MMOs are designed to be played for years. MMOs don't have year or two dev cycles like console games.
It's almost like a new game comes out and in 1-2 months after people want something new lol.
Try to suppliment your gaming with different genres instead of waiting on MMOs the whole time.
It would drive me nuts waiting on a new game all the time with MMO dev cycles of 5+ years.
i don't understand people who can play the same games for years. how can you ignore all the new worlds to explore, to keep doing the same old repetitive crap over and over? how could ANY game be that good? i don't care how they're designed to be played, that just seems insane to me.
MMOs evolve overtime. So in reality you aren't really playing the same game if devs do their jobs.
As for new worlds to explore Most of todays MMOs stopped being worlds and tend to be more Linear maps with mini-games. This helps me stay in older games.
I played UO for four years, I believe thats the longest i've spent in one MMO. I don't consider a MMO good unless it could hold me for a year.
Haha in another thread you posted in today didnt you flame people who jumped games every few months LOL.. Maybe you should listen to you own advice on that thread.
There isn't one on the horizon. The next big things are Aion and SW:TOR... but you don't like Aion or Sci-Fi.
The Star Wars MMO is more of a single player game than anything, not worth really mentioning as an MMORPG.
Yes, a game will an open world, pvp, grouping, end game, classes, progression, socializing, crafting, multiple locations (in this case, planets) make this game a single player.
Flaming for the sake of flaming, eh?
But yeah, pretty much everyone I know thinks the game looks like it has more Single Player aspects to it than MMORPG aspects.... including myself. It doesn't help that the company that's releasing it, has created some pretty damn good SINGLE player games, but no MMORPGs. There is a such thing as MORPGs, you know. Look at GW.

Big games, fallen earth and darkfall? LOL
Idk about Darkfall, dead game is dying.... but FE may not be a "big game" when compared to giants, but I guarantee that in a year each one of the devs will be making more per month than you will cumulatively make in your entire life. While, it may not be a giant, it does fit the description of "big".
Funnily enough Blizzard released single player games before WoW, so whats your point?
Listen to what Bioware have been saying about SWTOR, the fact that it's going to have ALL the elements of modern day MMO's plus the "Story" aspect that is so sorely over looked and seen by the vocalfew as meaning "Single Player".
I'l wager that all those bemoaning SWTOR is supposedly going to be a single player game will undoutedly still go ahead and buy it but never admit to it on the forums.

Nope, It was after 30 days to two months not a "few".
Every Good MMO I played.
UO, EQ, AC, DAoC, AO, EvE, Ryzom = anywhere from 1-4 years each.
If I had to pick which MMO I've heard about that hasn't been released yet, that I hope could meet my expectations, it would have to be World of Darkness or APB.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
But, "because "I" think it will be an MMO, I'm just going by the information that has been released," .... you actually are going by your opinion, they SAY it's an MMO, but GW also SAYS it's an MMO and we all know that's not the case there.... it just has MMOish aspects in a MORPG like D2. We've seen and read the same stuff you have, unless you got some gay relationship going on with someone on the dev team. If that's the case, free beta key? Please? lol
I can't believe I have to squash this bad info again but here read the FAQ over on GW's web site. http://www.guildwars.com/products/guildwars/features/default.php They ask is GW a mmorpg, short answer "NO". People are still using that argument to make points and god forgive me it drives me nuts.
Any way, I'm hopeful for SW:TOR being huge. if not I just don't know. we are so flooded and see very little in way of innovation, well innovation that works IMO.
I was waiting for AION, but after playing in the betas, it just wasnt for me. Anyone know what the next big MMO is supose to be? I dont like sci-fi etc, I prefer more fantasy kinda like EQ/War/WoW/AoC etc. Thanks!

SWTOR......
Cartoons? Check.
Single player? Check.
Levels? Check.
Classes? Check.
... etc...
So... what we have here is a WOW-clone with "we haz story!" smacked onto its ass.
What can go wrong? Ill predict a huge sucess. Just like WOW today, every 9 year old in the free world will play it.
Oh please. Feeble troll, very weak.

I don't know about the next "big mmo" but I have a feeling that Mortal Online will be the "best mmo."

Who says there's going to be one. I have my doubts.

There's no way I could stomach playing another FF MMO after years on FFXI. The party waits got too long. I could not stomach leveling up again.
I can't be the only one who feels this way who played FFXI religiously.
There wont be one. Today's MMO gamers are a fickle bunch. We will continue to see small games targeted at niche group of players.
No more mass market once a couple more of the big boys fail to deliver WoW numbers (Bioware).

The next big MMO wont be an MMO.

Diablo 3.
