My major complaint is that Cryptic made the TNG and DS9 uniforms exclusive to the collector's edition instead of a standard part of the character creator. I refuse to use the pieces of ugly crap Cryptic calls a "Starfleet uniform." It's almost as if this company is trying their hardest to piss off Star Trek fans.

Actually the leaked beta footage has been proven to have been manipulated to put the game in the worst possible light,  The idiot who did it even went as far as dubbing in the champions soundtrack, other beta testers have pretty much debunked him.

No question, I pre-ordered. Even if the game flops, I'm gonna milk every minute I can out of this. I'm sure everyone has one or two games in their libraries that were either flops or didn't stay at the top for long, and yet they have no regrets about buying it. This is how I feel about this game.

Sure, it may be a typical MMO with respect to loading screens and grind, but as far as I'm concerned, that's how MMO's are and this blends 2 of my favorite passtimes; MMO gaming and Star Trek. Good enough for me, and the art-book and other extras make it worth the price for me. It's less expensive than, say, the World of Warcraft collector's edition was.

Hmpft... I would be glad Germany had ANY edition, special or whatever. Can't preorder it here at all, and due to Atari, there are no plans to. So I am in the absurd position that I WANT to give them my money but they won't LET ME. *__*

Okay I preordered the CE through Gamestop.  The borg officer through Amazon was tempting but I'd rather have a Constition Class starship.  $99.71 with overnight shipping.  I need rape counselling now.

Communicator badge!?  Damn! And here I was hoping it would be James Tiberius Kirk's own still twitching disembodied penis, and not just some cast metal widget I could buy on most good prop websites. Good God man, you can already buy so much Trek cargo cult junk, why plonk down good money for a game that you aren't sure you will enjoy just to get a few pieces more?

This kind of unabashed merchandising plus players like Tavis's outlook of "who cares if it sucks I'm just happy to say I own it" attitude is what is killing the MMORPG genre as a whole.

I could care less about the communicator.  I already have communicators, phasers and tricorders.  I even have a uniform in the closet, lol.  Having access to the TNG and DS9 uniforms is kind of a must though.  And getting the Constitution class starship is making me feel all giddy.  I can't wait to sit in the command chair of her bridge.  Plus, my family doesn't celebrate Christmas by giving gifts, and my birthday is February 7th :)

I hope the game doesn't suck, but there are plenty of Star Wars fans that also buy crappy or mediocre games simply because it is Star Wars.  It's not some grand conspiracy to take down the mmo genre, but it does speak to the power of these two IP's.  Hell, my earliest memory of TV was sitting on the floor watching Star Trek on our black and white TV in the early 1970's.   So I will take one for the team and pony up for the CE.  Maybe the extra funds will help them.

I just wonder what will happen with me playing Fallen Earth.  Maybe by then I will be max level and bored.  Maybe I could play both.  But then there is also the Star Wars mmo and I'm a Star Wars fan too.  So there will be lots of hard gaming decisions to make in 2010.

Hehe, I won't tease you, since I have just as much Star Wars trinkets. ;)

But really, seeing everyone and everyone's mom in an Enterprise is my reason Number One to take one of the new, unknown models. The last thing I want to make in a fleet gathering is having the 234234th Enterprise copy. But each to his/her I say. ;)

If only they LET me buy.

Well I hope we get to have several ships because I love the Galaxy class and the Intrepid Class.  I love TNG Enterprise and Voyager as much as I love the old 1701a Constitution class Enterprise.

I find it disturbing nobody really cares it is one of the highest priced pre-orders to date. I cannot bring myself to purchase it at that silly price tag if it had a borg ship as a ingame gift. GL on the STO I'll be passing until there is a respectable review on it in live mode instead of wasting another 50-80 usd on a chance the game will not suck balls.

I think my only issue with the CE/Pre orders so far is there is nothing in there for a Klingon - where are our free ships, i'm not intrested in playing the federation. Seriously where are the Klingon specials or are they just not intrested in the "other" faction.

There is nothing in the dark that's not there in the light.

Almost everything about the game suggests that to me.

I'm pretty sure it will work, too.

The fact that you are going to pay extra for them proves you wrong in that statement.

Admittedly I haven't been keeping up with reviews and whatnot for STO, but.. what? What qualifies as "tons & tons" of load screens? Which instancing sections are considered small?

He's just being a troll, he doesn't have any clue how the game works beyond the short videos they show us. Kids these days are SO cute, aren't they?

don't I? I know that every planet is one SMALL instance around orbit and THAT IS IT. Then Sector space is one boring and non-immerse grid that shows all 19 mission hubs (planet instances) and the whole thing is a minimal effort and creating a "universe". YMMV, but to me, this is an on-rails, instance-fest, snoozer that isn't deserving of the Star Trek IP, and Cryptic should be ashamed they're releasing this as a launch client in 1.5 months.

.. then again, these are the same nitwits behind Chumpions Online.

You seem well informed enough so now I'm forced to wonder what exactly you get out of coming to a game forum that you already know you have no interest in playing (troll).  I guess that these are just forums and everyone is entitled to freely have an opinion but my biggest question often is if your opinion does not change anything and is negative why just avoid being a troll and stay away from it?

I think SOE screwed the mmo community with what they did with SWG and just about every game they've made since I don't take any personal pleasure out of raining on the parade of those who I know will enjoy the games still and again I wonder why trolls like yourself seem to take so much pleasure in it.  I can only assume you have either no girlfriend and find yourself lonely so you lash out or maybe you just don't have a game you enjoy playing now and as such are forced to lash out (which if that is the case maybe video games/mmo's aren't your thing anymore).

But really all you guys trolling with your negativity that changesnothing nor falls into the category of informative is really draining.

Now as for the CE I don't even get into that stuff and to be honest Cryptic has teetered far too close to the realm of SOE lately with the little stunts they've pulled so they have only reinforced my personal preference to not pay extra for fluff things like CE's.  And yes that is my hand spank to you Cryptic for screwing people with the whole Champions/STO beta launch fiasco (which did not effect me but I am trying to be reasonable for the folks who would have avoided the game if not for that little trick they pulled) and in general other things I've heard about with Champions online who's history has bothered me to no end up to this point.

    Again though I'm playing

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Things DO get changed before release. I would not be surprised if strong opinions voiced by a lot of people affected that.

As someone who knows and has played STO at several different locations and times. STO is packed with loading screens. It's not uncommon to see 2-3 loading screens in a 5 min period when trying to do a mission. Thats something that is not going to change. The game uses the same game engine as Champions Online and Cryptic believes heavily in there instancing system.

I wouldn't doubt it if you do not hear (if they haven't announced it yet) that the game is going to only have one us server and will be broken up into instances just like Champions Online.  So if you did not like that about CO you are going to hate it about STO.

    *sigh*

Doesn't even sound like a MMO.  Sounds worse than AoC.  I hope the massive fail of these console port wannabe MMOs is the deathknell for the idea.

Actually I believe they have said there will only be one US server already, which given what looks like what will be record sub drops after the first month, is probably a good thing.
