If they would re-make Diablo II or even make a new Diablo III, but have the game graphics like WoW, think there would be new life for the game. I for one Played D2 for a long time now and need to find another morpg, but, yet to find one that I will like. I woud like to try WoW, but I don't have the extra resources for the monthly subscription. It's been said, that they would explore the star craft and Diablo series at a later date, but, I wonder if they actually will. anyone know??

Starcraft:Ghost, Starcraft 2 (not yet annouced, though a very high probability) Diablo 3 - The MMO?? (i definatley hope not!)
No, huh? Well, I know they are working on Star Craft:Ghost. As, it's they only other title that they are currently working on. But, still, I would like to see the Diablo Series go in to an mmo role, its already an online game, just need to make it like WoW, sort of. Keep everthing the same, just change teh graphics and add new content and such, like WoW. Anyway, it's prolly not a possibiliby with Blizzard at all, but, it would still be nice to see it.
um...ever heard of guild wars...its online...made by the same devs who made diablo 2 (who quit blizzard and made thier own company, arenanet) and it has no monthly fee, you just buy the box and the expansions.
Really? I'll have to look into it. I wonder if it will have the same combat system that D2 has. That is the one thing I like about d2 is the combat system.
No, I prefer D2s combat over Guildwars but Guildwars is much more strategic, PVP is a ton of fun. Guildwars combat is turnbased with special attacks, unlike D2s real-time combat.
Guess, I'll have to keep looking. I don't know why they have to make a turned based system. Can someone telll me why they do that? what is the purpose of making a turned based sytsem? It doesn't make the game any fun at all.
Dark and Light and Dungeons and Dragons Online both have real-time combat systems, if they live up to the hype they should be a lot of fun.
Okay, now we're talking. If indeed D&D Online turns out to be real-time, it would be worth my money to play, that's for sure. I am not a big fan of PvP. I can understand why others like it. I like the group party to go and slay monsters and do quests to get the magic stuff
Guild Wars is turn-based? A turn-based MMOG... Are you sure about that?
hahahahahaha, guild wars is NOT turn based it is almost exactly like D2. i have played guild wars twice in the free weekends. the only thing different is the skills have a short recharge time, there is no turn based to it. the leveling system is a little bit different though, you have to buy skills.
Hmmm, I'll have to see a game play movie on combat in action to see if it's what I expect or hope.

Uh, you dont know what real-time means then. As in you initiate EVERY attack. In guildwars you hit the attack button and your character will keep attacking until the enemy or you is dead. You initiate special moves. that is NOT real-time combat, its turn-based.
Okay, so, only the special attacks are turned based? I can live with that. I'll have to try guild wars when it comes out, if I have the means to make a purchase.
I guess it all depends on how you or I determine what is fun. what is fun to others may not be fun to you are I. That's why I like diablo II, it's fun and the combat sytem is good. other's don't like it. we each have our own ideas on what is fun or not.
rofl thats not turn based... turn-based is when you move your whole team a certain ammount of times... and than the enemy moves thier units a certain ammount.. thats turn based...
the hitting and waiting for it to die is not only a feature but its in just about every real mmorpg... its just a feature.. not a diffrent type of game style...
if holding down a mouse on a enemy for 5min turn based?... no
I just don't want to waste my money on a game that I may not like playing because of the combab system or game play. I want it be to my liking when I play. I suppose I'll have to wait for a demo or some other means to find a way to play before I buy it. I made that mistake only once. I bought a game and didn't like it. could not return it because it was opened. so, everyone got thier money and I got a game I did not like. So, I just hope they will come out with demo or, time limited version of the game so you can try it before you buy it. I just want to make sure that I will like it and not end up with something that will end up in the trash.
The turn-based youre describing is a strategy game form of turnbased. When I say a game has turnbased combat, as in a MMORPG or RPG, I mean that you hit auto attack and then after a certain amount of time, determined by stats and weapons, you attack then your enemy attacks, then you attack, but its all predetermined. Final Fantasy is turn-based, D&D is turnbased (NWN, BG) and most MMORPGs are. Real-time in my mind is what Diablo is, where you inititiate every attack, there is no auto-attack, combat requires constant attention, you can not win if you just walk away like in EQ.
I love Diablo and I also like Guildwars, so chances are that youll like it too.
no thats real time because you play at that time and are fighting and can immediatly run or whatever.. its not turn based... if it was turn based than you could attack... leave for a few hours or eat dinner... than come back and continue attacking...
the attacking without clicking is just a feature.. i know plenty of mmorpgs that have it and dont have it... its just a feature...
I agree with that. In Diablo 2, you have to pay attention to what you are doing or you'll end up dead inna hurry. It requires constant attention on your part of the battle. That is what I love about diablo 2, the combat system. there are no predictions or time based or turn based game play, it's all real-time. You are always moving, always doing something that keeps you occupied at all times. It's a great game in that respect.
Dude, here is the definition of turn-based: If you do not touch your computer at all, nothing happens on the game at all. Apply that to Guild Wars and tell me again if it is turn-based.
So... Now that I know GW isn't turn-based, I guess I am off!
Whatever, I have my own definition of what turn-based means. The point is Guildwars combat isnt like Diablos.
If they were to make a new diablo game i sure hope they dont use Warcraft graphics. it's gonna ruin the game.
The warcraft series is totally different from the Diablo series.
There is no chance that they will make a Diablo game in Warcarft style.
Diablo = deadly serieus
Warcarft = funny, whacky
If there will be a diablo MMO, I think it will be 3D, but much darker and more reaslistic than WoW.
But perhaps they should make it 2D, like Diablo I and Diablo II. Don't forget: At the time Diablo II came out, 2D games were outdated. But non the less, DII is one of the best (action) RPGs out there, and is still played by millions of people.. They could do it again. 2D is not inferior to 3D in games.. its the gameplay that makes you like or dislike it. The graphical representation is only a small part of that.
Cheers,
Nash
