And tbh, War had the BEST first 20 or so levels, with the ability to PvP, scenario, PQ. PvP at level 1, and fighting against higher levels, yet being at least "level 8", made it amazing to try out alts.
Post 20ish, the game was pretty terrible, especially with the pop issue.
Aion described short: wings, grind, goldsellers paradise. I think many who hit level 20-30 range realize the horrifying grind and quit.
No offence, but i'ts safe to say you haven't even played Aion let alone past level 20, if you did you would know that past level 20 a lot of new areas open and you get a huge amount of quests, there is no grind in Aion it's why Ncsoft has introduced over 1500 new quests in the latest patch.
At level 20 every class starts blooming, so take your fail somewhere else instead of bashing aion, especially something you have absolutely no idea about.
Goldsellers paradise ? again a proof that you are not playing the beta, there is not one single goldsellers advertism going on ..because there arent any.
Sorry NEWHOPES but i think your wrong. There will be a percentage that have been hearing the overhype and will truly be let down when they leave WAR to go to Aion. Some will be back if only because WAR was the only thing they were playing before Aion and if they quit they will want something to play and they will go back to something familiar, until the next ""big mmo" comes out.
Even tho WAR's endgame may be a lil borked atm, i still think it has more potential than any game out or coming out atm to bring back their population.
As any vetran knows WAR has had issues since release, but only since Aion has been being beta'd and release announced have people really been SCREAMING /ragequit over some of these issues. Most people have fought thru the "issues" because they actually like WAR and want to see it succeed and there wasnt anything new to play. Now a new game is on the horizon some see it as " grass may be greener on the other side" type deal.
At least on my server (Dark Crag) now that the tide has turned and order is getting ROLLED daily they are blaming bugs for their exodus to AION,which is nothing more than an excuse because their EZMODE has been taken away. When Order were winning they never complained about any bugs, exploits, crashes, lag, etc. Now that they are losing BADLY all the excuses come out cuz they really just want to try Aion and cant take losing so they blame some OLD bugs that have been around for there reason for leaving.
Its a rather pathetic sight when one side fights thru population imbalance,op classes, bugs, lag, etc for 8 months while getting their butts kicked, to finally start winning to have the other side start to lose and blame their losing on every fault they can find in WAR instead of just taking it like a man and fighting back------------now its WAR sucks and has to many bugs thats why were losing so were going to Aion ,when destro fought thru twice as many problems. ORDER ON DC ARE THE WHINIEST SORE LOSERS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN ANY MMO OVER THE PAST 9 YEARS.
No the Honeymoon is already over for Aion. People are finally seeing it for the Korean Grinder that it is. It will be a neiche game just like Linage II in the states.
Just left WAR with a 150 man allience with a good number of those having already played on the Chinese Aion servers I doubt any of them will be going back to WAR, I also know for a fact large portions of a number of other allience are going and most of the servers 6 man groups have already decided on which of the head start servers there going to, to be short even if people did want to go back at least on the server I'am leaving they won't be much to come back to.
I played Aion, but I did not care for it. I actualy just resubed to WAR for the wild hunt event and the one year anniversary. I have had a lot of fun. T1-T3 are full of people. WAR still needs more work, but that has not stopped me from enjoying it.
People keep saying AION is bad, blah blah blah and people will be back to WAR after they find out how bad.
The thing is, by the time those people realize they don't like it, WAR's PvP population would have shrunk so bad, that the people who were still left won't have anything to do. Those are the people you should be worrying about, not the ones leaving. Most people play a game for a few months before quitting; just look at how long people gave WAR to drag itself out of the gutter and they are still waiting (poor Marauders).
Some of those people are the Last Holdouts, the true fanbois and they don't have much patience left. They've also got to be tired of rerolling. They also are tired of the same old keeps, and city sieges that don't happen but only for one side. If I had played WAR for a whole year and then a ton of people left, I wouldn't be waiting for them to all come back just so I could kill them. Plus, many people are back to school so I'm sure that game is D E A D during the daytime in the U.S. on most servers (night probably too)
Making talismans for sixty more days until those other people get "bored" with AION doesn't sound like fun. Neither does killing the same guild over/over/over because there's only a few big ones left anymore.
I played the Aion beta for a few days but just couldnt get into it at all, It felt alot like some kind of F2P Asian MMO, their PvP conecpt kind of reminded me of RF online, It could be a great game once you get into PvP but It just didnt feel like anything special to me so I'll be passing on Aion.

