So you think that some random guy making a topic with the subject "WoW's servers are always down" or whatever equates to WoW's downtime being longer and more frequent than EQ2's downtime?
They go down once a day for about 15 minutes. One hour at the max.
It's scheduled. You know when they're going to be down, you know when they're going to be up. They are taken down at the time the least amount of gamers are in game.
That is all. Is this something to complain about? Is it something to complain about that a company is trying to give you the best bang for your buck by maintaining the game?
I don't see why you guys are putting up hissy fits!
Shows right there that WoW servers are brought down 4 hours a week. EQII servers bearly scrape 2 hours. Your point that you keep making "wow is down less" is not justified.
Thank you for your efforts to turn this thread into a "eqii sucks, wow roolz!!11" thread, but they are futile. Facts always rise above your opinions.
As someone who has played WoW and not EQ2 in retail, I find it hard to imagine EQ2 could possibly have more downtime than WoW. Azgalor server crashed two times tonight alone, and the login servers were down for 10 minutes after each crash.
All I heard from EQ2 the first month is how great the servers were running, and how they had the "smoothest launch ever".
All I experienced during the first week of WoW is lag and server downtimes. The server I originally joined was brought down for 3 days during the first week of release. So I joined another server and I had to settle for not looting any items for the first few days, because if I looted an item it would give me a 10 minute lag spike(and that's not an exaggeration). After the first week the lag has pretty much ceased to exist, but the login server seems to go down for an hour every night, and there are quite a few server crashes. Just a few days ago Blizzard gave away another free day because they had a 10+ hour downtime.
I still hear from many people that the servers are still running good in EQ2.. not great, but good. And I can say that in WoW, at least my server, is not even close to running good.

It's time to get the message and move to another server. I did the smart thing and moved a couple days into retail when I realised the one I'd originally picked was always gonna be high population. I moved to one that has a steady medium population and I haven't had any problems whatsoever apart from scheduled downtime.
Also, remember WoW has many more servers running than EQ2 does so I'd say on average EQ2 is down more often than WoW. I can't verify this, and I may be wrong. If anyone cares enough to research this it could be interesting to see the results, but I certainly don't.

I verified my part. You can't verify yours. That shows you something right there, bud.
Oh and I think I forgot to mention a couple of the servers still have a 500+ waiting line to get into the server(thankfully I'm not on one of those servers).
And I could have moved to another server, but then I would of had to move my entire guild(again). If I knew how much of a difference it would have made, then yes, I would have moved. And to be honest I didn't think Azgalor was going to be highly populated. Azgalor was one of the servers brought up with the second "group", but how was I to know there was going to be 80ish servers when they were all done? As it stands now, I have a level 42 and 28 character on that server, so I'm not going to move now...

How did you verify it? By showing me a thread where someone claims WoW is down a lot?
Nope.
Try getting exact details of downtime on all EQ2 servers since retail and all WoW servers since retail, then calculate the averages of those downtimes based on the incongruency in the number of servers in each game. Then come back and tell me you verified your statement.
Murti, notice I have stopped even answering firemagic.
I mean just look at his posts past and present , he is so engulfed by SoE that he makes it his 24/7 occupation.Very unhealthy. If you point that out to him,you are insulting him(he has no insight into his problems).
Really do you want to go into an arguement with someone whose life revolves around hating a company that makes game?

There you go, I've already verified, buddy.
and Hercules, I tried doing that at the beginning, but his ignorance is just so great I had to reply.
I guess you can't educate the ones that have on thing on their mind, flaming a company they know nothing about.
Someone just said they're taking EQ2 servers down for max 1hr a day every day. How does that work out less than 4hrs a week? You seem to be twisting the rules of math to suit your own opinions, but since the discussion is about unscheduled downtime, I guess it's back to the drawing board for you.
It became apparent to me long ago that people who play EQ2 are able to suspend rational thought for extended periods of time anyway. Ya know... The graphics are realistic (LOL), there's no grind (LMAO), there's no lag (HAHAHAHHA!!!), and SOE have good customer service (ROFL!)
But yes, ignore me, Murt. I accept your admittance of defeat. (And check my signature for an apt definition of ignorance).
Oh, and to the genius who posted (without any evidence, and just to suit their own delusions) that I haven't played EQ2, I have. I'd be in no position to comment otherwise.

I guess GK Chesterton lived in the same world of delusion that you EQ2 players live in.
If you're really so small-minded and childlike to believe that the only way life could develop is if an invisible man who's impossible to detect and yet we somehow know about him (despite the fact he's never been detected) created it, then I suggest you get an education.
And I accept the fact that you discarded the argument at hand to inadequately attack my avatar as further admittance of your defeat.

Well since atheism is a complete lack of religion, I definitely didn't bring religion into it.
And what in the name of Jesus H Christ does religion have to do with EQ2's unscheduled downtime?
Technically neither did Firemagic, he has a lack of religion, so he didn't bring religion to the table, he actually took it away. On a lighter note to each his own in gaming, religion, sexual practice, and politics. It takes all to make the world the nice sick place we know and love http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861587466/atheist.html
