I'll have you know I only troll with this account. Anyways I am not surprised at all that EQ2 isnt selling well. In mmo's it might be considered with an average amount of user base. In the game industry 350k isnt that much. Most good games sell over a million. The common gamer doesnt buy mmo's because they are time consuming, have abstract objectives, and usually end up to be a disappointment.
If I am not mistaken from the amount of ranting on these forums, player complaints about EQ2 in the ratings section, and user ratings from 5 other sites. EQ2 isnt as good as WoW. EQ2 might be considered OK, but there is always the constant complaint that they were too busy beautifying things that they forgot about how to add gameplay. Game play is the most critical part of a game. and WoW has some of that.
WoW isnt that great of a game either. Its mainly built of Warcraft and Blizzard fans. It also hits the common player better then long grueling the level with low amount of benefits EQ2. But it is hardly a refined game. The Alliance outnumbers the horde atleast 2 to 1. The attack speed isnt fast enough, it doesnt support raids over 50 people well. The player also spends a majority of the time they play going from A to B, and the chat system is annoying to make comments through.
Both games lack a sense of grand scale achievement like the mmorpgs slated for release in April and May. Infact if they didnt already have a fan base, these games would most likely be killed by the next wave of mmo's, as they have far more game play, explorability, questing, and achievement.
Because from the simple number of game play features in the game during its beta testing which the companies are glad to show off; both these games pale in comparison to Dark and Light, and Mourning.
We'll see at release. Theirs a world of difference between beta and an official release. Theirs also the intangables such as server stability (see WoW) that can kill a great game. And I don't belive you can get a true feel for a game during beta. I'm all for more quality mmorpg's, don't get me wrong. I've just come to be very skepitical of hype. All in all I really hope the new mmorpgs are awesome because it just means more options for us consumers.

you know what...i saw the same thing. along with a whole bunch of copies of WoW and GTA: San Andreas sitting in a rack down the aisle a bit....guess they suck too.

In my market Portland Oregon Everquest 2 is worth less then toilet paper, and this was originally in response to a post stating that they were dropping the price. 310,000 players is nothing world of warcraft sold that many in a day. Now i know why no one wants to play EQ2 because everyone who plays appears to be a bunch of assholes.
I smell a troll, why don't you go back to the WoW forums and post about thier great sales. Better then trying to make people mad here.
Originally posted by velorz No I didn't, I was reading about the game to see if I wanted to buy it. You guys made sure I wouldn't make a mistake like that.

Amen. I've been trying to get this point across for a long time. I've found that a lot of people's ego can't handle the fact that another game may have gotten something better than the game they like.
WoW is a seamless world, much better than EQ2's instence every few feet. I still like EQ2 better than WoW even though I can admit WoW did something better.

I'd like to know how you know about the gameplay of a game that comes out in March or April?

Totally pointless thread.

You get what you deserve.
Food for thougths and a comparison the WoW people migth even understand, ( allthough I doubt it in most cases ).
Just because Mc Laren F1 is a REALLY fast car that does not make a BMW M5 a slow one.
Apply above analogy to anything, in this case a game, and you are one giant leap closer to understand the foundation of economics.
