I thought it was goign to be another WoW fanboi post. I was plesently surprised
Okay, so someone reported me or I got reported to the Dark and Light staff and have been suspended from the beta "until further notice"...
I don't care!!
I still get to play the game when it releases soon... and while I am at it let me give all you people a few facts about the upcoming Dark and Light you may not already know:
* Dark and Light right now in it's beta is completely lag-free. It is totally seamless, no zones downloads ever.
* It is using connect-rite technology meaning that it checks your computer hardware and connection in a way no other mmo has ever done, this means perfect connections based on your hardware and adjusts for all the differences between you and another player on a super fast geek computer and super hi speed internet connection. This means fair duels and fights. Imagine that.
* When they say they are the largest mmorpg ever, they mean it, It isn't hype. The mountains in the game are ridiculously huge and a pleasure to trek thru or fly over. The beauty is breath-taking. The clouds, sunsets, snowstorms, thunderstorms, the water, everything is spectacular. Everquest with all of its expansions couldnt even come close to this landmass, and the graphics in EQ2 do not make a wart on DnL's butt. The realism in the way people walk, run, fly, summersault, kick, fight and talk blows anything else on the market to shreds.
* Magic is awesome, period. The effects of the magic spells and the power and force by which they can be used is unreal. Spells do more then light up the attacked person or mob to a different light color in this game and numbers reflecting damage done over their heads like most mmos. No, in DnL, the spells actually do something to the mob. Their arms try and cover their body and head to block as much from their face. Or they get knocked backwards rolling uncontrollably until they settle on the ground and pick themselves up from an awkward and different everytime position.
* Fighting is like nothing you've ever seen in an mmo before. The ways the the avatars move is fluid, un-predictable even if you watched your avatar fight 1,000 times. It's FUN to watch, not boring while you go get a slice of cake and come back to loot the dead corpse like in other mmos. You will be impressed.
* This is what mmo should and can look like when the developers love what they do and have a passio into making he best game out there, not just the biggest name or making the most money. Trust me, they will get rich off this game, it is like no other. Halflife 2 and Doom 3? Nothing compared to DnL and DnL is an mmo which means its unfair to match an mmo with a single player game. In this case, it is unfair to match Doom 3 and HalfLife 2 against Dark and Light. They simply cannot compete.
Think I am hyping this game?
I havent even scratched the surface of this awesome mmorpg. This game will do for PC games what the original "Gran Turismo" did for the original Playstation way back in 98 I think it was. This game is beyond belief. Believe the hype in this games case. Trust me. Believe all the hype and more and you will still be impressed.

I never really followed up on this game, but I know I need a new MMORPG since all of them suck right now. So when IS this game due to release? 2nd quarter or something?
Anyways, I dont care for graphics as much as the art, because graphics mean nothing if they derive from crappy art. Like EQ2... it doesnt look bad because of the graphics, it looks bad because it came from horrible concept art. The models are ridiculously ugly and the towns make my eyes want to bleed.

I'm pretty hype about DnL, howevery because it seems so ambitious, there is always a fear for me that its going to brick somehow.

Yea, all the screenies ive seen from the game look pixalated and ugly. These actually look pretty good.
EDIT: And that last one! The spell looks freaking fantastic... so much better then the average mmorpgs spell graphics.

Is the game as empty as we see in screenshots and movies?
It's empty only because it's still in beta. Wait until it comes out, and word gets out about how great it is. There will always be areas that will have fewer players like the mountain cliffs and stuff, while the cities will be crowded with traders and crafters and such.
I got booted from the beta for releasing information about the game on a previous post a couple days ago I assume. Like I say though, it's not a big deal - It means it will be fresh with a lot of new updates and changes and more improvements when I buy it in April.
The scheduled release is April 30. I honestly don't know what's going to take them that long though, because it seems ready to release now to me. I think they are just making sure that everything is perfect and that they can support a huge launch smoothly. I can't wait.
Those pictures that I posted links to STILL do not do this game justice. Like I say, it's the smoothness and realism in the way people walk, talk, fight, dance, run, jump and everything else that makes this game a mouth dropping experience.
Expect the best mmo you've ever played. Expect an mmo that dreams are made of. Expect the unexpected. And even then you will all be very impressed with such high expectations. Dark and Light is setting the new standards that EQ2, WoW, Lineage 2, and others have only promised. EQ2 did look good, but it was simply boring. The graphics were good, but bland. The fun element just wasnt there (atleast for me). I'm telling anyone who reads this that works for Turbine, Sony Online, EA, or Blizzard to Watch and play Dark and Light. And bring a notepad. LEARN SOMETHING other then how to hype another BS mmo to make money and disappoint more people. You can learn a lot from these guys at Dark and Light. It's called enjoying your job and putting some passion into it. And it makes the difference between a factory just making copies tirelessly of an old, aged photo and a passionate painter like Picasso who lovd what he painted and let his passion show in his work. And this will show to the world of mmo gamers when they play Dark and Light for the first time and what they experienced with every other mmo they've played. It's all the difference in the world, trust me. You'll see.

I really really wish I could believe that but its just the same hype that I/we have heard about EVERY game in Beta.....ever.
"Oh yeah its empty atm in beta... but just wait till >insert launch date here< and it will be full of everything you could ever wish for in a game.....and then more! (joy!) because the Devs will stick in all this content that they are hiding and dont need to test as its all perfect and wont cause any bugs at all when/if they do! and no it won't be a carrot on a stick after launch this time/this game!!"
Trust me I have heard it all before... Game Devs Lie!!! I tell you!! THEY LIEEEEEEEEE! Dam them ALLLLL!!!! (and so do beta testers).

How is the character customization at the start and as you progress in the game? In almost every pictures the warriors have some weird horny helms which I personally really hate.
From what you said on your previous post it looks like the game got some bones, I just hope it won't be another disappointment.

Youll have to wait a little while to play as a fairy, when theyre released though they can actually fly just like someone on a dragon or a glider, but youll need to be careful of storms and high winds

Seriously. your opinion is hopelessy biased. You are so a fan of this game that you lost the beta for revealing informations and so breaking the NDA (as you admit yourself). Only the most extreme fan (i refuse to use the word fanboi
) would do so such a thing.
so, while i take notice of what you say, i'm gonna wait and see it for myself before selling my soul for a MMorpg (like i did for SWG) and get so badly burned about it.
