Here is a recent 4 part video series put together by Valroth on character development. Watch these in fullscreen HD if you can. The videos are an excellent glimpse into the world of DF from start into PVP, and I think after watching them, a trial really isn't necessary... Basically there's a lot of killing goblins, kobolds, and trolls... and then killing some more... and then more.... I know the videos were put together by Valroth to showcase DF in the best light, but after watching them, I'm left with meh... I'd say if you still have a desire to play this game after watching these videos, go for it. www.youtube.com/watch
So you are implying that in games like Aion, EQ2, WoW and all this kind of rubbish a noob doesn't have to kill shitloads of critters before getting out the newby area?
From the number of arrows the character has in the safe (38) after all this footage the number of Goblins he killed is no more than 15!!!
Which equals to about 20 minutes of combat.
So yes, all you do in DF the first 20 minutes is fight goblins!!!! (no you cannot fight Dragons your first half an hour of play I am afraid)
This is a walkthrough to introduce people to Darkfall, it is not meant to show how to kill a Dragon, but how to survive the first few hours of the game without getting lost, I thought it was pretty clear in the video.
But I guess that was obvious only for people who uses their brain......................

I'm not implying anything, I just let the video speak for itself. It gives a clear idea about character development. If you walk away with a negative feeling from the video, then I think your complaint lies in the game?
If the 4 part series of videos look fun to someone then by all means they should purchase the game. If it doesn't look fun, then either they aren't interested in the gameplay. No need to be defensive about DF. The video speaks for itself. But I can have an opinion, and mine is meh..
