Lots of good stuff in the patch. New Monster Island content. Mission rewards had their level requirement removed. There were loads of power buffs. Some of my favorites are the teaming improvements...
# Added target-of-target indicator to UI.
# Added role indicator to team frames.
# When a Primary Mission is set, teammates who don't have the mission will see the objectives in their mission tracker and will see the waypoints for that mission.
# When a Primary Mission is set, all teammates will only see the waypoints of the furthest-behind team member for that mission.
# You can now see the mission progress of your teammates next to their portraits. If a primary mission is set, this shows the primary mission. Otherwise, it shows the last mission that made progress on.
Now we can see what role people use on a team. That should help team tactics a little. Now if only the "Help a Citizen" missions would share experience with the team...

Great another thing that ought to be in launch in the first place..makes in in..
or at least it will if the servers come out again..I only had the game a week but I rename it Champions Offline now..because despite holding out as I hate launch time crowd and constant patch days..every time they mess about with patches on this the ..2 hour downtime becomes 6 after the patch patch..and the post patch patch patch to fix the last post patch patch.
Why should it have been done before launch. It would have been nice I agree but WoW didn't have team quest tracking for years. Had to download a custom UI for it even then. That is called game polish and it comes over time. Cryptic is making great headway for the stage they are at. I am glad I bought a life time sub to the game.
Why do game companies keep launching half finished products....because we keep letting them....they want the cash coming in asap and then patch in things on a weekly basis and we ..thank them for it
current status on their website----------------

People are getting unrealistic, comparing content and game functions with MMO's that have been out for 2 to 4 years. Look threw WoW's path notes and see when they added team quest tracking. The Auction house was a joke. Quests lines that broke, not enough cookie crumb trails to know options where you could level. This game is NEW, depth will come. I have been MMOing for 10 years since EQ1 launch day and compared to most MMO launches CO has been awesome. Stable servers, fast response to players requests. Balancing powers that was out shining most others. Long list of content coming.
You my friend are unrealistic. This is not a 1/2 done game, its called a good start with never ending updates in sight and devs that are taking notes and making active changes. Thats better then Blizzard and SoE has ever done IMO not to mention a long line of other designers that NEVER listen.
I don't know... Why has your average single player game gone from about 40 hours of content down to about 10 hours of content? The real irony of it all is that despite a MMORPG having hundreds of hours of content and having the same price as a single player game, that people will still complain about it not having enough content. People's expectations are REALLY whacked when it comes to games these days.

I think people expect that a game work properly and provide at least a 1-2 months of entertainment before running out of content. Keep in mind that not only do you pay for the game but you pay a subscription. Based on the subscription you would expect that the game add content continuously over time.
What we are getting is games that are really becoming poorer and poorer in terms of quality. the worst part of this game is that you run into major holes in content playing through the game. So really the game is incomplete from day one. Add to that things like the powers and a lot of other things having radical game playing changes on a weekly basis and you can't help but conclude that the game wasn't finished when it launched.
This is my main gripe with the game. I got 100 hours of game play out of it. That includes several alts a lot of playing on the test server and doing a lot of exploration trying to find every possible quest and explore every inch of the game. I'm a very slow leveler for my played time. Someone focused on leveling would likely not even get 40 hours before hitting major issues.
So for 100 hours I paid like $50 bucks. Other then the frustration and irritation at bugs and disappointment in powers and content I still feel I got my money's worth. I just wouldn't feel it is worth paying more then $50 bucks for and I don't see anything substantial enough to make me want to continue to pay $15 per month.
Maybe in 3-4 months it will be worth resubing and sending in another $15 bucks and maybe at that time it will be worth paying monthly or even if not the changes I'm sure will give me $15 of value.

