Guild wars 2 all the way!

Hmm... good to see DnD online on their twice both for F2P and Most improved.  Personally I think it shouldn't win Free 2 Play just because it didn't start that way.  Not that it's not a GREAT thing don't get me wrong, but I think it gives it more points toward "improved" than F2P.   Dragonica is my vote on F2P just because I like it. :p

I know I know not voting but we're all doing it to ourselves anyway. :)

Best new game?  Aion.  Only because it's the only one on the list I've played.

2010?  I want to say STO but I know I can't because honestly I'm more worried than anticipating.  Same goes for Star Wars the Old Republic.  So of what's left I'm actually interested in Guild Wars 2.  :)

Game of the Year?  Not WoW Please!  Sure I play WoW but I don' t think it's game of the year material for what it did this year.  I will always vote for Eve online though. :) (Yeah yeah I'm biased so sue me. :p

Current Game: Asssasins Creed 2(PS3, Gamer Tag: Happy_Hubby)
Current MMO: World of Warcraft and World of Tanks
Former Subscribed MMO: Star Trek Online, Aion, WoW, Guild Wars, Eve Online, DAoC, City of Heroes, Shattered Galaxy, 10six.
    Tried: Too many to list

Every time the Earth travels around the sun, MMORPG.com holds awards to look back at the year that was. This year, we're going to be giving out Editor's Choice Awards to ring in the New Year, with a robust Reader's Choice Awards to follow later in 2010.
The winners of this year's contest will be announced in the first week of January.
Our categories are fairly straightforward, and the nominees have been chosen by the editorial staff here at the site.
The categories for the 2009 MMORPG.com Editorial Awards are:

    Most Improved Game in 2009

    Best New Game of 2009

    Best F2P Game of 2009

    Most Anticipated Game of 2010

    2009 Game of the Year

Check out the 2009 Editorial Award Nominations.

    My picks:

    Most Improved Game: DDO

Best New Game:  No vote. I've only tried Runes of Magic, don't know enough about the other nominee's

    Best F2P: DDO

Best Kids: Wizard101 (Though Free Realms probably deserves to win more.)

Most Anticipated: Starwars: The Old Republic

Game of the Year: Not including Warcraft, i would say Lord of the Rings Online. Mostly because of its successful updates and expansion.

I don't/won't play the kiddie games but new and best catagories is Aion. Hands down.  Very well done indeed!.

Most anticipated has to be Guild Wars 2.  It looks to be a winner and has a great staff working on it

While it is true that these are the editors' picks and not the readers', there is a link at the bottom of each page of the article encouraging people to "join the conversation". Certainly criticism and/or personal opinions count as joining the conversation.

Also, unrelated to the quoted; yay for adding EvE.

    My votes would be..

Most Improved Game in 2009 - DDO.

Best New Game of 2009  - Runes of Magic by far

Best F2P Game of 2009 - Runes of Magic - can be enjoyed without buying stuff.

Most Anticipated Game of 2010 - Star Trek online - not that Im looking to play it - more intrested in how they will tackle it.

2009 Game of the Year - Eve online.  No doubt - another strong expansion that is still bringing new gamers into the massive universe of New Eden.

The most improved is IMVPO LOTRO with the skirmish system.

The competition for most anticipated 2010 is tough, but I would still say SWTOR. SW has the biggest fanbase, pluse we know very little about that FF and GW2, so whats there to anticipate other than the name? No, clearly SWTOR should be THE most anticipated game of 2010.

And runes of magic? Come on, give me a break! Never seen such a borefest!

In my humble Opinion this is how the awards should go:

Most Improved has to be LOTRO

Best New game has to be AION

Best FTP gane hast to be ATLANTICA

Most Anticipated has to be STO

and 2009 game of the year has to be EVE

There all winners just to be here i was just disappointed Chronicles of Spellborn was snubbed i thought that would get a nod in the new game area.

Being playing AOC since its appearance. Have to say that it is, without the smallest doubt, the best improved game of the year!! You can see that the creative team behind, love what they are doing and are totally into it! I wish that other games had this level of dedication to the storyline, the atnosphere and serious RPGing.

