Don't listen to MrPhire.  No one from NCSoft ever said that GameGuard would be removed from Aion.

The only thing that was ever stated against GG by an NCSoft employee was that they understand player's frustration with GG and were looking for possible alternatives.

But, a week or so later it was posted in one of the Aion twitter feeds that GameGuard would not be removed from Aion.

GameGuard has been part of Lineage 2 for a while now and even though hundreds / thousands of people complain about it, it's not going anywhere.  Aion will be no different.

Now.  I hate GameGuard.  Not because of the crashing or error messages it causes, but because it makes a game seem cheap, causes issues with legitimate programs and hardware, and does absolutely nothing to stop cheaters.

The only thing that GameGuard does do is causes legitimate players to become frustrated.

Having said that.  I have absolutely no idea what the OP is talking about.  From the gibberish I could decipher it seems like GameGuard detected a virus on his computer and he couldn't get it removed so he had to reformat.  Which would not have been GameGuard's fault.  And actually would be a good thing because there's no telling what that file was doing to your system.

Am I correct in that assumption, OP?  Because, honestly, it's really hard to tell what you're talking about.

Ok well I am sorry for the misinformation. But damn do you bite everyone's head off? Fuck. Also whats the date/time on the tweet, and blame someone else for spreading that info. I find GG as an excuse for being cheap. But the OP should just wait for the launch and then bitch about the errors. A lot of the errors atm are because A) Aion servers are down and B) GG servers tend to be updating for the specific game as well. So as I said sit back relax. When Sept 6th comes around any real issue with be found. Ohh and by the way, your an asshole.

Good job u just stated what i stated... please read all posts before posting ignorantly

    , Thank you

I'm sorry that I did. But just so you know, that post was directed at some one else not the public. I have also been saying that in multiple posts. Hell my original post on this forum says it. You stated what I stated. I didn't post ignorantly, I did post out of response to someone else calling me a fool. You are late to the game sir.

    Your welcome.

Um.... ok... I must have completely missed where I bit your head off.  The only thing I said about you at all was that the other posters should not listen to what you said because it was wrong.

I don't know how much more politely I could have stated that.  It's not like I went off on you like "LOL MrPhire, you are a n00b!! You iz so stoopid cuz u don't know what u talk about!  STFU NOOB!"

Um, no.. I didn't.  I only said "Don't listen to MrPhire."  I didn't mean, NEVER listen to you.  I just meant that what you posted about GameGuard being removed was incorrect, which I explained after the ONLY thing in my entire post I wrote about you.

Aren't you being a little over sensitive?

Edit:  I never thought it was you who originally started spreading the rumor that GG would be removed, I just thought I would try to keep it from spreading further considering there could be a lot of upset people that visit all of the different Aion forums when the game is released with GameGuard still there.

    Never meant to offend you.

Ayase from NCsoft West can be quoted as saying "I think we're getting these polls on a regular basis and I just want to assure you that we're *very* aware of what the majority of users here think about GameGuard. If anything can be changed or altered in regards to this, trust that we're looking into it already." in a post on the Aionsource forums. Also, there is apparently a letter floating around from another PlayNC employee to the developers of GG that if they dont improve the quality of their product they will be looking for another source to suit their needs.

Yeah that came out wrong... Considering someone else wanted to call me ignorant for stating something that he supposively stated before me when I stated before him... I'm sorry I responded that way to you, it just seemed like you called me an ignorant S.O.B. which is not at all what you had said.

Yep, thanks for backing me up.

I dug up the Twitter post too.  It was from a few days ago.

Here's the link to the tweets: twitter.com/#search

Edit: No problem MrPhire.  I definitely did not mean to insult you in any way, no hard feelings!

Oh and, Matsugo did you have a link to what I highlighted in blue above.  I remember reading about that but I can't find an official word on it anywhere, only forum-goers talking about it.

    Hello Mike,

So disabling GameGuard in the manner you described made the game playable for you? Interesting.

Thank you for letting us know how this workaround was employed. When you originally mentioned that this fixed the issue (in your response back on 7/20/09) there was some argument about whether or not GameGuard was the problem. The discussion that followed, and the other troubleshooting suggestions given after that response, were focused on finding a different source for the problem.

If I understand you correctly, then you can get the game to launch/load and reach the login screen without a GameGuard error. This is possible because of the disable details you provided in your last message.

    Do I have that right?

Yes after using what was posted i could just use the Ncsoft launcher like i was before click play and game would load up . I could always get to the log in screen before i used this workround it was until i tryed logging in i would get any type of error i am sorry for not making that clear before.

    Response (Mike C.) 07/21/2009 01:51 PM

    Hello Mike,

No problem at all. So at this point, you can run the game and get logged in without the GameGuard issue occurring again. I'd say that your best bet is to run the game in this configuration until GameGuard receives its next update. Perhaps that will help address some of the conflicts with other customers' systems and security applications.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,

    Mike C.

sidenote... what i did disables at for good... it doesnt even load so updates dont mean anything.

I play games just like you

I can't find the actual post, only references to it which isnt suprising considering all the anti GG post on the aionsource forums, also and I'm not sure how big of an issue its going to be but  with December not to far away, and bringing the release of Windows 7, Game Guard apparently isnt even able to run with it as of yet with something as big as an entire OS you figured they would be working on that and having it ready to go. I personally hope they drop GG, it's never been anyhting but a problem the times i've dealt with it, and with all the other stable, less intrusive options around I'm sure NC soft could find a product to suit their needs and make the gamers happy as well.  IMO, they should just use something similar to Warden where it lays low and does what they want, or need it to do and stays out of sight and mind of the gamer.
