PVPers are more "carebearish" than, well carebears.

I always laugh when i see someone come to a forum talking about how they got ganked as a noob by a high level PVPer. not because he/she got ganked but because of the responses it brings from other PVPers.

"haha get more skill"

"QQ"

"l2p"

I have run with people who gank "noobs" and too me its about as challenging as fighting my 5 year old nephew in street fighter 4. I got about as much satisfaction out of it as well, which was none.

so as i have played on darktide, Mordred, shadowbane and now Aions Abyss. its always the same, when you come up on one of these "hardcore" pvpers (you know the ones that boast how good they are on the forums) 1 vs 1, same level and what not, the majority of times they run without even trying to fight.

and they have the nerve to call other carebears?!?!

so what is it PVpers unless you have

20+ levels on your target

better gear than them

20 or so guildies with you

and your target is fighting a mob or two

you wont engage? or will you have to call 5-10 more guildies just to make sure you have an advantage.

this is why i refer to PVP as P*ssies vs players.

I smell troll bait. Wonder if a moderator should put a lock on this one.

It is kinda true tho, atleast for a decent portion of the "hardcore" pvp'ers

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

It goes both ways tho, people join open full pvp games then bitch when people kill them.  Kinda stupid there as well.

You have asshats on both sides of the argument.

Troll bait? Well, that's a possibility, but what the op speaks of is true.

I have noticed this kind of behavior in the non-twitch games I have played. I too cannot discern the enjoyment from crushing someone that is so far below you they do not have a chance at competing.

Now, catching someone totally off guard that can compete and ganking them...that is fun. :D

agree, level playing fields are way more fun than ganking newbs (to me, but each person has their own version of fun I guess)

Ive been playing darkfall for a month or so.. ive been pk'd a little better tha half a dozen times or so...

I'd hardly call that a "decent portion" of the players in the game...

I'd consider myself a noob in the game, and i am a prime taget for your so called "hardcore pvpers".

A friend of mine however, is involved in a player city, and theres PvP there pretty consistly...

Perhaps you're mistaking  your version of "hardcore pvpers" with the general bozos who roam all over the internet, regardless of game, message board, or chat room?

  • xephonicsxephonics Member UncommonPosts: 672

that was the reason for the quotes, they call themselves hardcore, but a lot of the bragging "hardcore" players just gank ppl who cannot compete.

And I was not saying the majority, just a decent amount of them.

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

My PVP experience is limited but I have to say I dont believe I was every attacked by an enemy lower level than me.  And to be fair Ive been known to take advantage of a situation in that way also. Carebear?  Maybe but I think its a pretty realistic portrayal of violence in the real world.  I wonder how many people in the American west were victims of a back shooting as opposed to the "fast draw" portrayed in the movies?  People look for an edge in anything, PVP is no different.

Okay I'll bite then. I think all your post proves is that Levels suck. You'll get no argument from most pvpers there. This is why most prefer levelless games like EVE Online.

In EVE, a frigate (flown by a newbie) provides a vital service as a tackler.

Additionally, the pvp has structure and is meaningful. So unlike the poor pvp games you have played, EVE Online lacks Levels which has no place in a true pvp environment

What is a hardcore pvper? I'm not asking this too sound funny. I personally do not consider myself a 'hardcore MMO player'. I play casually. Just because I tend to gravitate towards full loot games doesn't make me hardcore.

Ask me, I believe 'raiders' to be more hardcore then I ever could be.

Now if you refer to people that boost on forums bout their 'personal skill' then that doesn't make them hardcore. IT just means they are just 'arrogant'

  • TrihfluTrihflu Member Posts: 97

PVP is probably my favorite aspect of an MMO, so it's a shame to see people abusing world pvp in that way.  I totally agree except for that one spot where you sound like all pvpers are like that.

    This statement is false.

Naw, cause other ally can play Hero, and come to the aid of lower lvl players. I found that fun in Vanilla WoW, when Horde would attack DeadMine area, ganking lowies

Yes in EVE Online you will be hard pressed to find a 1v1 fight. You can find them, but for many its tough. So I agree if people are asserting 'many pvpers' are cowards in this regard

Problem is many would love to 1v1. I love too. But alas, I play FPS for fair fights with even numbers

In games like EVE, that lone wolf can be a scout. So he must be killed. So yes I do reduce my risks and fly with a gang

However, my gangs have fought much bigger gangs then ours all the time. And yes, sometimes we have ganked players we were fairly sure that was solo and helpless for pleasure.

I cannot speak for everyone else though. I can only speak for myself

Sounds like a carebear got ganked QQ more

Also, if you don't want to get PKed maybe go play WoW or some other game that does not have PVP

Rules have no place in a PVP game:

WoW - Can't attack players in a lot of areas, safe zones, etc.

Why have artificial rules preventing PVP from occurring?

A game with real PVP will allow PVP to occur anywhere, under any circumstances.

Anyone asking for rules is just a carebear and belongs on a PVE server

  • DeuiDeui Member Posts: 61

My understanding of hardcore player is someone who plays a lot, knows everything about the game, has a character with outstanding gear and stats, is very skilled.

I believe carebear originally refers to person who doesn't gank, avoids unnecessary PvP and prefers to help rather than the opposite. He doesn't want to remove mechanics from the game that would be considered hardcore, but wants that the game is fair for everyone. They are in no way harming the gaming community and rarely they even play PvP oriented games. I don't know why carebear is thrown around a lot in these forums.

Then those who you are referring to are just people who want to have it easy, are wannabe-hardcores, cry on forums because some game mechanic annoys him without good reasoning, you know what I'm talking about.

So I think you can be carebear and hardcore at the same time and both types are affecting the game world only positively. It's that third type, which I don't know name for, is mainly causing the troubles. They want to be hardcore, but they aren't, and their caring is limited to themselves.

These are extreme examples though, one can of course be mix of all of these and I think we all are. Just depends on where the weight is.

That is why I think it is funny when people cry or say, "Hey I am hardcore pvp gamer."   As if they means anything.   LOL!   Most pvp is about getting the first shot in and doing it when the opponent least expects it.   Oh and as the OP said, a lot of the pvp in MMORPG's is about skills and levels.    It is so easy to talk smack when you are ganking lowbee's with no gear.

Nah...PvP in MMORPG's is the worst kind of pvp there is because it's all about gear and levels any more.   ::sigh::

Is everyone on this post a troll or something?

If you don't like PVP sit on a carebear server, I don't come here and make fun of people who don't want to PVP.  There should be alternatives.

Clearly little babies and carebears like the OP don't belong in a game with PVP, because getting killed by another player always leads them to come to a forum and cry like a baby.  Wahh, I died, the game is unbalanced, etc.  You're always making excuses.  If you can't handle PVP then play a PVE game, that is all.

I'm not opposed to there being a PVE server and there being a PVE/PVP server.  That way people like the OP can play in their safe, protected, and boring world while other players enjoy the real world.

Seriously though, a lot of the people on this forum are crybabies.  Who forced you guys to play a game with PVP?  All you do is whine about it being unbalanced.

I guess you want level 1's in an MMORPG to be able to kill level 60's, and maybe make the gear useless in PVP too.  Everything you say goes against progression-based games.  You really expect an MMORPG to NOT HAVE ADVANTAGES BASED ON GEAR/LVL? Wow..