I'm pretty sure GW2 is scheduled for 2011, since NCsoft stated they had no major plans for 2010. Could just be my memory though.

It will be a beta in 2010 they said and they also said that the beta was going to be near the release to GW2. Maybe it comes 2010 :)

Why is Runes of Magic nominated as Best New Game of 2009? It came out at the end of 2008, and is a port over game bought by Frogster. The game has actually been running since 2007. That game should be replaced by another game, and someone should do there homework. =)

GW2 by FAR..... TOR if  Bioware can pull it off but TBH i know Guild wars 2 will pull off an outstanding game. if Guild Wars one can hook me for as long as it did....i can't even comprehend how the massive PvP and open world will take hold of me

Game of the Year would be a tie - because both EvE and WoW had a lot of new stuff added and things reworked.

SW: TOR and STO most anticipated games of 2010? It's probably true, get ready for the underdog to beat both though =/.

Aion wasn't 'new' in 2009 so is disqualified by default (you'd think the editors of a mmo site would know there's a gaming world outside the US by now :).

SW:TOR for most anticipated, whether you're on the bandwagon or not, hands down. The rest is just opinions, like so many a-holes <EG>.

Most Improved: I would vote for Conan here. Haven't tested myself, but from what I've read the game has seen huge improvement in how it's being handled by its staff

Best New game: I will absent from voting here. I've tried most of what there is, and I can honestly say that there is no new game in 2009 that deserves an award of any kind. BTW, Aion did come out in 2008, so yeah, it cannot be in that category. Even if you put it there, the game sucks, I've wasted tons of my spare time with it, and I can testify for the lack of content and boring grind that is really not the spoon for a NA/EU gamers.

Best FTP game: Tough call. Atlantica.

Most Anticipated Game: I wish I could put GW2 here, but game will only be in BETA next year, and release will be somewhere in 2011. So most anticipated game, no offence to the thousand William Shatner fans, is Star Wars:TOR

Game of the Year: I would love to say EVE here, the game is really amasing, same goes for the community. However, until Blizzard decides to shut down all of WoW's servers, that will be the Game of the Year. It continues to have such a profound impact on the gaming market, that it is second to none. Most new titles feel happy if they manage to attract some small part of the people who experience a WoW burnout. It is so imensely popular, that we keep seeing WoW-clone mmorgps, not Ultima clones, Everquest clones, Lineage clones, or etc.

Most Anticipated BETA: Taking the liberty to add such a category especially for Guild Wars 2. If NCsoft stays out of ArenaNet's development process, we might as well see another great MMORPG coming in 2011. I myself cannot wait till next autumn, when we'll most likely see the first beta test, hopefully it will be  a real one and not just a marketing move.

"It's worse than that, it's dead Jim, dead Jim, dead Jim"... :P

Won't see that anymore, anywhere, anyhow... you missed the news prolly... :P

BTW Eve HAS to be the GOTY 2009... it's pretty much the only one growing instead of losing subs!

And "best new game", I suppose it means "best *working* new game", not "best early alpha sold for money", so, sorry, no Darkfall... ;)

Did WoW really need to be listed in most improved? Why not EQ2 or FFXI or any other game that has also been out forever and is proceeding with a very normal process of expansion and maintainence. It hardly needs an award from this site so why bother?

This isn't an anti-wow post, I'm subbed to the game. I just don't see the reasoning.

I agree, Wow should share the award with several other older MMOs that have improved a lot.

Pretty typical for a PR campaing to see a person vote for a game as most improved - even when they havn't tried it.

AOC is the same crap it was at launch in many regards.  THe main diffrence now is that the 80 K ppl playing it are still there cause they liked the orginal concept of the game.   They dont care if the dx10 (yes I know dx 11 has launched) is still in beta and they are fine about beeing lied to again and again and again.  The fact is that million ppl left the game - the company is creating so called "expansion" while they are also firing alot of their devs and moving the bulk of the payroll to countries with cheap labor.

    Improved ? ?  lol - get real.
