Snowboarding in a mmorpg?

Would you like to see snowboarding in a mmorpg? What gameplay elements could you see being implemented due to this feature?

Boo, my reply got lost. I think I'm forgetting to hit post message or something.
Anyway, I only saw the guy slide around on it, so not sure if the engine has allowances for acting like Legolas yet...would be neat though.
Also, things like pushing a wheeled cart down a hill, jumping on, and riding down.

snowboarding is... well, imho it doesn't really belong in a medievel setting. It's ok to have the possibility of using your shield as a snowboard yes.. but not to make too much fuss about it. Then the game starts to evolve around less important parts of the game, instead of the main storyline..
That's my oppinion
One word:
Fantasy.
Look that word up.
I am for everything.
But dont turn the MMORPH into a circus! So public zones that are not meant for that should not allow to many weird features, only instanced and circus zones should allow them all.

Err... well there are no such thing as zones in DnL...
At this point the Devs created snowboarding to allow players a unique form of transport in mountianous regions covered in snow... DnL is so huge that scores of differant forms of transport have been created. A dozen mountains in DnL could equal the whole area of UO... its that big... so it does have its practical side.
I also like Orcc's suggestion of slide by shooting
fantasy, medievel, neanderthal... Point is.. Eventhough the vastness of the mountains is that great, it's something that would be more fitting in a modern, futuristic game setting... But who knows, I may be very very wrong, so don't take me too seriously.. like I said, it's only my oppinion

Maybe I got a little too carried away with my own ideas of what a mmorpg should be like.. Fantasy is about presenting something that is created through imagination of what could('ve) be(en).. From that point of view.. Then using shields as a means of transportation through mountainous territories isn't such a bad idea >.> ... But it still depends on the setting, and if it's out of context with the rest of the games features..

hmm..guild fly by archery...very useful PVP element
. Would be a fun idea though, and since the game world is so huge its not like there will only be one area to do it in, much less everyone in the same one hehe

It seems like people are trying too hard to make fantasy realistic...that isn't the point! The whole point, to me, is to be able to do things in a game that you couldn't do in real life.
Besides that...have you never seen a snow saucer or toboggan? Thats essentially the same thing as a shield.
Another movie showing snowboarding and other forms of transport... old movie btw but still many may have not seen it...

Reality vs fun... I will take fun any day of the week and that that looks like fun.
I miss DAoC
Just wait until you leap off a mountain using a glider. I thought it had no place in the game, but those feelings disappeared when I got to do it. I stayed up for nearly 30 minutes!

2 questions.
Do you have to have a shield? So like non-shield users have to walk?
And also is it only on snow mountains? No mud boarding?

I was hoping for prime shielding spots. Maybe a nice mountain bowl, and half pipe somewhere. Some hotdog jumps. Ha, Roleplay a ski resort manager!! (Hmm...seen those old school ski lifts? The ones where you grab a handle and ski behind it - getting towed instead of sitting in a chair? Well, hook a rope to an oxen-driven turnstile, and there's a tow rope / lift. Get some orcs to cut down some trees for ski runs, charge a couple silver per day. Maybe I've got a profession in D&L after all! Staxic D&L Alpine Challenge - please check your weapons at the gate)

Looks kind of weird. Sure as hell would beat WALKING in that huge mass of snow though. And what, no 360's?! lol
Plus, shouldn't the snow trail behind the guy be more...below the other level of the snow around him?