You got a 100 hours of play time out of CO..not counting the new content from today's patch or the new content in a few weeks / days when Blood Moon goes live..interesting..you know for your 50 dollars you got about 50% more play time out of the game then any single player game that isn't an FPS / RTS game.
None MMOS come out with less content and buggy and people dont' bitch near as much as they do over MMOS which atleast give patches and free additions something Most Single player non FPS / RTS games don't do. Want that awsome content pack for Fallout 3? You gotta pay ..its what a single level and 10 hours of addition play time..sounds hardly worth it to me (though I still got them).
How about Neverwinter Nights 1? All of its official content additions you had to pay for. The only free ones were user made. The core game's storyline itsself was a mere what 20 - 25 hours a HUGE cut down in play time from say Baldur's Gate or first 7 Final Fantasy Games
MMOs will always take the biggest heat for being unfinished because MOST players have no idea what they're talkinga bout when they say a game is unfinished. By MOST complainers examples Every game ever released since the age of internet and downloads..and even before are unfinished. There is no such thing as 100 percent finished, complete, bug free anything when it comes to software.
Compared to most..CO launched at a fairly finished, fairly stable state. I've recieved far less down time and content bugs with this game then I have with any game since UO's launch. Of course I'm comparing this to other games including WoW ONLY at its Launch time. Its retarded to compare CO's state now to say Wow's state right at this moment etc its also ridiculous to compare it to AION since Aion has techincally been live for 2 years.
It seems that way. Imagine if they expected the same thing from a single player game. Not sure about the 'work properly' part especially if you consider how tolerant people are being of the 2+ hour Aion queues. At least we could PLAY CO when it was released even if it was a little rough around the edges!
I've probably gotten about 100 hours out of CO so far. I must not have experienced half the frustration and problems as you did ethion. In fact, other than a couple broken missions I don't think I've had a single issue yet. Of course I have been holding off on 30+ content because of the well known mission gaps, but those should be fixed as of today.
Without accounting for the Blood Moon expansion that we don't know much about yet, I probably have about another 100 hours worth of entertainment left in CO. I also think it will have more entertainment value as time goes on. Its a game that I will revisit fairly often just like I did with CoX.
Well said!
I'm not dissatisfied with my $50 investment. However don't use my time as a measure for typical people. I'm a slow leveler but I do love MMOs. I don't usually stick with single player games as long not because I finish them but because friends drag me back into MMOs and then I've kinda lost my thread in a single player game. That said I'm slow so it takes me a lot longer to exhaust content then many people. Fallout for example I played 44 hours and had quite a bit less then half of the game done.
But that aside, what I said still stands. YES there is such a thing as a finished reasonably bug free game. And no it isn't rediculous to demand that companies not continously degrade there quality to get a game out the door. Mark my words people are getting tired of this. A game that comes out with poor quality takes a major hit for it.
I'm bitching that CO should have been better. That it wasn't complete enough or polished enough.
You talk about Aion and I'm not a fan of Aion but I did play the game in beta and the game was very bug free. I didn't like the style of game but the quality of Aion is very high. While nobody likes queues they are the only way to handle shortfalls on capacity because a game is more successful then planned.
In any event, you can enjoy your paid beta game play. People that are willing to tolerate this are a great thing as you can help supplement the development till the game is really finished and good quality. I just hope there are enough of you to keep the game going and fund the development. I fully intend to check back up on this game in a few months when hopefully it is "finished" and out of beta. :P

Even with some downtime, you have more chance to play the game than, let say Aion with all the queues.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
i agreed with what you said, but you might want to explain this last part, as Aion as been out since last November in Korea, so less than a year.

When it comes down to the honesty of it. Try and find a MMO launch that is seamless.
ethion your so full of BS its hilarious. Paid beta state? Hardly. I've been in Beta's for games and this is not a beta state. As for AION sorry I misquoted the time it released in Korea in November 2008 its had a YEAR to be as good as you got to experience ethion so you can't compare apples and oranges. Im' more than sure Aion was in a similiar or worse state then CO on its ORIGINAL launch date.
The game was finished when it came state side for beta testing testers were merely testing the translation process. I dont think you'd know what a beta state was ethion if it smacked you on the head.

Well like you I been playing since EQ launch blah di blah...the thing is back then it was far more excusable..because they were trailblazing games with new concepts new ideas and pioneers of what we have today....today they cant even launch a completed and stable client that is a generic copy of most of what has happened before...if you dont learn from past mistakes as they say...
but then why will they if people keep coddling them as if these companies are personal friends....an example recently funcom..has revenue and losses in the region of 300 million us dollars a year.....that is no 5 guys in a basement knocking out a Mud anymore...thats a huge business operation so yeah damm right if people expect more now than they did when verant got going.
They forgot to include a reason TO team in this patch. There is no reason to do anything group related, at all. With the right build you can solo 99% of the content. There are group dungeons but those are all quest based. After you complete the quest there's no reason to do them again. The drops are crap and the xp is terrible.
You see, your problem is like you said, you NEED a reason to team. Why don't you just team for the fun of it, don't wait for the dev to tell you when you have to team (what are you, 6 years old? No) so you can make your own choice.
Me and my friends always play together, we do and redo missions over and over again, just for the fun of playing together. Get to an area and kill everything, so player who needs missions item can click on them without any problem, in between we clear public mission, we explore the world looking for perks and hidden missions, you wouldn't believe how they are..
The problem with people in today's MMO, is they need a reason to do something, loot, XP.........

Because I am not easily amused. I can't just do something boring and passive like exploring the same desert that I've been playing in for the entire week just to uncover some completely useless perk. If you want to team with your friends and just hang out, thats all well and good. But not everyone play with a friend, some, if not most peeps like myself play in PUGs for group quests. When you're playing with random people it's important to have a common goal and interest, which doesn't work when one person can melt faces just fine by their lonesome.
Its basic human nature. Unless there's a reward there's no reason to put in the effort and unless there's a common interest there's no reason to cooperate. So please spare me the completely moronic 6 years old comment while you're pondering absurd crap like why must there be a XP and loot as a reason to do something in a freaking MMO.

