Anyone else notice this. I'm not talking about optimism, I'm talking about out right cultlike status.
It seems like every time someone criticizes the game, you'll get multiple people coming in and saying something like "You don't know what you're talking about, Bioware is making it, so it will be perfect." or "I'm sure Bioware has thought of everything and will make this game perfect.
Yes Bioware makes great games......single player games. People need to stay positive, but also objective. Telling Bioware that they are perfect in every way could lead to them taking less interest in player concerns and just do what they want.
So you would be happy and encourage other people to come into your house and take a dump on the carpet?
People really are doing that when they are bringing up their issues with any game. It is respectful to treat things as they are instead of trying to complain about how it isn't being done your correct way.
People that Bash n Trash things with nothing to back them up except the accusations with Fanboi, newb, hater, and whatever else you can think of to prove to others that your science is better just need to STFU.

Sort of. But it's just the same types of stinky, stupid dumps that really piss people off and make them appear as "fanbots". You can guess what I'm talking about. Either the green, chunky, "Dis Gayme R Single-Playuh Wif Chatbox! Dun Pai Fer It!" dump, or the mushy, slightly purple, "OOF! Graphics Is Cloned From WoW! Kiddie-land! Kiddie-land!"
Now if I came into your house, scratched my butt, squirmed a bit, said politely, "I have to take a dump, where's the nearest bathroom?", and flushed when I was done, that's acceptable. That's called constructive criticism, and that's the kind that leads to good discussions. Of course, some of the most zealous fanbots will attack even that kind of criticism, and that's not right. But as for every other lame thread? You shouldn't expect anything else, really.
Besides all that, every AAA MMO these days in development has fanbots. Hell, even Darkfall has some rabid ones, and it's not AAA. To make things worse, this is Star Wars. Everyone knows about Star friggin' Wars. And a lot of people like it, too. Player-generated hype is through the roof on this one; Bioware's name certainly doesn't help either, seeing as they have a great reputation and high customer satisfaction. If any game was going to have "Rampant Fanbotism", it's this one. But, like I said, I don't think it's too bad in threads that actually foster real discussions (constructive criticism threads).
While I agree totally, it is the game forums. Besides, even there and anywhere else, there are trolls saying how bad the game is, that it's just a singleplayer game among other "non informed opinion based but I say its a fact" threads.

I'm sorry but critiquing what the developers themselves have given us to taste and review is incredibly different from 'encouraging other people to come into your house and take a dump on the carpet'. For you to even think that suggests your passion for this - not even launched - game is disproportionate.

Developers just do what they want anyway. That's their job is to build the best game they know how and that's what they want to do. Your agreeing or disagreeing with them is irrelevant. Most of this was planned out years in advance of release before there even was a forum.
Actually No. Most mmorpgs are just loose ideas the most of the time is spent building the game engine. During this time some graphics such as the avatars are worked on and ideas for areas are in loose drawings etc. The part the makes up the game play is done in the last year, which is odd seeing as the gameplay makes or breaks a game.
So that being said ideas from players if the dev team is active on the forums can make a difference.

Or how a LFG-tool actually destroys MMO communities because you don't have to stand around in a city spamming, "Looking for Healer!" for anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. Basically, you don't have to "talk" (LOL) to anyone to group, so the community has no chance to bloom.

That's a rather unique complaint, spamming LFG for a few hours in a city not linked to other areas encourages player interaction. hmm.

Now I see what the OP meant about the rabid fanboys, yikes.
Having a series of instanced hubs that you can warp friends you've made outside the game into,is not an MMORPG.
Traditionally, MMORPGs are massive virtual worlds where you interact with 10s of thousands of other players.
This game, is built around the solo player. From the mouth of the devs themselves 99% of the content in the game can be done solo. They even went so far as to make player companions to make soloing easier so you can have a healer bot with you instead of another player.
MMORPGs are not a series of instanced hubs(levels). That is Diablo. That is Titan's Quest. That is not EverQuest. Hell, Borderlands was more of an MMO than this game seems to be.
I am not a troll, I am stating facts. If you think all an MMORPG is, is a LFG tool, then I can tell your first MMO must have been WoW or something.

Are you being sarcastic?
I'm saying it's a stupid argument. Some people believe that not having to spam LFG for a few hours in a city is actually a bad thing, because it cuts down on player "interaction". That's why I said, "Basically, you don't have to 'talk' (LOL) to anyone to group." It (spamming LFG) is hardly talking, it's just an unnecessary, tedious action that is effectively eliminated with a good LFG tool.
There are plenty of other, better ways to foster player interaction.

Signus. Oh Signus, you feared Darkfall fanbot. Why, oh why, would you even bother visiting these forums? Obviously, anyone of your reputation will do nothing but bash it. Why? It's not a sandbox. It's not like Darkfall or SWG. That's painfully, blatantly obvious, and it always will be. So, instead of complaining about what you can't change, why not leave it alone? This is what I referenced in my earlier post. People keep stating the obvious about TOR (the bad things, i.e. it's not a sandbox, it's a single-player game with a chat box, etc.), and after a while, you just kind of ignore them or react with what might be considered "fanbot" responses.

The trolling is strong with this one. You said you didn't read, then you commented on what I posted. Strange indeed.
I don't know anyone who has ever said a LFG tool breaks player interaction. I am pretty sure LFG tools have been in every single MMORPG since 1999. No MMOs had you instantly warp into a dungeon like an FPS game though, now THAT is a bad system for anyone that values a real virtual world. Fine for casuals.
And this game doesn't just "have" single player. It IS primary FOCUSED on single player. There is absolutely NO incentive to group, therefore, people will not. The devs want people to be able to log in for a half hour and get some of their quest line done. There is no open world, there is no place for people who don't want to solo, to run into and meet other players, you log into your instance and you go through your quests. The only time you won't be soloing is when you go out of your way to invite a real life friend or something. The game has a few "social" or "PvP" hubs that might as well just be chat rooms with graphics. Nothing actually happens there. I don't think you know how MMOs work.

Skimming is not necessarily reading Sigmus. Trolling calling troll is pretty funny to. Nice work.
The story arc is the primary focus of the Solo play. Odds are BioWare is going to go with group scaling (increasing difficulty, gear stats etc) , I would say that gives plenty incentive. The instancing is mostly used in the story, where I said thats where most of the solo play is, there is no real instancing (outside questlines) in ToR, they are taking the phasing route, even then phasing it not used in the open world, just buildings.

That's a rather unique complaint, spamming LFG for a few hours in a city not linked to other areas encourages player interaction. hmm.

Not worth reading I figure it says it has soloing therefore its a SP game. You don't know facts actually you know next to nothing. First MMO was SWG actually, again, nice try.
