Its been a great journey, but sadly I've now finished the game and the adventures come to an end (aside from future DLC).
I'm wondering if there are any other PC RPGs in development, that I should be getting excited about? The only one I can think of is the Witcher 2.
Also wondering if there have been any other good RPG released fairly recent, that I may have missed, as haven't really been keeping tabs. I've completed Risen just to rule that one out.
Any suggestions?

If you have the PC version of Dragon AGe you could just keep a look out for scenarios / adventures made by players which would be free to download.
Other than that..for us pc RPG players..there is no life after Dragon Age! the humanity hehe j/kin.
The Dragon Age™ Toolset
But why did you not posted it in the non-mmorpg section?
What I am finding is that after playing Dragon Age, I have no desire to play mmo's anymore.
I might play the Witcher again, I never downloaded the enhanced pack. I actually found the Witcher was very similar to dragon age in the way it plays and feels. Also might try Oblivion again, never did any of the add on packs.
There is one game in development called project offset that looks pretty awesome, but it one of those games that may never see the light of day, due to the small dev team.
Well I guess its back to reality then for a bit, I'll see what player DA content arises.

Because Dragon Age is a non-mmorpg. Its a single player rpg!!! Probably my mistake don't post often enough to know what the crack is.

You do not need to post allot, you simply just need to read before you post something as to where you post it.
I keep saying this but I really thought gamers would be good at finding things in a wimp.

What can I say, I've overdosed on too much Dragon Age and my minds turned to putty. I thought if I clicked non-mmorpg, Morigan would magically appear with with my demon child!!! Lifes hard when its not multiple choice.

I've finished my second full play through, and have tried all the origin stories (About 140 hours invested so far). Next on my to play list is Risen.
And has CDPR confirmed The Witcher 2? It's been a few months since I last popped on the forums....

Theres been a few leaked play vids over the past months, some on www.pczone.co.uk I think CDPRs been purchased by a bigger developer. I'm gonna go back to Risen got half way through then Dragon Age came out.
*cough* Mass Effect 2 *cough*
Yeah there is that but I'm a sucker for fantasy, over sci fi.

If you not seen it yet take a look at: The Witcher 2 Gameplay - Internal video!

Oh yeah, that looks bad ass! I can't wait to play it. I might put Risen on hold and do another Witcher play through instead lol.
*Edit*
Speaking of Mass Effect ... I like DAO better all around, but I wish your toon in DAO was as awesome as Shepard.

I've seen movies that were less linear then dragonage. BW needs to take lessons from Bethesda(Oblivion).

lol, I know what you mean.
OP, you might want to consider, if you have never done this and if you can be a bit forgiving about graphics, ordering the original Baldur's gate series. Apparently there is a 4 pack of this series that should run on windows xp. Even though I have finished DA and have made it through a good part of the game using other characters I decided to order this.
http://www.amazon.com/Baldurs-Gate-4-1-Boxset-PC/dp/B000FGA1US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1258758271&sr=8-1
I'll admit that I got it used on amazon for twenty dollars and it is on its way as I write this. I never finished the original Baldur's gate and had a hard time getting through BG 2 but I was younger then and though I did enjoy them, there were things that didn't spur me on to continue. However being older and wiser I suspect that I'll be able to get through them and enjoy them as they should be enjoyed.
As someone mentioned, the witcher is also a contender. There is a lot of good to say about this game. My issues with it were that the movement was somewhat slow to stop and start. Sort of a more realistic way for characters to move. And unfortunately for me, when I clicked somewhere for the main character to go, it would be so slow to start I couldn't tell if the game was being wonky or if the character was "starting to move". Because of this I started gettng hand aches from repeatedly pounding the mouse key to get my charcter to move.
However, that's my issue. It's dark and gritty and the main character is interesting. If you have a decent machine you should have no problem.

What was incorrect about my statement? Even a blind fanboi can see that the game is linear and is not an open world. Maybe you like being guided through a game but games like Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls Series will always be better then linear games (like DA). If I wanted to watch cinematics every 5 min I would just watch a movie.

