Dont' fault Aion for the playerbase coming from another game. True there is an annoying element in the player community base right now, but I'm sure they will be going back to thier precious in no time at all. On the server I play on its almost already all gone. Once they realize, by being told to shut up about WoW constantly, then they stop (or quit, or be placed on ignore).

I played wow for several years and im tired of it. Aion is looking like the next mmo on my list. I dont think it will bring down the almighty wow but i think it will do fine and will have more than enough subs to bring out new content and patches.

One major reason i think it will do just fine is based off of mmo forum activity on damn near every mmo forum on teh web. Ive seen so much shit on every forum like ''korean males look gay amirite'' . It seems that there are all kinds of posts directed at aion even if they are just beating around the bush and not saying Aion in their post.

It seems the wow fanboys are on high alert right now. Did one of the sheep make it out of the pen?

I mean good attempt, just...no. This style of play just turns into every other style of korean gameplay. 1. Have better gear and have spells queued up in the right order. Roast someone. Rinse and repeat. Just the fact that the game doesn't have a free movement system for pvp really douches it up.
I dunno, I won't be wasting my money on this. You can call me a troll or whatever you'd like but I saw the PVP videos and everything...no.
Some people will like it, probably the PVE gang.

have fun back in world of kiddiecraft !! somehow I doubt you ever really even tried this game -- regardless, on 9.22 I am buying AION, so nice try -- but that will be the day people like you influence my gaming decisions.  again, nice try.

Hahaha, I'm starting to like how you think man. And yeah, I'm planning on playing Aion for the same reasons you are. I'm tired of WoW and I see potential in Aion in the future. Its good right now, and I see its content getting better.

The forums are all a buz on it though, seems like everyone is trying thier damnedest to bash it down before it hits live too. The good news is, I think thier attempt is failing, not from what you see in the forums but what you see in the game right now. The player base is really starting to get hostile with these annoying players who are there to just cause trouble so they can come back to the forums and talk trash. Thats a good thing, what happens here doesn't means much, its what happens in the community in the game thats important. And right now that community is already banning together to clean out the trash, and its only OB still. I think the WoW fanboys are not as much worried as amazed at how much everyone really hates them already. They have it in thier heads they are the best thing in the MMO market, truth is, the MMO market doesn't like them anymore.

It's not bad, it's also just not amazing.

There is nothing that totally captivates me and makes me yearn to play it.  I am not sure why that is.  I got the feeling I had played the game before, many times.  I don't think that all players will feel that way, but it's how I did.

I wanted to like it, my guild is going to play it, and there's nothing that would be more fun than playing a fun game with the best group of people I know, I just can't find any enjoyment in it.

I'm sure many will enjoy it for a time, but it reeks of another Lineage II situation with a very strong release that peters out as people reach the higher levels.  That's just my opinion after all, hope those that choose to play find a nice home.

I'm loving the fact that directional movement while in combat has an effect on damage output and defense.

The game is nothing like WoW.  It's a bit more restrictive on the controls for auto attack yes but auto attack isn't your main weapon so it doesn't matter.  Backing away and strafe actually makes you take less damage and running forward makes you do more damage.  And smoothly without lag of any kind even in beta.  That's a testimate to the overwhelming skill the development team has.  This game is going to go a long way.

And until WoW has flying twitch based PvP, Aion already has it beat.  Aion also doesn't have an auction house for retards to exploit like in WoW (at least none of seen), you make your own little shop just like all the other Korean MMOs.  Truely player controled economy wins as well.

The first 10 levels of Aion are a true tutorial.  10-20 is an advanced tutorial.  The game happens at level 20+

I still don't see any legitimate information on sources telling me how many players it has. And so far the only information I saw recorded the first month of release, which at that point was around 1 million growing to 1.5 million. So if you can find some newspaper article or something stating "Most played game in Korean and/or China" then top that off with "Has 3.5 million players" I may believe you. Until then I don't see your argument.

P.S. I'm pretty sure last time I saw a sticker on the WoW box it said "Over 12 million" making that now closer to 1/4 than 1/3 the population"

Any game that requires me to level through 20 levels of what you call a 'tutorial' is bad game design.  If I got to experience what the game is really worth 20 levels later then it's not really that good.  It's amusing that you are even defending this game mechanic.  I feel bad if you want to level alts and have to trudge through the same 20 levels of said 'tutorial' over and over again.

Oh and the trade broker is the auction house.  You are right, it is nothing like WoW.  It's not because it tries to be like WoW and fails in multiple areas.

So people who know how to play around with undercutting, mats and other stuff are retards? Actually, that's exactly what I'd call smart. Instead of grinding the same boring dailies for 2 weeks, they sit 2 hours in front of the AH, scan it, buy cheap&sell high and bang, they get 5000 gold from that. Very few people do that, because not knowing how will give you 5%-10% more profit, lol.

And beware, they'll do the same in Aion since the system allows it. They won't be able to do a full scan, but they will understand what are the most elusive/important mats and will still play around with them.

well thats a big problem with most mmo's ... the people see the first part of the game and that is 1-10 and if people aren't interested in that they will leave the game. There could be a whole big difference 10+ but if people get bored in the first ten levels they will leave. This is just a fact. No way around it. I for one am like that ... I am not in the mood to waste 10-20 hours to finally get to the good part. This is the entertainment business and if I am not entertained from the start, I will leave.

I get the feeling that people are getting way to relaxed in this because it is "mmo".  Alot of people don't have the time to play 10-20 hours in a week.

ya i hated that system in some server in wow

    why?

player basicly killed ah by doing what hogg do in rom but on the economy instead

they killed the economy of server then bot everything for a song then sold those like 5million for a copper bar

    player just changed server lol

and like you say within a week those program will work in aion

it makes me cry just to think of it

Not programs, since addons are forbidden in Aion, but Aion's AH functions the same as WoW's one.

But then, they will simply use their mind. When you can check an Aion database on the internet, you can clearly see the most needed mats. From that point, it's basically done. You start playing with them.

And I doubt people will use the sitshop. People did that in L2 since it was the only way they could sell things.

you can turn that option off in the controls

I mean good attempt, just...no. This style of play just turns into every other style of korean gameplay. 1. Have better gear and have spells queued up in the right order. Roast someone. Rinse and repeat. Just the fact that the game doesn't have a free movement system for pvp really douches it up.
pretty much every mmorpg that has hotbars has this system.....free movement?  did you even play?

you know, after level 25 that the direction the devs want people to go in is pvp right?

People expect too much of MMOs these days, especially at launch, or in this case before launch.

You can't say that Aion doesn't follow the same system as WoW does(yeah, and it followed EQ2 which followed MUDs, but let's not get there, because there are 10+ years differences).

What game doesn't follow it? EVE and Ryzom.

    That, to make a difference.

you can turn them on/off from the option. i believe this has been said from the above 3  posts

My idiocy meter is raging right now... I must have posted about being able to turn off that option like in almost all these Aion flame threads... and in this one too i think in one of the earlier pages.

If you really don't know you can turn it off, like I said before you shouldn't be playing the game or criticizing it.
