Iam not a Fan, And this game is getting hyped for being the next big thing in MMOs. yet their doesnt seem to be anything interesting about the game other then the graphics and the fact that its FF.
Dungons and Dragons had a Movie, doesnt mean it was good, just because its DnD related.
Did you go to any of the fansites to check out what information is available about the game? Did you even go to FFXIV's main site to see what is available about the game? Did you even consider the information that is available of the game to decide if its something you can get excited about?
I have no reason to think you did becuase your posts are generalization and its clear that you're a WoW fan boy based on your post history. You have added nothing constructive to this discussion other than your subjective opinion on what generalizations you know about the game.

Just thought I'd give my 2cents.
To those who are saying that FFXIV probably won't appeal to people who didn't like FFXI, I have to strongly disagree. FFXIV is their attempt to appealing to a bigger audience, and they have already stated many times they are making it more solo friendly. Casuals are a bigger gaming audience than the hardcores, that is a fact. It is a SAD fact, but it is a fact and it has been proven time and time again.
While FFXI was a GREAT and a FANTASTIC MMO, it was not a good MMO for people who were very limited to their playtime. I loved the game when I was in high school, when I got a job and went to college, I had zero time to accomplish nearly anything in the game. Leveling became too much of a chore, and trying to get anything done end game required a lot of my time, too much in fact.
I would love to play FFXI even today, but alas, I cannot give the game enough time to warrant paying $15 a month(this is my opinion, others may play less and feel they get their money's worth).
I am hoping FFXIV will allow hardcores and casuals to continue to enjoy a FF MMO, because lets face it, if anyone can make a great RPG experience, its Square(soft)enix.
I do believe they have pinpointed a few of the issues that sunk time into FFXI regarding FFXIV, such as being able to change your job on the fly. How much time would you have saved if you could just BE the healer you've been in looking for for the past 45 minutes without having to run your arse back to town?
I think FFXIV has potential to be a huge success, and I don't believe FFXI will die off. I believe the hardcore FFXI vets will still prefer FFXI, but that's just my opinion.

Well thats a norm for a MMO to have muti Races. So iam not hyped by that. The Artwork wasnt a big deal for me, cause I worry about Gameplay and Animations over that. Yet thats all it shows in Screen shots from the trailer or something.

2 minutes on google can yeild all the info you could possibly want to know about the game.
As for the whole 'defensive mode' comment; The reason they jumped into defensive mode is because you are asking questions and not paying attention to the answers they give you. Instead you pick apart their posts and pretend that they are not willing to help you on this quest for knowledge, when in fact your playing the game of 'hearing what you want to hear and knowing only what you heard'.
There is also a difference between 'hype' and 'excitement'. People here seem to be 'excited' for the game. No one is 'Hyping' it.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

You should also realise that hype only backed up by minimal solid information is mostly based on hope. Attempts to smash that hope, like you are doing here, is certain to cause emotional reactions. Hype is based on emotions. People like the game based on the little information they have. Probably little more than you have. There is however no point in criticising the hype itself, as you seem to be doing. Being hopeful is a fun activity in itself, eventhough most of us know it is still wait and see. People seem to like what they see and probably voted on that. Hype is what hype is.
