Did the goons go here too?

AranStormahAranStormah Member Posts: 278

It looks cool, but in my experience the goons show up in every game with even a hint of PvP. Wondering if they moved the goonswarm here too. Nothing is worse for an organized group than a blob of zerglings showing up and just beating your through sheer numbers.

Also, is the PvP FFA or is it factionbased?

At lower levels  the pvp areas are FFA. After you have picked a faction its more daoc rvr style.

Yes the goons are in FE from what I hear, but all the big pvp guilds seem to be in FE (shrug), they haven't been a nuisance.

check it out. They called themselves GOONs. They can be rather annoying at times. Some of them are ok though.

Goons I've encountered in FE were really helpful. One even helped me kill a boss.

Go Goons! Hope to be on your side of the conflict in S2 / S3

I could have sworn I saw 2-3 people last night with a Goonswarm tag. It may have been Goon squad, though.

Ok, as long as they aren't making trouble. They raised all kinds of hell in EVE.

And yeah, Goon Squad is 90% likely to be them. The name is always Goon something-or-another.

Yes Goonswarm is in FE.  I hate to promote them but here is there recruitment thread in case you are interested.  http://forums.fallenearth.com/fallenearth/showthread.php?t=22632

I'm not high enough level to really care about PvP but once I get there I'm sure the Goons will be up to their old tricks.

It seems like a lot of people in the MMO scene have formed a negative opinion of "goons" through their experiences with them in EVE, which from what I hear are mostly justified.  The thing to understand, though, is that goons just kind of flock together in any game, so the players of one game are not really representative of the players of any other one.  One of the interesting things we saw in the first few days of the preorder early start was a bunch of haters on the official FE forums making reference to how badly we got owned in darkfall.  I can tell you, none of the goons in the FE goon squad played EVE or Darkfall, so it was a bunch of some other guys that raised all your ire.

The Goons in FE want nothing more than to be your friends.  Goon squad is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In Goon Squad you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the Goon Squad motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.

The Goons are a non factor in any game they ever play in so there is no really issue if they join FE or not

so play and Dont worry about Goons if you see one just stand up to them  they will back down

like they do in any game they play

Well tbh the gm's in the game normally stop any of the trash talk you see in other game's...yes the gm's in FE actually take part in the community (aint that nice).

I have played for 2 weeks and have only seen 2 player's being a bit stupid in chat on more than 1 occasion,I have 1 on ignore(the only player on ignore) the other seems to change his mood and can sometime's be quite funny.

All in all the gm's handle it very well and stop the drama before it even get's going,I actually find myself follow chat as 99% of the time as it  is very useful, thus so is is the community that type's it.

The whole goon hate / bash thing is getting kinda pathetic.

Same in EVE. People get all tight arsed and wound up as soon as they see the letter 'g' followed by a double 'o' and an 'n'. Consider this: while you are so happy bashing or whining about them on some forum you are doing valuable work in making their fame / infamy even bigger than it already was. They are at the stage that they don't have to do anything for that. Just hang around in a new game and watch their rep being heralded from the towers by 'those who who have dealt with them before'.

What are you thinking? That they are some kind of different species? An alien race people should be warned about? They are just a bunch of laid back guys trying to have some fun and they don't have to do all that much mischief to have all the stuck up folks owning themselves by being, well ... stuck up about a little ingame misfortune.

    *coughs*

I have a little weak spot for them I suppose :) I admired the role they played in EVE. Being the game-wide scapegoat and just shrugging it off and doing their thing.

I recall this one (at the time that Goons were well known for scamming the small time crooks who were dying to join them) it went a little like this:

Aspiring member: "One of your members, *insert name here* has taken all my ships and ISK. He promised me to ship my stuff to 0.0 and I payed him the admission fee of 500 mils to be returned to me when all was in order. I didn't receive anything back. I really want my stuff back and join you guys."

Goons CEO: "Hmm, so *insert name here* took all your ships?"

    Aspiring member: "That is correct"

Goons CEO:  "And he took your isk as well?"

Aspiring member: "Yes, well, most of it."

Goons CEO: "Well, we really don't have much use here for people without ships and ISK"

I just had to lol about that one ... >_<

I've never had any trouble with them. They seem to be decent enough bunch (by decent I mean they didnt try to blow my head off while I drove by in a pvp area, but that IS decent in FE :D )

Anyway everybody gets a fresh start in FE, whatever they did in EVE is EVE's problem.

goons are idiots as you can see from facejobs posts. To look up to them for griefing is a good show of character i guess, and i rarely see their "rep" being "heralded". Its usually the opposite ... its usually stuff like whats in this thread. A bad rep is not a good rep. And yeah they are trying to have fun, but usually that comes at other people's expense, hard to believe you cant see that. The only good griefer(goon) is a dead griefer(goon).

TBH if you like em so much why not join them? It's only what, another 10$ just to be in the guild right?

Okay whoever said the goonswarm in FE was a nonissue LIED

I made a ranged rifle crafter named Aran Stormah (how does the space work for tells btw?). When I stepped out of the bunker the first thing the FIRST person I saw was a goon, a naked one with clown facepaint. Was it a coincidence? No!! He followed me around the newbie zone oneshotting my mobs. I tried telling him to piss off but he wouldn't listen.

Seriously, this is EVE all over again. I had to quit there because they took my Chimera and then all my ISK when I tried to get it back. I don't think I can stand to go through it all again.
