yep.. that's right..
Back on the 20th I told a Star Trek Fanboy he was acting "foolish" after he was abusing everyone else calling them trolls.. The warning from Cryptic is that I was "flaming" ha ha ha.. I then sent a response back to the Moderator saying.. that STO fans can go around insulting anyone they can, but if I say someone is acting foolish I get smacked?
Come the 25th.. I received a SECOND warning from the same Moderator for the exact same POST. I mean the EXACT same post.... UNBELIEVABLE.. I just now sent off another reply asking if this sort of incompetent moderation is standard?
No wonder the game gets such bad press... and I plan to give it alot more..
PS.. This has nothing to do with MMORPG's staff This is over on the cryptic website

That whole forum is a mess. PERSONALLY speaking, there are elements of the game I like, so I'm gonna subscribe to it (in a way it reminds me of EVE or WOW at launch), but MY god some people are way too passionate one way or the other about the game. Truth be told though, the fanboys are the worst.
I will at least say there are some serious problems that will need to be fixed in the first 30 days before I can give it even an above(edit*)-average review, but the moment I said that, some fanboys ripped my head off. O-o
That's a lot of passion and fanboyism.... though not unexpected for a game launch forum like that. Crypic is just going on damage control, and being a company looking after itself. From that business perspective, it's better to defend your customers then someone who's not going to give you money. Still very HardBall though .
Edit: Maybe I should prep my "Startrek Captain Quotes" notebook for responses
When did this become anything other than standard practice? I don't think I have seen a company that this post wasn't made about.

X.. I agree..
I know darn well that what the moderators are doing now is damage control and protect their paying OB customers.. I had no intention of buying the game in it's current state, and Cryptic is probably aware of that.. However, it doesn't excuse their moderation.. Warn me once for saying a fanboy is "foolish" is one thing.. but warn me a 2nd time 5 days later for the same post... Unbelievable..
I shows me the level and quality of staff they employ
Exactly. This is typical launch week stuff
You bring about a good point there.. personally, I would almost report the moderator. On company forums, unless it says "Developer" or "Administrator" on their tag, I've found more often then not they're externally hired hands. I used to do forum and game channel moderation in an old game called "Outpost 2" from sierra. Didn't work for em directly, but had ban powers and everything based off my judgement. That moderator is just showing REALLY biased judgement is all and is probably worth a complain to Cryptic about.
You actually called the moderator incompetent? Way to go, man! -.-
That has to be the worst paragraph I have ever seen. I guess these forums need to add spell checker for the 9 year old responses. Way to fail Demz2 "Troll".
Sure thing Rydeson
Well Biz.. They obviously want me gone.. so I might as well speak my mind Right? lmaoooo I wouldn't be surprised if I received a 3rd and final warning by the end of the day.. for the EXACT same post as 5 days ago.. LOL

Quoted for truth.
Supporters of a game will always be given more slack WRT posting habits than critics will. What game it is, is irrelevant.

So, you admit you have no intention of buying, but you felt the need to insult the moderators.
Why? If everything went perfect for you in this situation, what would happen?
You are just stirring up shit for your own amusement, no other reason. And as such, you deserve a ban.

I'll third that assessment. I don't remember a single game at launch that I've been a part of that didn't have this type of 'favoritism' on the official forums. Hell some of them still do it to this day(I'm looking at you Lineage II ). I'm not saying it's right but it is standard practice.

Yes.. I'm going to call the moderator incompetent for being exactly that.. I wouldn't tolerate a cop for giving me two speeding tickets for the same event.. so why should I give the moderator a free excuse? There is no excuse for Cryptic staff (insourced or not) for this..
True Bren..
Many use fanboys as their posting thugs.. and when someone stands up against them, they are the one to get warned.. But I just had to point that out this week by Cryptic
yeah its quite sad that people who speak their mind regarding faults about a product they get shot down and silenced almost immediately. Yet slobbering fanbois get free reign to curse, belittle, insult and otherwise spread misinformation to near impunity.
This is typical of any company hoping to cover its short comings and protect its "profit margin". Its a shame really. Although I found the game fun for about 5 days, it has no real depth, there are obvious bugs being overlooked, unfinished cotent, combat so easy a 6 year old could play it with ease, and the instancing is insane with barely 40 people per instance.

Given how the various forums tend to turn toxic at a moments notice, and also given how much money is involved, its only to be expected that mods get trigger happy. If you don't like a game, find one that you do like. Company forums have their own rules, and their only polices.
As much as this doesn't make any logical sense.... from a business sense it makes sense to quiet the "hardcore" critics to appease the moderate fans. Most fans or interested users won't look on third party sites, they'll trust whatever's on the "home forum". So too much poor critism right at your own "store" is bad for business. Any one who runs one will realize this, and it's exactly why I keep telling people to not trust reviewers. Everyone needs to try things themselves and form their own opinions (ok, so maybe Rogue Warrior for consoles I should've trusted the reviews ^^, but that's an exception).
Either way, the last thing you want is a "few vocal extreme haters" hurting a chance at keeping the moderates long enough to fix the problems. I can name a few games that have done just that.
Besides, Day One reviews are borderline worthless for MMOs.... the 30 day reviews mean more as they show what the company has progressed with right?
Fanboyism IS pretty bad on that site. I recenlty took part in a thread about the state of crafting, or rather the lack of it. Some folks were complaining that Memory Alpha is a poor excuse for a crafting game. I reminded some of the folks that were flaming the OP that I had brought up that very same issue the previous year. That the game needed an economy that people could take part in and I was quickly shouted down with "Why do we need crafting?" "Boring" ETC. Well, look at what we have now. Maybe if I and others had been listened to you wouldn't have this problem and people that like taking a break from combat would have something to do. Oh well. I guess the attitude is "We have what we want, so screw the rest of you." Pretty sad.

Look for advice on the official forum. Look for the truth on third party (preferably amateur) fora.

If a moderator gave a second warning for the same offense then either he is incompetence or their system is garbage that cant keep track on who got warning for what offense.

I'd take it as a compliment.
Hope you get better soon.

While that may well be true, common sense means that one doesn't annoy those who carry huge ban hammers...
