Most PVPers I know of really love the concept of Local Banking for a game like DFO. It makes territory valuable and worth defending, and it is a further layer of strategy and politics that the game can greatly benefit from. Ask around about it, you might be surprised with the result.

Local Banking is the complete opposite from "carebear".

how does it make territory valuable and worth defending?  you are trying too hard.  I know more about Darkfall than you do, ive been playing it for 6 months, I think I would know a lot more pvpers than you.  How can you be such an expert and know so many pvpers in your three days of playing.  Your "further layer of strategy" is just an annoyance, you have no idea how darkfall plays out.  There isn't any great Strategy or politics in buying regs  and weapons and putting them in a banks everywhere.   That's is just annoyance and it limits pvp.   Why would anyone want to limit pvp in darkfall just because it was nice in another game with a different system.  local banks should be houses and ships and things like that, there if you want it but not a requirement.

bottom line is, the full local banking some ppl have been wanting inhibits pvp activity and that is a not a good feature nomatter how neato some ppl think it is.

Your posts are wildly amusing, that much I have to admit. No point in discussing with someone who knows it all, sees it all and can pierce the soul of anyone by just looking at forum post.

    Have fun with your certainties.

Yes, I think you are right.

Why thinking wheter your asset distribution support your local activity?
Why spending resources on your local assets?
    Why supporting local markets?
    etc.

Hell, why thinking and making compromises at all? Just so limiting the PVP efforts!

dealt with local bank tons in eve,  never seemed to hurt PvP in that game.  A game like DF is PvP with meaning,  massive alliances,  massive battles,  fighting for something be land or booty.  That has always been the core concept.  Local banking plays to that concept extremely well.  If you are looking for raw pvp experiences there are shooters and MMOs with arena style combat system that put you right in the action.  I would suggest you look towards them.

local banking would probably nearly kill this game ;)

first off what are u gonna do when ure bank gets destroyed?

second off when ure moving it means ure risking ure entire bank? that u played months to get?

third off , darkfall does cater to pvp i have about 20 fights in a day time right now and win a good deal of them with my friends

but loose some aswell , i also pvp at different areas all across the map, i dont want to have to run back to dwarven lands to bank every time i kill a guy in alfar lands for example :P

The difference is, EVE Online got some very thought out concept and plans for years ahead, Darkfall is just randomness of amateur effort.

Use to think the same thing with early gaming mechanics.  But lately they are pushing out some nice stuff that builds on top the old.  They have a very solid and professional game as it currently stands.

It was good to remember the learning curve and to adapt myself to the present reality of the server. When I started, everyone was on the same level, and thus the world dynamics were different. There wasn't a lot of ganking, and when it happened, chances were that you had a decent fighting chance. Now, I don't even care to fight back, I just try to run away. I know that the disparity is overwhelming.

But I was able to raise Knives, Archery and Lesser Magic to 50, as well as Mining and Logging. I am able to craft mostly everything I use (except armor, because I could not find a reasonable way to get Cloth yet, besides the shop). I can make my bows, arrows, knifes and food, and I managed to stock up a decent cache of resources for a newbie. Now I'm working on my first Title quests, and I like to occasionally roam far from the Mirdain areas to explore and add mapnotes of interesting resources and spawn points.

I also got to talk with some of the people from this forum that are playing the game, which is always good. No grouping with anyone, however. It's a lonely world =) (except for the occasional friendly ganker).

So, yeah, I had a good time, and it was very educational, despite some shortcomings.

I always try to have a minigoal in my mind to try and accomplish in whatever play time I have.

Oh, and Trolls drop cloth.  South of the elf starter area is a another elf city in which you can kill trolls nearby.  Make sure you get the quest that you need to kill 10 trolls per hours, the more you kill, the more the money reward.

    Welcome back.

I'm blown away by the fact you found a deed so quickly.   I've been playing since the start and no deed for me, but this gives me hope -)

    Thanks for posting.   Good stuff.

    I saw you Strix!

I waved, I said Hi, and I even climbed up to the next point and jumped on your head.

Man, I hate Darkfall chat. Chat bubbles are desperately needed.

Heh, yeah, it's really hard to see the PM tab when you are focusing on something else. At least we got to talk after the 5 minutes it took me to realize you sent a message =P

Thanks for the spreadsheet, Ruyn, it's good stuff.

And thanks for the message, ChinaCat.

I'll post more impressions later on.

Darkfall has been extremely good experience but now im starting to get  game killers like that one ,what happened few mins ago,and that wasnt first time, seems to be normal that you can buy yourself back to business or ask your friend or whatever,i thought this game is the thing ,maybe it is ,but people are going to kill it.

everybody in Alliance chat accepted or atleast wasnt against that, that its ok to brake rules.Rules are backbone for any RPG ,no matter what.

Not the best example to point out at a flaw. It shows a) being red hurts b) the ability to become regular comes at a cost. :P

Better example would have been that for some being murder is no difference in gameplay then if they were regular :P

IMO the far greater  concern with  the alignment is that both a red and a blue have access to almost same game content with just minor differences like title quests..

The really distinctive PvPRP happens within player driven alliances and their conflicts.

I get this kind of crap in all MMORPGs I played. Better is only on PRIVITE, strict RP servers. I am afraid you expect too much after Internet.
