I’m I the only one who is really disappointed by this game?

I had high hopes for GA, but now I understand why Hi-Rez tried so bad to hide how the game really is. I have been trying the beta for the past days, and it’s basically the same thing over and over again. 5 maps for pvp, 5 maps for PVE; the first 2 PVE maps are dramatically easy and fast. If you expected the game to be big and interesting like me, you would be disappointed. There is one room (dome) where you take missions look for agencies and upgrade your skills and armors (you only change the looks of your armors no stat change or anything..) Same thing with weapons and such, you get higher ones just by leveling up. Even CrimeCraft seems bigger than GA, at least in CC its not ridiculously easy to get weapons etc . PVP is GA is kindoff fun, but it gets repetitive after some time, especially when u play the same maps over and over again. Call it an MMOFPS if you want, but imo it’s an fps where you level.

Doesn't matter "my friend" its still going to be the same, they are only going to fix some bugs and server issues. Nothing more nothing less, its not like they are going to change the game in 1 month... :]

You haven't played AVA, and most of the content you listed (all?) is free to play after purchase, know what that is? A game you just bought, pay the subscription for the bulk of the designers work - the game is fun, and the releases are being gated since this is beta, and they want you to test what they want to test.

You are literally in a 1% demographic for people that dislike this game and have played it. Most of what you listed could be considered trolling since you are picking and listing your final decision based on two days of "open beta".

Test the AVA and come back.

Or just... you know... be a hater. People don't much care.

Only thing I'm disappointed is that it's not free.

Been in beta for a while, and AVA will make or break this game, plain and simple. IF it works like they say it will, the game will be good, if not, its a decent FPS at best tbh.

Below lvl 10 you play a cycle of maps.  Each play mode has many maps that you will get to test as you access the modes.  AVA is the mmo aspect and it will be tested in the coming weeks.  The pve is harder the higher you go  in security though not my cup of tea.  I love the pvp and I'd say stay at it til you get lvl 20 and check out how the game expands.  It may or may not be your cup of tea but with a clan its alot of fun imo.  The fact that the cap is 30 makes it easy to lvl a few classes as well if you haven't found your play style the game can be less engaging.

Edit the implants can enhance your stats the armor like you said is for looks only which I kinda like.

You pre-ordered without knowing anything about the game. Your loss.

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but I do have mixed feelings with the little bit they've allowed us to see so far.

I'll just make a couple of comments.

I've been in a few of very fun fights.  When you happen to be together with people who know how to work as a team (on both sides), the fights can be quite intense.  However, I sincerely hope there is much, much more to this game than what they are showing us at present.

It all remains to be seen, and I think I'll reserve judgment until release.

I wish I could've tested GA. I heard good things, not I can only wish. I'm somewhat cheap in getting my games.

Well I for one decided to wait for release and some full reviews based on the lack of specific information, overuse of adverstising buzzwords that have bitten so many games lately, and just a gut feeling that this game may not be for me and could very well be quite repetitive and shallow.  It  also seems like the community will have an enormous role in making this thing work if it does.  Moreso I think than more open exploratory traditional MMO setups.

Not pre-ordering/buying was my decision solely and does not mean that the game will not be loved by many.  By not pre-ordering I simply took the advice of many alleged beta testers who say just wait, it really is great and AvA is amazing, etc.  I hope that is all true and the personal loss I have by waiting 1, 2 or 6 months for this game seems very small compared to risking yet more time and money on a game that has shown very little of itself up to this point to me the consumer (flashbacks to AoC and other launches abound for me at least).  Once again, these are all very personal decisions and should not be viewed as an indictment of a game that I have not personally played nor a criticism of those who love it whether they have played it or not.

With that said though, I am not a fan of the new trend of pre-purchasing a game to get into a "beta."   I also tire of both rabid fanboys and rabid haters on this site.  Both sides are so extreme to make this site nearly useless for any real information for folks trying to find solid info before they invest their hard earned dollars and time.

You have a very good post and I don't disagree with you at all....

That said - I've been following Global Agenda for about... 6 months or so. When I heard it was around the beta mark I looked around to see other people's reactions and how the game functions operates. Once I found that out - I decided it was worth a try. Worst case - I bought a 50 dollar game with no attachments that I can play for life. Best case? I absolutely love everything about it and I sub up - making it my new/favorite MMO of choice.

