If you could touch it, it would feel like baked beans in a warm tomato sauce.
Why are there so many cutesie, fantasy, childish MMO's. Give me blood, gore and a long lasting challenge. I don't need my hand being held along the way. Thanks.
You watch a lot of cutscenes and follow a very linear path, slightly different storylines depending on your character and choices. It is still fun if you can get past that... I personally prefer a more open world.
So is Dragon Age a linear game with limited player freedom and static game world?
You have never played a BIOWARE rpg before i guess? they make story driven linear games (which offers movie like experience). And they are damn good at it.
I really hope for the love of god, Bioware dont just make Swtor a bloody single player cutscene game, where I have to just keep watching a cutscene very 2mmins. This is what bioware does in all their games, they just load it up with cutscenes.
Nope infact its pretey linear. The only none linear RPG is morrowind, end of story. Nothing beats it. Dragon age RPG of the decade, my ass.
What about Oblivion? Seemed pretty "open" to me, though you did follow a certain story line.
I like linear. The problem with both Oblivion and Morrowind is that they gear the level of the content to you. You can basically go straight to the end game if you want. And... you can NEVER own creatures. I like to know that if I go back to such-and-such an area, I will kick @$$. Or if I go forward to such-and-such a place, I will get my @$$ kicked. You never really feel like you're getting any better in those games. I know Oblivion got such good reviews... but I have to say, I just got so bored. Even though I REALLY wanted to love it. JMHO. Cheers.
Dragon Age is a VERY good game, WELL worth buying.
However, it is definitely not the holodeck running a medieval simulation that we are all desperately waiting for.

Apparently you've never actually played Morrowind. It does not gear the level of the content to you. That's Oblivion. And, I highly suggest a mod to remove that. There's a few that will do it.
the mod to remove the level scaling in Oblivion is OOO (oscuros something, google it) great mod.
There are several non-linear rpgs around, alot infact, to mention just one from this year, there is Risen...
To answer OP´s question: there is no game with a living breathing world..sadly.
the way dragon age "changes" is whenever you perform a big enough story event, some things might change, thats that, but dont get me wrong, they do stories, and they do them supremely well.
I can only recommend it, if you like a solid rpg with an interesting story.
Game-wise, atleast for me it doesn't give me a organic living breathing world feel, mainly due to it being linear, which is the footprint of RPG's from Bioware. And I still enjoy them, luckely there are also RPG's with a more Open World, so there is choice for me.
Would Dragon Age be more of Open World RPG we either needed even higher specs to actualy play the game or many things would be sacrificed out of the game, which would not creat the game the way we see it being the way it is now and plenty of people enjoying the game including me.........when I aint going for FE with the limited gametime I already have.
Nope infact its pretey linear. The only none linear RPG is morrowind, end of story. Nothing beats it. Dragon age RPG of the decade, my ass.
To be fair, an RPG doesn't have to be open ended or non-linear to be good.
Bioware is known for making great linear, story driven RPGs. I honestly can't think of a game they made which sucked.
As for the OP, is Dragon Age a living world? Not really. Sure there are NPCs that hang around and walk around but it's not really the same as say, Oblivion or Fallout 3.

Nope. I have played Morrowind. It's just my failing memory that is suspect I'm afraid. Oblivion seems to have overwritten that memory. However, very interesting to hear about the mod for oblivion. I WILL try that.
I really hope for the love of god, Bioware dont just make Swtor a bloody single player cutscene game, where I have to just keep watching a cutscene very 2mmins. This is what bioware does in all their games, they just load it up with cutscenes.
I'll admit I haven't been keeping close tabs on it, but I thought this was what they were aiming for - more of an online singleplayer game rather than an mmo?
And I totally agree that no game has come close to Morrowind for creating a living, breathing world. That game was so engrossing that I played it beginning to end, breaking only to work, eat and sleep. And that was unmodded.
Oblivion, was ok, but I had to load dozens of mods to make it fun, and it never held my interest long enough to finish it.

Why yes, yes it is!
If you could touch it, it would feel like baked beans in a warm tomato sauce.

Thats just hot!

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
To be honest, few games possess an "organic, living, breathing world".
It requires way more than a huge landscape in my book.

+1
A game when you can't go from place A to place B just by walking in the nature is not a "living breathing world"

Try Real LIfe, I hear it has those qualities.
If you are looking for a game like that...it hasn't and likely never will happen.
There aren't any games that have those qualities, replace few with none.

What? No it isn't. It's not the "only" nonlinear RPG. It may be your favorite, but don't lie about it.
the mod to remove the level scaling in Oblivion is OOO (oscuros something, google it) great mod.

Visually, most definitly

agreed with dems2
I love the cutscenes.
The problem is that the cake is a lie of gameplay.
