestimating how many people handle tickets for World of Warcrap.
I type /ignore and I RARELY if EVER see any in trade chat.
Sorry that your server is having such an issue.
Lol, yeah, because it is just THAT simple!!
By the time the spammer has got to a city and spammed it has done it's job anyway, so if the account is banned, not a problem, just create the next or crack open a hacked account and on with the show. Then what about the starter area 'whisper' spammers??
I do agree that there is a pretty simple solution to all of this and i mentioned it on these boards many moons ago. Two simple steps that would not really be any trouble to real players and would put a stop to a vast majority of spam;
1 - No players under L10 allowed in a major city
2 - No player under L10 allowed to whisper any player more than 3-5 levels above them.
Those two measures alone would cut spam straight away and allow Blizzard to track spammers much more easily. All that being said, for the amount of time i spend in major cities anyway and the one whisper every couple of days or so, it is no more than a minor issue from a personal perspective.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
You should try it the next time you go on, it does ignore them for you after you report them. I done it every time I saw one and I wouldn't be surprised if it did completely mute them after so many reports.
Currently playing EverQuest 2
WoW has next to no gold spammers anymore they get banned very fast. haven't seen one for a few months on my server

Don't get me wrong, that's pretty damn awesome if it does work that way. I've always been an ignore first, report after kinda guy.
I feel ya. I usually go that route too, but with gold spammers it is a different story with me
Currently playing EverQuest 2
Runes of Magic did well in allowing addons (much like World of Warcrap) and several people have spewed forth different gold-spammer blocking addons. If I played World of Warcrap, I'd be out looking for such an addon for that game (from Curse.com).
I blame the game not the gold seller. the company should find another way to make people work for items besides the idiotic grind of gold. Maybe complete certain quests...kill so many of x...be part of a group or solo that kills x...things like that.
Just install the Spamenot addon its not hard, you will get zero gold spam in chat and all those annoying tells blocked from goldsellers. But to be honest this should be an in game feature anyway blizzard could put something similar this in the client, but they don't?