Different approach. Oblivion with its sandbox approach suffered from a very poor story. You need to have a [roughly] linear gameplay in order to make the story work.
Personally I disliked the Elder Scrolls games a lot, since they felt dead, empty and purposeless. Fallout 3 was great but the story was nothing really captivating, it was the free roaming that made it fun.
P.S When stating your opinion it's good to avoid outright lies ['cinematic every 5 minutes'].
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

I'll answer that for you. Oblivion may have been less linear in that you could pick a direction and wander through the wilderness, but the storyline was anything but open-ended. There were lots of quests here and there, but the main storyline was the same no matter how you went through it.
Dragon Age has choices that actually do affect the outcome of the story... some of them significantly. In every way that matters in terms of an RPG, Dragon Age is less linear than your example. And you can choose in what order you visit each area in the game... which really isn't much different from deciding to go east first, instead of west.
I do agree with you though that Oblivion's open-map approach is a bit more immersive and preferable in my opinion... but I still enjoyed the story and overall game experience in Dragon Age more than I did in Oblivion.

Incorrect. Gamers like yourself need to be held by the hand and shown what to do and where to go while gamers like myself flourish in sandbox like games. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are my top games because of the lack of direction and freedom of choice.

Calling Oblivion a more linear game then DA is just blind fanboism and just makes you look like a fool. If you don't have an open map/world then the game is linear.

I dont' really think it's cut and dry like that.
Games like Doom or Quake are linear games. Games like Blood Raine Are linear.
Dragon age really isn't linear because you can make decisions to go to different areas. As far as the dialouge choices, there are three type that I can see.
Dialogue that actually leans the immediate (and later epilogue) story toward one bent or another, dialogue that opens up information or even unlocks specialties and dialogue that is supposed to be Role play dialogue but sort of falls flat for my taste.
Games like Oblviion or Morrowind suffer in the story telling bent because they allow for too much freedom. For instance, in oblivion I get an amulet that seems pretty important. However, I don't really have to act on having it in my possession or really worry about the bad guys moving quickly to secure thier dominate the world objectives. They will wait on me. I cant tell you have many role playing decisions I had to make in order to plausibly get through the game as otherwise it would seem ridiculous that I spent my time in Eastern Tamriel exploring ruins and the bad buys were nice enough to wait on me.
In Tandem with that there is the run on Kvatch where I go, shut the gate (because that's what heros do!) and the Guard asks me if I can join them to take the city. "I better act quickly because the Daedra won't wait".
But they will wait. They will wait months and years if need be.
This is not to say I don't love Oblivion or morrowind. I do and still play the heck out of them. But they really aren't about story pacing.
Dragon Age is about a story and your decisions that affect the story. Large plot points will happen. But they will happen in slightly different ways depending on your decisions. Same with party members. Do they attack and kill you because you destroyed a sacred artifact, do they leave because you realize that the main baddie can actually be of use to you.
Dragon Age is about the story and about your decisions within the main framework of that story. Note that I am not saying that this is an amazing story for very original.

This sums it up for me rather well.
Also, unless you want to have a different type of storytelling, such as the movie "The Last year at Marienbad".

Where the storytelling is very non-linear but probably wouldn't make sense. Most people require a story to at least have a forward moving arc.

I don't blame you for thinking the way you because you've been spoon fed storylines in games and you are used to being given a direction. You say Oblivion suffers from lack of direction but it is you who suffers from not understanding the sandbox concept. This is why you had a hard time understanding and playing Oblivion. Freedom in a game world is overwhelming to gamers that aren't innovative.
I'll say it clear this time. Their's nothing wrong with linear games, they dominate the market and I even enjoy some (Deadspace, Cryostasis, etc) but the games that will have you "coming back for more" are the open-ended non linear gamers.

I didn't have any problem playing Oblivion or Morrowind and as I said I still play it. But I don't feel it does a great job with story pacing as I pointed out.
Most stories don't stop for a while so the read can spend time in another part of that story without regard to the rest of that story progressing without them. Which it should. If Oblivoin had a moving story that allowed the player to drop in and out but kept that story moving with or without the player the player might get a better sense of the drama.
And as I also get my story fix from other places such as books and theater I'm fairly confident that can take on different types of story telling without getting confused. See last year at Marienbad above.

In my opinion, Oblivion was absolute crap. CRAP.
I, for one, love a good sandbox ... and Oblivion was NOT a good sandbox. Sure, I could go where I wanted ... but the story was LINEAR ... far more than DAOs. Perhaps you're so misguided and jaded that you are unable to see that (blind fanboi-ism perhaps?).
*Edit*
Oh wait, your one of those suckers that bought the BS about Darkfall being a "sandbox" ... guess there is no reasoning with you. Have a good one.
