Im glad someone else said it....Aion has always felt like a f2p game to me. I couldnt explain why...but it just does. Granted I only made it to lv 41 but that was all I needed to see. The fortress raids are a massive joke. Atleast on the server I play on. It looks like the same 2 legions will just continue to trade forts back and forth. And I mean come on...who at level 50 is just going to sit in the abyss and kill 30+ characters all day. Yes im fully aware there are some instances later on....big deal. I had 10000x more fun in RF online, a f2p, then I do in aion. Bots and gold sellers....dont get me started. That topic can be flamed upon for hours.

I'm still enjoying Aion and I wouldn't consider going back to WAR.  Public quests were fun but that was about it for me.

This. WAR is a horribly designed game and doesnt warrant a second chance. They would need to rebuild the entire game from scratch to get to it a satisfying level again. Servers suggest no one is playing WAR and this doesnt surprise me.

Aion is the best PvP game on the market, fluid, content rich and made for the MMO purest. Most of the servers have very high activity, everyone is having a blast in Aion,

I've been thinking about giving WAR another shot the last few days, but it may just be boiling down to desperation and the need to play something. Aion has just been a bit of a rollercoaster and I think I lost a lot of my desire to play it in the first few days and the rest was slowly chipped away with annoying issues.

The queues in the beginning forced me t change servers twice. I was pretty annoyed with them and followed the "Change to a less populated server" advice. I picked one with a small queue only to find 2 days later that it was now as bad as the first, eventually a new server came out and it wasn't as bad but the damage was done.

I hit level 30 on my templar and captured a couple of articfacts in the abyss with my guild but it just didn't have the appeal anymore. It was a case of "Well this is how the PvP is and its nothing special". The wings aspect adds a nice dimension in one way, but a real annoying dimension in another. As a templar I had to outlast people in PvP, but simply casting their wings meant they were free to go at will, whereas against any kind of ranged class I did not have that luxury. I know its balanced around group fights, but even then, what the hell is the point of a templar in that case? You cannot tank a PvP situation, you are just background damage on classes, who if played right just ignore you. Group PvP ends up boiling down to "The bigger army wins" because there is little scope for tactics and its just zerg-on.

In terms of returning to WAR thats probably just going to be an exercise in remembering why I disliked the game in the first place cos at this point I really cannot remember. I tried a couple of free trials (Champions and Fallen Earth) the first of which has some potential but Im waiting out to see if they can get it to shine through at all. Fallen Earth im having trouble getting immersed in.

Before anyone shouts out that Vanguard may be a good option, I have to reply that while I do agree with you the community size and the fact that the SoE are wasting its potential means im not travelling that road again.

I see Aion being #2 for a long time. Masochism works like that. Aion is nothing more than another f2p-ish from Korea & don't know why people is paying a fee for that. Nothing learned from L2.

WAR merits a second chance now that Bioware is on command. Things will change with the free trial of tier 1. When it comes I will return to Nordland.

And I'm not a doomsayer. As I have said Aion is going to remain #2 next to WoW. Sad.

It is a question of fangs.

Aion isn't even in the same league as WAR or WoW, The character models look better than the environment and makes the whole game look out of place. The combat is like a gimpy version of Dark Age of Camelot's.  Warhammer at least knows what it's own artstyle is, this game is all over the place.

I just don't understand how anyone could fanboy this game at all.  It's as if the Anti-WoW brigade is looking for an MMO Champion so desperately that they'd consider this game worthy.

This game tries nothing new, it doesn't do anything that it tries to do right, it makes some of the same mistakes as World of Warcraft with none of the benefits.

What kind of class name is Gladiator anyways?

Yup, I am done (was done 3 days ago when my account expired). I will be playing lots of Borderlands and Dragon Age: Origins for the next several months.

MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.

Quit about 2 weeks back because PvP as a melee in this game is just terrible. (Seriously, I have to "cast"(wait for animation) my melee skills and hope my target stays within the 5m range? lmao, it just doesn't happen. Especially not during flying PvP. All I could do were some skills that built up to my combos, and autoattack.) If I actually got one of those melee attacks off that required me to stand still to cast it, the target was literally 20+ meters away by the time I was done. Mainly due to the lack of any type of real snares for melee.

I don't need to make a long post to say what I want to say.

Game stopped being fun for me about a week ago.  So I see no reason to re-sub after this month's done.

My server Telemachus is packed with players even in low level areas , the next patch is going to make many improvements , ncsoft is listening to the playerbase.
Aion is a good polished solid game with nice pvp elements.
War i tried it for like 2 months and quit , post tier 2 the game was so boring i could not even logon.
Good luck with war anyway .

I would have to agree with this person. All the major problems with the game I feel at least have been addressed and talked about on the website.  I have to respect that. In WAR, customrs were straight ignored and the game is now  empty.  They are down to 5 servers lol.  That being said Aion still has work to do.  My friends and I are having a blast. PVP is a nightmare lower levels and I'm loving every minute of it.  The game is young and it will only get better.   Btw this is like the 50th post about people leaving the game.  Why do you want people to care so much that you are leaving?  Its like having comcast and blogging about going to Direct TV..who cares?

Still enjoying the game at level 32. There isn't a mass exodus.