Sounds more like you're completely selfish and unwilling to do anything unless there is something in it for you. Its really no wonder that you never group. I'd be surprised if you have any friends in the game at all with that kind of attitude.
I group and help friends all the time. I do it because they are my friends not because I expect the rewards to be equivalent to solo mission grinding. I got nearly a full level of exp just last weekend just by helping my friends. It was fun and my friend liked having the help. I got exp, cash, and loads of loot drops to help with crafting. Not sure what more you're expecting Kexo.
My wife even came along so we had MOB's running for help. It was really different than solo play and very exciting.

You my friend are in the wrong type of game, It seem like you don't like MMO (or even video game), if you are bored by exploring the world, you should play solo game. They hand everything to you, you don't have to think, no effort to put in and no need to cooperate. MMO is a world in itself that you have to explore and find new stuff (like perks, again, you say they have to be useful for you if you want to get them), it's not just about fighting and looting or getting to the cap lvl, it's a combination of everything, fighting, exploring, economy, community, crafting.........
About playing with friend, I don't only play with friend (have only one who followed me from other game), but I join a supergroup and together we play together when we are around the same missions lvl and like that I meet new people to group with. I join the LFG channel also which helps to form group.
You are probably from the WoW generation to think that way, because if you were from UO, EQ or even SWG, you would know what I am talking about. You don't wait for the game to show you the way, you find it.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
People yell there is no team content but you can share missions and do them together and they made it easier to do so and people yell about that. Teaming is not for the sake of "getting things done" its because you like to team and chat and goof off. Your right the drops are not "awesome" thats what perk points and PvP and Unity quests are for. Drops are off common NPC's is for crafting and cash. Or for slots you have not got an upgrade for in many levels.
CO is rocking for the stage of the game. There is content to mess with, there is reason to team and stuff to do, there is lots of ways to upgrade your gear and content in the works. Save up your perk points and Unity points for when new stuff comes out (and thats soon) and you can get the jump on good gear. Make an alt because in this type of game its easy to swap chars for Supergroup events, tank, healer, DPSer.
You bought the game because you liked the concept, that has not changed but get ready because everything you want to keep busy is coming. If you don't know that, then you have not been reading the list of updates that are coming. New areas, new PvP instances, new powers, new missions, and they are all FREE. They have 2 new mini expansions in the works right now that we know of. STOP JUDGING THIS GAME LIKES ITS 2 TO 4 YEARS OLD.
I agree that people are judging the game too harshly. New games cannot compare to 5-year-old MMOs. However, an MMO without a lot of group content at launch? What were they thinking? Why no end content at launch?
I loved playing this game, but I decided not to continue because whenever I did group, it was like our characters were together, but still playing our own game. You never really had to help each other out, or have any strategy. Especially with no death penalty, you can be careless.
If they make group content, I will return. And by group content, I mean things designed for groups with more than 3 rooms (I know Dr. Destroyer's factory has more than 3 rooms, but this was still too short IMO. It was like a regular CoX mission but with a better boss).
Well...It does have group conent in the form of 2 man missions, five man missions, the Stronghold and lairs as well as the later two Crisis zones which really need to be teamed up on to enjoy. Played the Monster Island Crisis with a group of four and it was an absolute blast. One of the most fun team experiences I have had. There are also the Public Missions which are essentially OPEN GROUP missions any one can jump into.
They have added some solid features to support grouping, which should help people to actually group for these now.
YES- they need more content but this is a good game and I am looking forward to the Blood Moon event.

Exactly!
Man I love the people that will come in and say "But I team with my friends to just fly around and look at the environment" and other useless crap like that. NORMAL people need some type of reason to go group together and in this game you are not given that.
I used to think that being able to create the jack of all trades character would be great for a MMO, now I see that all it does is force everyone to play by themselfs since there is really no reason to group. This game is just not Pug friendly, and for a MMO to me thats the kiss of death.
------------------------------
You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith
NORMAL people don't like Pug, that's why they join a guild and start playing together to see who work well with who. How many times and in how many games I heard people complaining about Pug and player that know nothing about their toon or game.
The problem is there will always people like you to complain about something, can't solo in the game, not enough group content, most of the MMO I played in the past 5 years are all very solo friendly, you can get to lvl cap soloing the whole game and you need to team up from time to time.
Get over yourself and your greedy ass and start having fun while you play instead of focusing on your xp bar or your stupid gear! You sound exactly like my dog: "If you want me to do a trick, you'll have to thrown me a cookie".
