The FPV melee and mounted combat is imo really good.
The beta have started (pre order and you can play it today). But you should clearly wait until after release. Keep an eye on it.

i wouldnt suggest that at all...the game is a land scape with a slow mele fight atm, and thats all. and you think you can play it when you pre order that shit ? i suggest the person do some research before pre ordering

Melee slow? It's realistic and not just smashing a key as in other MMOs. It involves lots of tactic.  ... see this video how it can be ... 15 sec into the video it starts getting interesting:

Check mounted combat (axe and bow):

There is no perfect MMO out there. Each and every MMO out there has bugs and always will have them. The thing is simply: you have to overlook the annoying stuff.

Your minimap disappears? If it's a bug it will probably fixed soon. If the rest of the game is fine, why should that stop you from playing?

Animatinos are odd? If they're supposed to be this way, then you have to decide how much fun this is killing. If it's a bug or something, bear it until it gets fixed.

No endgame? Then the game is probably new. If the game is viable, then just keep playing it (with different alts or something) until the endgame is implemented.

There is no perfect MMO. You just have to decide: is it worth my money and time? How much fun do I get out of it? What might the game be like in the near future? If you stop playing because of any minor bug then you will never again be playing an MMO for a longer time.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

And no. I don't want to play Star Wars.
I would like a generally awesome MMO, with both PvE and PvP endgame. Lots of class customization (talent trees, whatever) and a fair amount of character customization. Pay to play is wanted (because of quality) and no item shop please. I also want a mature community, and a fair amount of things to do. And... unique! Suggestions?
EDIT: I was also one of the unlucky souls who preordered Aion... so yeah.

These "MMOs have failed me" posts are all exactly the same. The OP wants no change in what has been done before (endgame, classes, even the business model)... but it must be unique!

Pretty much everything on the horizon looks like garbage.  I'd just give up for a long time.

Other than TOR the only games that seem like they will be interesting enough to try are indy sandbox titles and we all know how those games release.

So if you aren't looking forward to TOR and wont be willing to invest in a Released beta sandbox for 6-12 months then you better find a game to stick with or leave the genre for the next five years.

I have games like Eve and Ryzom to hold me over and old games like UO, AO, GW to skip to if I ever truly get bored added with the recently released sandbox/hybrid games DF and FE that will be fantastic in a year to 18 months time.

More than enough for me to play for the next 5+ years.

    PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

    Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum

Better double cross your fingers for Mortal. At the moment, the interface is absolutely horrible and needs a 2nd overhaul, and while their ideas are great, you can't even test half of the things because of how lacking the game is in its completion at the moment. This would be less of an issue if they weren't planning on releasing soon...

At the moment you're dropped into a town naked, aaaaand thats it. Took me a while just to figure out how to target and talk to NPCs (as apparently just clicking them is out of the question). Then money becomes an issue, as you are naked, and there doesn't seem to be anything around to punch to death to even get starter coin, and you can't harvest without tools. Clearly some people have figured it out as I saw one person come by on a horse once, but yeah, massively unfinished state and I don't know how they're going to get it up to snuff by when they want/need to release.

Well, you can expect the GUI to be improved more. They have a person on it now and it has been improved already a lot, the last 3 weeks and they will improve it more. So within 1 month it will be really good.

    we can but hope

you could always check out the ex p2p games like anarchy online or dungeons and dragons

or there are some smaller ones like ryzom(sandbox wow), neocron 2(fpsmmorpg but hard to access outside europe atm because of click2pay) or vendetta(space shooter style)

EQ2 is a very good game. Roll on Nagafen, the (populated) pvp server. You will have pvp and pve, lot of raid content, open world pvp.

I have kinda lost hope in mmorpgs. I do see a bright horizon though. A lot of games are coming out soon, and within the next year. If they fail, they will be learning from their mistakes. The question is... Shouldn't they haved learned already? Who knows, it takes failure to make a good product. I see a bright horizon. I will not hope, until i actually play the game itself. So, it's 50/50 for me.

