I have a cheapo computer that I bought 1.5 years ago, prolly cost me $600 total to build it, and it runs WoW on high settings with no lag, even in IF.

Instead of crying here, I would spend my time diagnosing the problem so that you can actually play. The game has a tech suipport forum. Use it.

have you deleted the .wdb files in the WoW directory?

These are cache files and have a severe tendency to corrupt your gameplay.

Its something blizzard needs to fix, but hasn't yet.

Hell they just need to get the servers up and stable now :/

Fizzle I have to say man, your post kinda pisses me off.  Have you ever been over to the Blizzard support forums? Have you ever tried to send in a request for help, an email, or posted on those forums.  The replies i have gotten over there are  1. OMG YOUR COMP SUXXORS BLIZZARD ROXXORS YOU %$(%$) STOP CRYING   2. On the forums to these problems its either "update your drivers, uninstall and reinstall, reformat your hard drive, throw your computer out of a plane, then throw yourself out of the plane" or "we are working on the problem, please be patient".

Also, how would you propose i diagnose the problem?  I sure as hell dont know how to read any of the code for games, so that rules out looking for crap files.  I sure as hell dont know anything about how these types of games run, other than the system specs and what not.
I also did diagnose the problem.  Blizzard f'ed up.  It was only that one character that i couldnt play.  Dont think its my hardware when my computer is magically compatible with every character except one.  Doesnt work that way.

To what computer specs you have, how much it costs, and how little lag you get... what point where you proving in posting that?  If you read the forums over at the WoW site, you would see that it doesnt matter the specs.  Everybody from a random range of specs has problems.  People from Geforce 2's, all the way to Nvidia 6800 GT's 256 mb, 256 RAM to 1.5 gb RAM, and every imaginable processor.  It has nothing to do with system specs, what hardware you have, or anything else.  It is simply Blizzard trying to take the blame from themselves when they say it has to do with your system specs, when frankly it does not.

As to me "crying" here, is any post that bad mouths blizzard "crying" to you?  Is any post that is saying something bad, but true, about this God of Gods MMORPG "crying" to you?  Going to the Blizzard forums and trying to post is almost enough to make me cry.  Its sad the lack of customer support they give to paying customers.  In reality, I was not "crying" as you said.  I posted a constructive post stating my problem, how i was pissed off and frustrated, and everybody except you had something helpful and non-flaming to say.

I would not have had time to respond to this, but currently the server i play on is down...for about 4 days in a row.

well after reading this i am thinking about NOT buying WOW considering that one must have a really powerful comp since the one i use probably wont run the game anyway.

My computer is at least 2 years old, I wouldn't rate it as really powerful, and I can play the game on it.

I don't know how accurate the results would be, but try this:

Dude, I'm right there with you.
During OB, WoW ran perfect, I had no problems whatsoever. However, after the OB ended and the retail edition was released, I installed my game expecting it to run as it did just days before.

    I was very wrong.

The game would freeze up within seconds of logging in. Nothing could be done to fix this except to hard-reboot. I was not the only one with this problem; hundreds of others were suffering from the same affliction. Did we ever get an answer from the support forums? No, of course not. Noone bothered to even give us speculation as to why, after a smooth OB, we suddenly found WoW unplayable on our machines. Adding insult to injury, we actually PAID for this mess.

I felt very betrayed and annoyed, and the fact that Blizzard did nothing to assist their paying customers was the source of great frustration. I have since lost interest in Blizzard's products.

On the plus side, it isn't like WoW is a very good game in the first place. I did manage to get a character to level 35, and my GOD it was the most boring thing in the world. Even SWG kept my interest longer than that trash.

I understand where you're coming from, even though I haven't had a single ounce of trouble. I guess I'm lucky, but on other games I have had some trouble and I know how frustrating it is. I've tried to contact Blizzard and I was snubbed, but I must also look at this in another point of view. Blizzard couldn't of expected 600,000+ in their first MMO. They are newbies when they come to it, so they are learning. Of the 200,000 problems, probably 190,000 of them are caused by hardware, or can be solved by rebooting or the other blah blah they say. I think the should be more recepetive to the fact that not all are solved by those few steps, and the flamers are quite anoyying, but im sure when you first started anything you weren't perfect. So I just hope you can give them some time to learn, because this game is incrediable. I mean I enjoy just running around as a dead spirit looking at the sights or just exploring when I'm alive. Practice makes perfect! Hope you can enjoy it as much as me. If anyone hasn't played this, then they have to or else they with suffer with the thought they missed out on the best game ever!!image

I think it's sad how people are forgiving Blizzard for their incompetence. How could they NOT know that 600k people would be playing? It's their jobs to know!

I'm sorry, but they don't deserve an ounce of pity or forgiveness until they fix the problems and fix them right.

well i tried that game advisor and it said that i only needed a new vid card. I guess thats all im going to get and im on. but its funny since i can play GW and its sys requirements are just as good.

I am one of the unlucky players who couldn't put a single hand on the game...and now they are out of stock. Sold Out. Why is that? Because they have been having some servers problems because of the "non-expected" amount of players they have now. They preferred to stop selling the game until they can stabilized it and have no more lags or "freezings" as some of you are saying. I think that shows Blizzard's commitment with the game and the service.

This is only to bring to your minds that freezings or lags may be generated by two different factors that shouldn't be mixed: 1) Servers problems and 2) User's machine.

You may want to check it first prior to spend some good bucks upgrading the machine.

Again, it's not USEFUL to post a complaint here.

Bottom line is you have a technical problem that should be solved. WoW has what, 600k customers now, of which maybe a few hundred or a couple thousand are having technical difficulties.

I don't see how you can blame that on Blizzard.

What you CAN blame on Blizzard is the fact their support personnel basically never respond, and you are basically going to have to solve your problem on you own.

In my experience, a BLUE screen is usually an OS/driver related problem and not a client bug.

For the longest time I was having black screen/reboot bugs, and I went in and turned off write combining, and couple of advanced options that my video card had, so far I have not crashed.

My suggestion to you is to seek help in the WoW support forums, because even though Blizzard will not help you, other technically inclined players will give you advice, in fact ppl drop by there frequently with "how I solved my issue" type posts.

I highly suggest that you get more RAM, at least bump it up to 512MB.

And you are either going to want to get a totally new 512MB module (recommended) or another 256MB module that is EXACTLY the same make and model of what you currently have in your system.

Replacing the 256MB module with one 512MB is recommended, however, as one module is better than two unless you have one of the newer motherboards that supports dual memory channels, which I would be willing to bet based on your CPU speed, that you don't have.

Whatever you do, DO NOT mix RAM modules from different manufacturers or even of different models from same maker as this can cause you a lot of grief. Trust me on this one.

You want to run stable? Go out and buy one (or two if you can afford it) 512MB modules.

BTW Samsung is a good brand to get.