I was also fully intent on waiting until release to try this game... but it seemed like it would be something I'd enjoy - even without the subs. That's what more or less attracted me and honestly I think it was a brilliant move by Hi-Rez.

So now since I pre-ordered I can at least give it a try and see it's potential. I only downloaded the game last night and servers aren't online here yet this morning - so when I get a chance to try it I will.  Ill post my thoughts too - I have medium expectations.. I pretty much know what to expect - and I was such a huge fan of games like Guild Wars, Tribes, Halo, etc back in the day.... I think it'll fit my playstyle - at least Im hoping :)

I've been playing this game since Alpha and here's my thoughts:

When I first started playing it, I thought: WTF is this crap!?! I was quite disappointed with the game overall. But it's kinda like foreign food or something you've not tried before. You first see and you think "yea, there's no way I'm gonna like that" but you have a go anyway and gradually you begin to like it more and more and more.

There's no way in hell you could compare it to the traditional MMOs out there and anyone who thinks there'll be any similarities will be sorely disappointed. It's primarily a FPS with MMO elements and Hi-Rez have never said otherwise. If I could be bothered and had loads of spare time, I'd probably play this along side AoC or DDO (both of which I like a lot) for a bit of RPG grit. But I don't have much time these days for gaming so GA suits me perfectly. Basically someone's WoWified COD4 and I love it.

I'm at the stage where I'm quite addicted to the game tbh and - not surprisingly - I've pre-ordered it. Despite being in Beta now, I don't really read the updates and mailshots for the game, I just play it and give my feedback. I'm quite certain what's in Beta now, isn't the complete game. I've played on loads of maps before than aren't available at present and I'm guessing (and hoping) that in terms of area, only about 5-10% of the potential PvP battlezones are current accessible.

Uh, you are acting like the beta has every single thing that the main game has. That is almost never true.

  • CammyCammy Member Posts: 864

Personally I think this game is awesome - so no Im not disappointed in the least.

I haven't decided if I will sub up yet... haven't had a chance to test the AvA... but the PVP aspects are fantastic. EVERY class is a blast and its very easy to be competitive no matter what level/gear,etc. Pretty much totally based off skill and they did a great job IMO

Yes I know... the "open world"... was never meant to be. Not the focus of the game... there's plenty of open world games out there - which has a ton of the market. This is a very unique game that you can play extemely casually if you want (don't even need to pay a sub) and you won't lose out to any disadvantage compared to other subbed players.

Soooo. The beta is ~51 megs last I checked.... I seriously doubt we're playing the bulk of the game. I don't think any opinions can be based on this till release.

For all the ones who this is all of GA...

Didnt WoW let us beta up to...umm...Patches in Darkshire. A level 20 elite mob? I pretty sure they didn't code/add the rest during the beta.

Alright with that out of my system, think of global agenda like guild wars but with way better graphics/gameplay/combat and you probably won't be disappointed. If you're expecting exploration/crazy depth etc this game isn't for you. Saying that it is hella fun but I'm not sure i'll be doing the monthly subscription to be honest.

GO BACK TO AION!!!! PLEASE DON'T PLAY THIS GAME!!! The community at global agenda doesn't need another fanboi extremest.

Honestly - go to hell... I can play whatever I chose, anytime I want. You cant tell me otherwise.... The LAST thing we need in this game is another whiner cry baby who wants the game completely tailored to you - only to spam the forums with post after post about "how much you dislike it" and "how we're all idiots for playing a game YOU don't like'... We definitely do not need any of that on THIS forum.... sounds familiar doesn't it?

Not that's out of my system.....

you actually just described yourself gg lol... Seriously though why aren't you playing Aion, I thought it was gods gift to man in your eyes?

I should also point out that pretty much everything you advocated Aion for is the exact opposite in global agenda. GA has 0 open pvp, I said Aion pvp was terrible because it was just mindless zergs. You took that to say "go back to WoW and your instanced pvp" Global agenda has instanced pvp like bg's and arenas. The irony that you're playing Global Agenda after promoting Aion in so many ways that Global Agenda is the exact opposite makes me laugh.