I have to say I love NCsoft the three times I asked for my money to be put back on my CC they had it back by the next days billing cycle great service usaly takes 3 to 5 days for the money to get back on your CC.

I tried the game three times and each try I played less with the two day head start being the last I played or will ever play this game.

LMAO I also see they made the top five of epic fail launches list right their with failcom and darkfail WTG Aion off  to a great start.

I also left WAR and tried this was going to leave WAR any way with all of  its  problems, but man to have to say  I would rather go play WAR then this thats realy bad I mean I like WAR more then this game but thats like having the choice between getting a charlie horse or getting a kick to the balls.

For me I have just had to take a break from the MMO's after about a year of epic failures AOC,WAR,DARKFALL,CHAMPIONS,and AION. I dusted off my PS3 and have had fun playing borderlands will play dragonage origins when it comes out.

Being the gluton for punishment ( as my GF puts it) I have star trek CE on preorder and will get SWTOR and give DC univerese a spin (might try out the PS3 on DC univerese tho) I mean some one has to put out a good MMO with a half way good launch some day right?????

Yes I agree, I've also unsubscribed.  The game is too linear with too much grind in my opinion.  The North American market just isn't into that grindy-style gameplay; kill x of these, hand-in x of those.  This is something Blizzard has done well with WoW, there are grindy quests in WoW as well, except Blizzard added a lot of variety in their quest lines right from release.  There's just something about Aion that doesn't really immerse you into the overall story or gameplay.  The fluid combat and movement was developed well, however that alone is hardly going to keep the vast majority of the NA market interested.

Don't get me wrong,  I don't mind a challenge in levelling and having it take week's upon weeks of in-game hours to reach max level.  I just think it should be done tastefully, with a less linear "boring" progression model.  Even the cut-scenes, to me they seem as if they were just thrown in last minute.  They are not quick little CGI videos with corresponding voice-overs as I would have liked, they are just in-game graphics with some camera rotations.

Overall, not impressed as I originally was.

same here on the templar doing next to no damage and having to have the money for the next set of armor and spells was enough for me in the abyss i was just the guy running around with nothing to do seemed rather pointless for the most part

I cancelled my sub after the first month..  It just wasn't my cup or tea.. Only a few classes can solo, and even that is restricted.. It's a flaw in a game when you can't even make it to 20th level without requiring alot of group help.. if I have to endure another /LFG for a Krall grind just to complete quest and get experience.. FORK THAT..  I guess that was the sign of things to come.. I'll pass.. I hate games that PUSH for group grindfest..

    Really? Are you that dumb?

Not even in the same league as WAR where you can get stuck on a blade of grass?  Heaven forbid you jump near a rock...   Let's not even touch how only a few classes really matter in WAR.

I get that you don't like Aion.. that's fine, but at least make credible arguements.  What kind of class name is Gladiator??? Really??? Not a fan of anything besides war/priest/mage? -_-  You rip on blind fanboys... but you're a blind troll.. move along and get back under your bridge.

    couldnt agree more with this.

Also, to the OP, I play Elyos on Lumiel.  The city and all the hubs I have been to this past weekend have been quite busy at all hours.  Also Lumiel hit FULL yesterday.  AION will maintain a healty playerbase for years to come.  Sorry it didnt work out for you.  Also, it seems your post is more a plug for WAR then anything else.

I had high hopes for WAR, but it turned out to be the only MMO I played that I disliked more then wow.

I do have to be honest here, if the devs dont fix the crash issue I am going to be forced to cancel my sub here soon.   Hope this doesnt happen as I am having a blast in AION and think it is a very solid MMO for both PvE and PvP fans.

Not to defend Aion, but ummm you are full of s--- and contradiction. First you say wow offer variety, obviously you were not around the first 3 years wow was released. All there was was, kill X, Collect X, Take X, Talk to X. Not really until TBC did that change a bit and even more into WoTLK. Aion, is a challenge, but all I see is people that are used to wow as it is now, and all other mmos having had followed suit. Back in the first 3 years of wow, before TBC, there was a "grind" between 40-60, there were tons of quests. Now I am not far enough into Aion to pass judgment on it as far as quests continuing until max. But you come here to boast wow, and make a comparison at least state facts and not misconceived opinions

Atm If I ever decide to cancel subscription is because it's a pvp oriented game but no games have come out that are pve oriented so nothing to play apart of single players and/or free 2 play.

Exactly.  most of the perceived "flaws" these fools bring up on AION are the same as the games the trolls play.  The best is the wow fanbois saying AION has a horrible grind.  Ok, well wow has TONS OF HORRIBLE GRINDS.

It just proves that time and time again, these guys will just say anything, no matter how silly it sounds.  It is almost as if they think we are too stupid to pick up on it.

Oh and saying an MMO has kill quests and delivery quests and then calling it a flaw of sorts, is basically as silly as saying Call of Duty requires you to shoot people and blow things up and then having the guts to turn around and try to point that out as a flaw.

    Glass houses...

Grinding, as use in reference to Aion, is essentially "my little winged ballerina emo angel has no more quests, so I have to run around killing 5,327 little carebear-looking mobs in order to finish out the remainder of the XP I need to level".

Quit trying to sell the game bro.  It's true colors have come out.  Enjoy your F2P grinder...if nothing else, in 3 months you'll be able to tell people that at least your toon in Aion is prettier than the ones in WAR.