I respect your personal point of view... but I'm not sure how this relates to the thread topic. You made no mention of WAR just compared Aion to RF Online and said you would pass on it...
As to the topic I don't think anyone who is actually still in WAR is going to quit until there is no one left to kill. Quite honestly if they have stayed there this long... then they have picked it as their game. I had played on PT (was about the most populated RP server in the game at one time.. in fact at one time it was one of the most populated servers period). I turned WAR on for a month again about 20 days ago... as I was back in DAoC.
My character was only T3 but there was no one there. So I went to the capital city and saw 2 other Order players. I know some had to be in T4 and there were probably others in lotd... but when I had last played... I saw a lot of players still.
I don't think Aion is really going to affect what is left...
I do think that EA will make a choice about WAR and DAoC after The Old Republic launches. That is just my perspective.. but after TOR launches I think if WAR and DAoC are still doing badly.. then you cna talk about "the final nail". I just don't think its going to involve another companies MMO... as much as TOR.
I think EA will want all resources into TOR after the 860+ Million they invested in BioWare.. and they are actually launching UO into more markets with Net Dragon (as opposed to merging servers).
The replayability in Aion is the lowest of any MMO that I've played.
That is because it is a pvp focus game first and pve second. It's not like wow where you can roll alts out your yeng yang
In order to be one of the top pvpers on a server you are going to have to focus on one class. Alt's are a no-no if you want to be the 1% pvper.
Now the pve crowd that is coming to aion will roll alts because that is what they do.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
That is because it is a pvp focus game first and pve second. No, it isn't. It's not like wow where you can roll alts out your yeng yang In order to be one of the top pvpers on a server you are going to have to focus on one class. Alt's are a no-no if you want to be the 1% pvper. How do you determine who the top PvPers are? Abyss Points, which can be earned by killing mobs and questing? That's not PvP. Now the pve crowd that is coming to aion will roll alts because that is what they do.
Warhammer is PvP-oriented, yet has far more replayability, due to 6 starting areas, 24 classes, and the option to PvP right from the start.

You know, this is the issue with Warhammer.
An open start but a flawed and linear middle/end game is clearly an issue when we talk about a MMORPG.
AION has a linear start that opens and expand while you level generating long term gameplay, progression, attachment to your character etc
A real MMORPG is all about progression, long term appeal and not about replayability, an action single player game is all about replayability, there is no point to play the first 15 levels again, again and again.
AION is about character development, middle and endgame progression and long term gameplay.
No progression (PvP from the start creation of alts all the time), a huge game start but limited and pointless middle/endgame and replayability are good aspects of a single player/multiplayer game and everyone realized it didn't work for Warhammer.
The 24 classes is just an illusion, you have less than 12 real and working classes in War.
Aion will kill off Warhammer for sure. I am even suprised its still up and running. I think Warhammer can be listed as the most epic fail of any MMO ever. I remember when I first logged on the first thing I noticed was nobody was talking. Only a gold seller spam every minute. I would see somebody and run up to them saying hello or hi and they would just keep running like they did not even hear me. Warhammer falls in as my #2 worst MMO behind 2 Moons. LMAO
Now I know what you typed was a load of bull since you contradict yourself, gold is only advertised in popular games because thats where the demand is... they won't advertise on a dead server.
Besides there are still two servers that have a constant population at peak times so RVR and grouping is usually no problem.

In Europe anyway
(Karak-Azgal and Karak-Norn to anyone interested)
When the game was frist released there was alot of gold advertising especially mail spam as the game started to sink and when the gold sellers started to release that gold had no value they left with everyone else.

When War goes free to play, I'll play it again.
And tbh, War had the BEST first 20 or so levels, with the ability to PvP, scenario, PQ. PvP at level 1, and fighting against higher levels, yet being at least "level 8", made it amazing to try out alts.

Trust me only a very few will go back if any at all.
I wouldn t say that. War may not be great, but it is getting better. Aion is VERY overhyped!!
Aion described short: wings, grind, goldsellers paradise.
I think many who hit level 20-30 range realize the horrifying grind and quit.
WAR described short:laggy, bug ridden, no population, dying servers I could go on but It'll take to long.
Sounds alot like Wars T3-4 where 80% of WARs subs have quit.
And as for goldsellers they wouldn't touch WAR with a barge pole diying game=no profit
No offence, but i'ts safe to say you haven't even played Aion let alone past level 20, if you did you would know that past level 20 a lot of new areas open and you get a huge amount of quests, there is no grind in Aion it's why Ncsoft has introduced over 1500 new quests in the latest patch.

Bashing would be if he posted this on the Aion board, this is more like defending Warhammer since he posted it here.
Not everyone likes NCsoft designed games, and believe it or not some people actually enjoy Warhammer.
So I would reply to you take your fail somewhere else, because this is not the defend Aion forum, it is after all the Warhammer forum.

"TO MICHAEL!"
Having played WAR i see a lot of simularities regarding open world PvP with Aion .. yet more i like.
Aion has more depth than WAR and imo im sure it will kill it.
I had high hopes for this game! They still have a chance, just i cant get myself to come back till PVP has something to offer!
I dont like instant zone pvp, battlegrounds and such..
Give us a reason to go to war!?!
Anyways I wish Warhammer the best!

If they merged all of the servers, then I'm in.
