Seriously guys, this thread is heading down the bowl so fast. So what if Blizzard said they would like a hero class per expac? Can anyone link an official Blizzard statement that says that there will definitely be a hero-class per expac, I seem to remember them stating that its something they would like to accompany each expac, but did they ever state there will be one without fail?
Goalposts change, children, goalposts change, and if you can't grasp that then there is a whole load of growing up to be done.

Exactly, but alot of peoples hatred here is so great they cant see anything, and they keep saying they want a class, but keep failing to say which new class, because its aobvious there are thousands in the fantasy genre of classes to chose from.
Demz2 lost all crediability with me after he said DK wasn't overpowered.
Dk OP how so, so i can death grip u, and what else? warriors have hamstring so are they overpowered, warlocks have fear are they OP, classes can heal are they OP. etc etc you keep taking about OP, what makes dk so op, all classes can be OP against any class jesus.
So, how many of the people that are DEMANDING Blizzard keep to 1 hero class per expansion actually play WoW still? Actually, lets just go with: how many in this thread are currently subscribed to WoW? Im seeing a lot of well known WoW haters but very few current WoW players.

Take this for what you will... but even IF Blizzard had made promises and broken them they do what is necessary to ensure the survival of their franchise. From a business standpoint... Had it not seemed plausible to release a new class as often as was said, I'm happy that the idea of a class per expansion if it was infact there was scrapped when they found out it was a sucky one...
That would mean that there are infact people testing the stuff out before it is released to the general public.
Personally, my opinion is the idea of a class per expansion never made it past testing stages, why add more classes when you can expand on the current ones.
so before you bitch about the decisions either way, keep in mind what Blizzard has at stake when you consider introducing a class EVERY expansion
So what if blizzard said they were going to add 1 hero class per expansion? So what if they said new dances and emotes were coming but were never actually implemented. So what if they said they'd add more FUN... This isn't FUN this is WOW it's seriouz biznezz. Now excuse me while I go back to stroking Blizzards giant blue wang and pretend that the new re-skinning of Cataclysm is epic.
don't buy a game you don't like..... I completely agree

Its a good point that there seem to be more haters posting in this thread than players ... but what is really sad is the hater mentality. If you hate the game, why post at all? ... it reminds of those unpleasant children you see that wreck another child's toy, balloon or whatever, not because they don't have one and want one, but that they get pleasure from ruining someone else's fun full stop.
Like I said earlier, goalposts change and if you can't grasp that well thats just a little sad.
By the way, I don't play WoW, I used to, but not anymore, nor would I play it again.
its yer classic circle jerk :-) Bottom line, no-one is forcing you to buy. If you don't like the expansion then change brands. I'm sure theres another MMO out there that is releasing a class with every expansion..... isn't there?

Actually, a litte more than 5 years ago (before WOW launched) a group of fans had a 12 page discussion about what hero classes might be like. (mostly based on how they were presented in Warcraft 3 I tihnk)
While it doesn't appear Blizzard ever really promised specific hero classes, or how they would be presented, most people believed Blizzard said they would be put in the game.
I think the original idea might have been more along the lines of a 2nd tier of skills for each class, and that idea probably got scrapped as the game evolved and took a different path as Zorndorf posted prevoiusly.
I don't think going into the launch of the game balancing the PVP was high on the list of priorities, hence they didn't give each side the same exact classes. Over time it became apparent the players preferred (and I'm sure it was easier to balance raids) a level playing field on both sides, and hero classes make the job that much more difficult.
I remember DAOC was famous for adding new classes with every expansion, and every time they would be overpowered for the 1st 6 months until they got around to nerfing them enough to balance them out a bit.
I can understand why Blizzard would want to avoid the same situation.