I remember playing Anarchy Online for  couple of years and recently went back to it after 5 years absence trying to re-immerse myself but realized that as I have gotten older and am more focused on my career and spending time with my family I find it harder and harder to justify spending hours upon hours in an MMO any more.  People might be falling into a similar fate as me.  They may just be wanting something they can spend a couple of hours in a week and in an MMO it's hard to just spend a couple of hours week because you end up falling behind your peers in level.  So it's hard to maintain the same social peer group when ends up in solo play.

That's been my experience anyway. MMORPG used to be revolutionary but now they aren't.

So for me, I am not sure there will ever be an MMO that suits my wants/.  However I think ideally I am after rich content and a casual experience rather than being involved in uberness.

I've been around in MMO land for more then 10 years now, and i found that even the best games get boring after 3 years... For a game to keep my attantion it has to be new and fresh, so which games really captured my attention and why?

EQ.... My first MMO, fantastic new experience (3 years)

DAoC... Awesome PvP experience (3 years)

WoW... I just loved the quests and instances, good story backgrounds (2years)

And then i started loosing attention in any  game after about a month, sometimes 2...

But there is allways hope, i started playing DDO when it got free to play with not much hope... But ... as an old PnP D&D nerd the system got hold of me, the game feels fresh, it has awesome combat that feels different from any other MMO and challenging quests. This game comes close to the experience of an offline RPG combined with many feautures of an MMO. So maybe your new MMO is just over the horizon, just take a break untill you find a game you really like... My hopes are that Biowares Starwars might revoluyionise the genre again and that this game will feel fresh...

And try not to compare games to what you know (which is very hard) but treat every game like its own experience..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

One of the big reasons, i lost hope was because i always compared. No, i didn't compare every game to world of warcraft. I compared some aspects of other games, how it compares to this game. I never should have done that... I don't think you should too. If you have, you should stop. Take it from me... That is the biggest reason i lost hope in games. I haven't had hope since then. I get bored with games in a time of months. Used to be years... That is how sad it's been for me.

C9 looks awesome. lot of games are coming out, they are talking about this on mmosite, there not a lot of NEW mmorpg on mmorpg.com

You can try to move on to another MMO but you won't feel satisfied. WoW is a really solid game, despite what the haters think. And any other MMO you move to will feel to plain(for instance I played darkfall a few weeks ago and it pissed me off that you had to equip your staff and hit the r key to go in combat mode and THEN cast a spell, rather then just hitting '3' and casting a shadowbolt like in WoW). You are spoiled with great features and fluid combat in WoW and you really don't realize it until you quit and try other MMO's. Take it from me, I've played every MMO out there and after I quit WoW I felt empty, and I still have wow withdrawal 6 months later...even though i quit WoW for a good reason and I don't regret it,I still miss it...as much as I hate it LOL... (its a love hate thing).

Right now I'm playing empire total war and waiting for the new SWTOR mmo and I hope that empty feeling goes away.

EDIT: Oh yea I forgot to say if you want you could try EVE Online, it's a great game, lots of custimization, freedom and great pvp. And a player run economy. It's the next best thing to WoW if you don't mind being a spaceship.

bioware doesn't make bad games but then again this is their first MMORPG

I was watching some of the videos on their website...the one where the developers take you through a whole quest...i swear its JUST like KOTOR...which is fine because I LOVED that game...but would that work for an MMORPG? IDK I guess we'll see.

I've already lost hope but every new game that looks awesome regains it. Then I go and try it and lose it again. I'm just going to sit tight and wait for Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2 (which IMO will not last very long), Blade & Soul and a few others. For now, COD:MW2!

It's such a shame really, all that amazing content, and it can't be fully appreciated due to the one, primary need. Other players your level. It's kind of dumb too. If you think about it, MMO's are built for the long haul. The longer since their release, the more content that is able to be added, and the better the game can get, coming ever so close to that ultime MMO youve always wanted. But by the time it gets to that aged, well defined, quality sate with content upon content. All the players have fled!

This is why levels in a MMO are a really dumb thing.  All they do is further dilute developer time for the player base.

Oh and I'd vote for City of Heroes if you are looking for something different with lots of content and things to do.  It's a fun game and should hold your attention for some time.  If you are into PvP it might not be your thing though.
