I was searching for info on TERA and this thread came up in a search result. Ah well.. I'd have been bashed for starting a new thread, too, because "this has already been discussed in another thread before". You're either starting a redundant thread, or you're necroing a dead one... Its made from some of the people who made Lineage 2. I know thats probaly already a red flag to the masses but for me its enough to get very excited over!
I can't wait to play this game, however there are so many games to be launched soon. It will be hard for TERA to maintain its players if they fall back in gameplay.

Who cares, another most likely world of warcrap rip-off mmorpg. That will end up being a korean grinder at its core. Graphics don't make a game, gameplay does, and many mmorpgs released the last few years fail on that miserable, I predict this will have the usual auto-attack with skill use now and then system that most mmorpgs use.

Oh, I'm interested in checking it out. I rather enjoy L2's gameplay, and this game looks pretty darn nice.
You can *definitely* see the influence of L2 in there... Tell me you didn't think "Fettered Soul" at about 1:20 when they're showing the mobs in that trailer. And the game overall has a very similar look and style.
Incidentally... found a video showing character customization... Clicky!
Not an "OMG" amount of options... more than L2 at least :-p (not that L2 sets a particularly high bar :-p). The characters look great.. The game over all is beautifully detailed; I really like the art style. I also like the look of the environments, and the music is pretty nice.

Until this game is close (a couple months away) to being released in america however, Ill pay it no mind.
Looks good, but I don't really think this is going to work as advertised on this side of the pond unless the games *!heavily!* instanced. High bandwidth here in the west is pitiful in comparison to the average bandwidth in South Korea. So yeah, they can bring it over here but it'll be laggy as hell or patched down to a traditional tick based MMO during localization.

Not necessarily.
They're using the Unreal 3 engine which was developed from the ground up to support large seamless worlds; I'd guess at least in part due to how many MMOs were developed with the Unreal2 engine. They just have to layout the environments intelligently, using anti-portals, LoS and LoD to keep the environments streaming smoothly.
If NCSoft was able to reverse-engineer the Unreal 2 engine to support seamless outdoor environments and get it running as smoothly as it is (keeping in mind Unreal 2 tech was *never* intended for anything beyond isolated, relatively small maps), then I'm sure they could do quite well with an engine re-designed from the ground up to support such massive environments.
Time will tell, though.

Yeah, I've just recently "discovered" it (though I've seen screenshots from it that were previously desribed as Lineage 3 shots... which they obviously aren't (even given the history of TERA)). So, I'm still in my "gather all available info on it" mode. I'll slow down, too, once I've caught up and then follow it as I do other up-coming MMOs that I'm interested in.

A while back i said im tired of seeing games advertised with massive titties that didnt mean i want to see games advertised by chicks with small titties. Now who is going to step up and make the cover of a game with a huge muscle bound dude on the cover chopping someones head off wearing a speado with his balls hanging out of each side. Nah, I'm thinking that it should be some big, ripped, hairy guy with five O'clock shadow wearing nothing but a spiked dog collar and assless leather chaps.
Who knows, it could start a trend. We'd see videos of the Cheeta Girls throwing lunchmeat at naked dudes backstage before a concert, or even a hip hop video where Lil Kim slids a credit card down a male stripper's ass crack. Turn about is fair play.

Also, Blue Hole Studios has announced they "anticipate commercial launch in Korea is in early 2010, and in North America in Fall 2010."