Actually your logic is faulty. Even the post and link states "Current Thinking is we'd like to release a new hero class per expansion" Current thinking is I'd like a three way with Beyonce and Rachel Stevens each day. Doesn't mean I'm having it...Man that would be sweet though. But anyway, to make the leap from "we'd like to" to "we're going to" is something most people with any sense don't do. That's why you don't see people up in arms about no new hero class in the Cat exp.
New Emotes are coming in next patch. If you consider that with the expansion there will be new emotes and dances for the new races then you have that as well. Not really trying to Defend them, but if you are going to have such a bold statement for your title, at least make sure you are working on the correct premise.
The first answer to your post was, essentially, correct.
You know, you people who don't play WoW, shouldn't just jump in and start spamming random stuff about Blizzard.
Like Kyleran said, they might as well not add a new hero class because it may destroy the first 1-2 seasons of Cataclysm arena just like they did in WOTLK. And with Ghostcrawler around, that's a fact.
@ Daffi. There it is, google is your friend. So now you can explain how your boys at Blizz were misquoted or some such horseshit.
Dear Grandpa, please try again. Did you even read the quote before you starting blathering on?
Here is the quote you so gleefully let someone else dig up for you.
Re: 1 hero class every expansion?
Q u o t e:
Or will there be new hero classes released with WotLK patches?
Current thinking is we would like to release one with each new expansion. We want to really focus on balancing the Death Knight into the game with all the other classes and new abilities that go along with that.
Sorry folks, that is not a promise nor a guarantee. That is expressing a desire with a gigantic unspoken BUT on the end of it. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that comment.
You guys are displaying the exact mentality that causes developers to walk on pins and needles in the forums. They can't even make a rather clear statement without people like you twisting it into something it isn't to suit your agenda. So once again, you are wrong.
Please don't tell me to use google and do your homework for you. You are the one making claims here and unless you have something to back them up, it is nothing more than the empty tripe you love to spill around here. You made the claim, now back it up with some proof or be quiet already. Both of which I know you are incapable of, so I'm not holding my breath.
I dont care what Blizz does. I quit this faceroller months ago. Thing is I was playing the game when Blizz introduced the DK and remember them saying there would be a new xpac and new hero class every year. OP asked what happened to that and the WOW fanboys came out and called him a liar. Guess maybe he isnt the liar after all.
You know what is funny Grandpa, you are the only person to use the word liar, lied or lie in the first 50 posts of this thread where you claimed "Blizzard lied about the hero class just like they lied about housing". Read it right here
So you can thank yourself for twisting the discussion into something it wasn't just to give yourself another hollow reason to nerd rage. Now you can throw on displacing your own faults on those you disparage. So far you are batting 1000.
No one said the OP was a liar, but you had zero problem turning his question into another crusade against blizzard for something they never said. Yes when you imply blizzard LIED you imply they made a promise. Not to mention why anyone would BITCH as the OP suggests when nothing was promised doesn't make much sense.
So once again you are just filled to the rim with fail.
I was hoping to find the link to the blizzcon question session and answer the original question about what happened to 1 hero class per expansion.
Blizzard has said several times now how much impact a new class had on the game and they have reevaluated their thinking about 1 class per expansion. If I recall right, they are aiming at 1 hero class every other expansion with new races and/or race/class combos in expansions without new classes.
It would be nice if Blizzard added a couple of new classes. The new races are an okay touch. Given the lore of the realm if they decided to add Goblins they should have made it so the player is neutral until they pick a side. After being consistently neutral, a faction of them joins the horde for some reason. Also, werewolf people for the Alliance doesn't seem to fit. I am inclined to believe people would have preferred Pandarians.
In any case new classes would make the game fun and exciting. People playing for years that have multiple toons at level cap would have something new to try out and level. The DK class sort of seems lonely as the only hero class in the game.
New classes and new gameplay might rejuvenate the game enough to get the old subs back, but so far the promise of that doesn't seem to be there. Especially since the nicest instances with some of the best details are still the old instances from the original game. Every expansion has created shorter instances that follow a "get your shit and get out" mentality. BC had Karazhan, which was a fun instance, but everything else new was sort of bland in comparison to the original game. I am sure much of the customer base might like this, but I do not care for it much.
This is a great game, but I feel that there should be more classes and races by now. Those classes and races should also make sense. The looming one hero class makes it seem like an abandoned afterthought, and even with new races it will be the same old gameplay with a new skin. I think Blizzard is milking a cash cow until they are able to release their next MMO.

I think it's pretty fair to say that Blizzard failed at introducing a balanced hero class into the game. The complaining has gone down quite a bit, but for a long time you'd read countless threads on the official forums about DKs ruining the game. Really at the launch of Wrath, the game was dominated by Retardin and DKs, and it amazes me because any other game with such crappy class balance would collapse in on itself.
I have to give some credit to the long time WoW players I know because they can be really patient about waiting for changes to come down the pipes. I lost my faith while playing a shaman.. 10 months of Wrath was long enough.
Anyway.. Blizzard seems to focus on the things it can do well; introducing new classes has turned out not to one of them, and I honestly wouldn't expect another. They must suck at making new dances also....
It's still another year until the next expansion, if they bring out another hero class their not going too reveal it until the last moment, so get over yourself.
