I have a feeling that the real issue is that the NCSoft account manager (website) is down so that nobody can actually add the Aion beta to their account. Frustrating, but not completely unexpected. I'm sure they'll get it up and running here soon.

I think that is the case - the launcher is giving server errors, too. Bad slip-up, NCSoft, but bear with them. I'm sure they're getting slammed.
you all should have gotten an email about a few days ago telling you to reset your password.... you MUST reset your password to play OB.. even if you reset it to the same password.... i sure there is some reason for this but who knows
If you need to reset then you will have to logon to plaync account management ... which is getting about 1million hits and refreshes so it will take some goood time to get this done
...and to think I was actually bummed I was going to miss the launch of ob toda because I'm stuck at work. Heh, you think by now I would know better.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I got the same problem at first but it says on thier site (Aion) that if you were in the closed beta you need to change your password to get in now. Once I went to NCSOFT's master account page and logged in (though its extremely slow right now) it pretty much has a big banner telling you to change your Aion password.
I did that and was able to log in. However the servers keep going up and down so even if your lucky enough to get into the game, you'll probably be kicked out within a few minutes.
It's irritating but what the heck. I'd rather have them have this issue today (reminds me of the first days of L2..similar database issues) than when the live game opens up and our characters are permanent.
Gotta love how the NSCOFT Account Management page is down due to SCHEDULED maintenance. They are so full of shit!!
I feel dumb for missing the email that told us to reset our passwords, but... I can't even find one!
I didn't miss mine but all I got from them was 'Thank you for creating your presales game account! Once you are approved for beta testing, or you activate the game with the serial code from your final product, you will be able to log in.' (last week and I was in CB months ago). Nothing about changing the PW.
For anyone seeing that error. You have to change the PW on your game account or you get 'ID or PW doesn't match'. The account Mgmt site is down though so you can't make any changes.

The only email I got from NCSoft was when they were dicking around with converting accounts. There was an email about "your account has been created blah blah".
The NCSoft rep that posts on Aionsource said that email should not have gone out and to ignore it. So now you have some fairly large group (I assume) of people who can't access the game .. because they have to change the password they had already picked. WTF? I have never played, beta'd etc a game that ever did this..
And... nobody knows until the day open beta starts and nobody can access account management.
I'm not "upset" as I was playing DAoC with my guild today... its just the point that to have a job you used to have to be competent at it. This is really... just sad.. imho.
Once upon a time the person(s) who were given the task to let people know they were supposed to do this... would no longer have jobs. Especially in the current job market where they are easily replaced.
Heck one place I worked when a person did something similar to this.. they didn't fire them. They just made them call every customer they had affected and apologize.
*edit* I did want to add that while not upset I am irritated.. obviously.
The reason is simple. Over the history of MMO's the one constant is lack of communication. Most things that upset customers are due to lack of communication. Such as a server goes down but there is no official word on it... where simply if someone took the 60 seconds to put up a thing that they were aware of it.. problem solved.
To me this is the same thing they should have sent emails (we have two account on different emails.. neither one got any email about updating the password... which is not something we have ever had to do or would have expected to have to do. I mean I've beta'd most games since Ultima Online.. the only time I changed a password was when I chose to.

Same problem, I asume the acount verification server got blown up.
If you go to the ncsoft acount website its down for maintenance, so I asume there login servers couldnt handle the load.
Wierd... I have an American key from my gamestop order, and live in the US, but my addcache.xml shows this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <GameAdditions xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
- <Arguments>
-ip:206.127.153.247 -port:2106 -cc:1
<Value Regions="EU">-ip:206.127.147.28 -port:2106 -cc:2</Value>
</Arguments>
</GameAdditions>
Isnt that obviously for the EU version? And if so, what SHOULD it be for the US?

I just got a response form NCSOFT
They have corrupted the account database, and only fileplanet accounts are working. sorry for the incovience.
I have two aion accounts with active keys due to the fileplanet/aion cluseterf*ck
I live in northamerica and the euro key gives the user and pass do not match. However I can log in with the NA key but now the game servers are down.
Same here, can't log-in.
Yeah, my friend and I had the same issue. He changed his info and is on. Site went down before I could change mine
"Can't... Sleep... The Carebears... Will get... Their way..."
I have one of each. A Gamestop pre-order, and fileplanet OB key. Neither one work.
It's now saying we have another hour before OB.

OH did I say Fileplanet?
I meant only Eurogamer accounts are working
