Yep this is it ladies and gentlemen! Hype this game up! Show the MMORPG.com community how it's done! Haters are welcome too. Call it Cryptic PR fluff, Fanboys or whatever sooths your soul. Lets stand by a game we know will offer a Trek experience that has simply never been done before.
I gave it a 10, of course. I'm in full support of this game and all the fans following it. I want to make this forum as good of a place I can, with positve comments and constructive criticism. Things have been really ramping up in the STO world, and i'm super exited to be apart of it, and you should all be as well.
Live long and PROSPAH!

Sweet, thanks. I know this whole thing has attracted some negative attention. It'll take some time to work over that.
I can respect that, and welcome to the fold.

Nice to have you aboard! This forum has been a lonely place for people with a positive attitude toward STO for far to long.

ya i've seen alot of of the threads on this forum filled with missinformation and doom and gloom. If a person decides they don't like the game after they've looked at all the information then all the power too them, but spreading around missinformation just because this isn't how you wanted it isn't the way to go.
I don't mind dropping in to disprove people spreading missinformation. Also if there is some juicy info i can post it here too for you guys that are actually interested in the game that Cryptic is making.
Hmm...
I really want to have high hopes for this game, and I hope it does great. The universe and graphics look very good. I've been a Trekker since ST:TNG (I was not alive for TOS, but I've watched nearly every episode and read literally hundreds of books). But, when I saw that ships are one-man shops like EVE, with NPC crews... and every character is an officer - and a Captain no less, I was swayed away from the game.
I couldn't get into Eve online. I'm glad STO will be full of away missions and planets, but I don't really have much desire to captain or fly a ship myself. Perhaps I'll join later if they add the ability to do something else in a later expansion. There were a lot of Star Trek crew roles that held more interest for me in the series.
But, I can understand why they made the decision to design the game like that. Just don't think it will be the Star Trek game for me.
Well i'm here to do my duty for the Fans of STO.
I'm looking forward to a long and fun filled stay at MMORPG, hopefully through out the last phases of development and even after release.
I've said it countless times before. I am really looking forward to STO. I could say i've been waiting for this game my entire life, and it would in part be true.
I can't wait for STO to go retail. I'll be there, at the front of the line. Grinning like a fool.
Welcome to the forums!
Glad to see your interested in actually participation with the community here, it's what is definitly needed. Can't wait to get more info! Again welcome!
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
Tisiphone, that is a very fair attitude. All we ask is if you don't like the game, don't try to scare off potential customers. Thats... pretty much it.
I can understand your desires though Tisiphone. There are some interesting positions, and we get fairly close to playing those positions with the Bridge Officers. Probably not close enough for you, but thats okay.
Well I hope you'll give it a chance. I wish more people would maintain the "it's just not for me" attitude instead of the "OMG this game is going to bomb" attitude That's refreshing

Yeah, lol, just reading through these forums a bit, that was a very unique post. People need to understand that there are lots of people in this world, with lots of different opinions, only a small % of those people need to like something to make it successful.
Heck, I'd argue that ST has a lot of elements of showing how not to freak out about different opinions. That's part of the reason I found it so odd to see all of them here on these forums. I suppose it had something to do with them feeling like Cryptic ripped the player crew idea out from under them (even though PE already said they scrapped the idea too...).
But yeah, expectations need to be tempered a bit. Just because this may not be the ST game for you, doesn't mean it may not be the game for you. STO game appeals to me as a gamer moreso than it does to me as a ST fan.
I'm certainly looking forward to a Star Trek game that encompasses both space-based exploration/combat as well as ground-based. Here's hoping all the hype is worth it!
Hey there HittingSmoke, nice to see you here.
Yes, I see far too many ST canon elitists bad-mouth STO because of this or that small detail. The reviews don't give STO the justice it deserves for being fun and sticking to canon compared to other MMOs. I see SWTOR breaking more Star Wars canon than STO bends Star Trek canon.
I am certainly looking forward to the grand adventure known as Star Trek Online. I am an old school Trekker/Trekkie going back to the days of TOS and I am waiting eagerly to explore this vast and amazing universe.
I can't wait for this game to be released. It's going to be fun!

Right on! As fans, we have to support our game to ensure its success instead of just criticizing it.
not to sound too pessimistic but is there sort of viral marketing campaign going on? :P
Looking quite forward to ST:O myself.
Skill Based, Sandbox ( to a certain extent), No Star Fleet Admirals with an exclaimation point over their heads, PVP areas, Developers actualy reading the forums and posting, Cryptic's former development methods NOT including massive game revamps, etc. etc. Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this game.
There likely won't be a Trek MMO for us, as long as this one is running. That's my big objection to the game. Take away the skimpy Trek IP connections, and I'd be fine with this game being released.
This game will be so much less than a Trek MMORPG could be.

Not to sound too provocative, but you seem to be already part of another viral marketing campaign.
the devs are quite happy about the hype!
STO is getting a 10 once my user rank goes up...
Yes I'm pretty excited for this one too, having said that I don't really have the mind set that I'm waiting for something to blow me away as lot's of mmo players and detractors of this game have but I think it will be a fun experience and as you put it a Star Trek experience like we have not had before in any of the other games from the franchise which has had only a sad few worthy video games.
I think in all the game will have a few new elements that we have not seen in mmo's to date such as the planet generator. I don't expect that these features will blow us away but I think things like this are in fact a start if done well. The wheel is never going to be re invented which is what it seems mmo players sometimes expect but it is not going to happen and if and when it does there is no guarantee that the change will be good. The future is going to be built on the past and that is what I look forward to this game the most for, it will still be familiar enough to us but hopefully different enough to push the entire genre forward.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

which one...EVE or TOR? :P
