You should re-read what I wrote

There is no problem to paying customers because AV is monitoring the subscription base.

When the servers are full they will open a new one.

So you won't experience any queues or lag.

On the other hand if you let 50K+ people try the game at once that will cause huge queues and lag to everyone.

That's why they do not allow trials, they are protecting the paying customers.

    Do you get the point?

Point being? that df servers are limited to long quees and lag if they have x amount of people in them and AV does not want to open another server to get more people and increase game population?

Point being that if the server capacity is 50K and the server has 30K subscribers, there is still a 20K margin for new players to join without any trouble.

If you open to trialers and you get suddenly 50K + people joining you will understand that that 20K margin is not enough. (30K+50K = 80K which means 30K more people than the server can host)

And no, AV won't open new servers for trialers, but they will open new servers for paying customers if that 20K margin fills up of paying customers.

So as a paying customer you should never worry about queues and lag.

It should be clear enough now, I believe.

Your point is valid but is not much the load that caused queues it was bindspot availability at newbie citys because everyone at launch was a newb and well every trial will be one.

Humm and let me guess....................where do you think those NEW 50K people are going to bind?

If the trials last 2 weeks, they will spend 2 weeks trying to log in and with them some paying customers who still bind in starter cities.

C'mon guys, pay attention, I covered this few posts above.

As a pre-trammel player myself, I'm on the verge of buying this game. But since I've been disappointed so many times before, I'm also on the fence.  I read somewhere that %90 of the server population prefers to harvest or pve rather than do sieges/pvp. So I need some convincing.

My statement is as simple as this, try to follow, cause its not hard: combat boiled down to just swinging your melee weapon, no skills associated with it whatsoever(CHARACTER SKILLS NOT PLAYER SKILLS) which is very shallow and is too much like Oblivion.

What I wanted to know, is if that was TRUE. I have FINALLY been told it is not, and that you do indeed get skills associated with melee combat.

Goodness Darkfall fans are so blind to defend this game that they don't even understand what you type, maybe next time don't be so quick to judge someone who is legitimately asking about the game because there might be a negative comment in it. Thank you fans who read what I was asking and answered my question.

Your question didn't ask are there abilities..... You said you heard all you do is click, click, click,...

You find it hard to see where the confusion came from ? The problem is you were not specific on your question.

    Reread it

"If I had made up my mind, I wouldn't be asked to be proved wrong.

"If someone can reasonably explain to me why melee combat doesn't involve just left clicking to swing your weapon and kill your target, then I'll be sure to spread the word that melee combat isn't just click click click click click.

Positioning your character is done in many MMOs, I hardly consider that work or part of the fight process that doesn't involve "click click click". Positioning is something that should come natural, and should already be understood. Telling me you have to move your character to fight and avoid attacks tells me nothing that anyone who has ever played a 3rd person game doesn't already know...or a 1st person game for that matter".

Nowhere in this post did you ask about abilities,  you asked how am I not just click, click, clicking..."

    Some people.

BTW I don't play Darkfall. Even then actual effort in either A) looking for yourself B) being specific in the question you were asking.  Would have saved everyone in this thread a whole lot of typing. You act as though I said something mean LOL. Grow some thicker skin.

That means you can do whatever you want. For example: you can kill those 90% that PvE or harvest.

It's the same reason Oblivion's melee combat isn't super fun either. I found magic and archery really fun though.

    It's an FPS.

If hitting different numbers at the right times in certain situations was "more exciting" then Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, and every other major FPS title would adopt that control scheme.

But it isn't.  Which is why FPS gameplay is the dominant gameplay in the market.  It's "more exciting" to anyone with a pulse.

DF is a world, some people prefer to craft, some people prefer to PvP, some people prefer to PvE, some people prefer to explore, some people prefer to socialize, some people prefer to siege and some people prefer to play forumfall.

    There is fun for everyone.

The good thing about PvP is that nobody can really avoid it...................even if they want to.

Whatever you choose to do, you are never safe.

We raid nightly... and not some scripted "Boss Mob". We raid other citys and hamlets. As a pre-trammel vet myself, I can attest to the rush of combat, the elevated heart rate, and the actual shakes while holding your mouse while fighting for your life. DFO is a great game!

That video is so boring to watch...

I don't play any MMO currently, but if I were to seek one, that video would send me this message: "get away from this game".

By the way, is it possible to adjust the field of view in the game? That standard FOV in FP mode gives me (and a lot more people) headaches and nausea in most games.

Im hoping to be in Darkfall by tommorrow night or saturday !! I read a million posts on many forums and have seen many videos. This game is looking like my kind of game. I cant wait to play it.

    Something meaningful..

perhaps a way to cover up the "grind". I mean, I can only kill so many goblins before I grow tired of them. I mean they are cool and all. I'd just like to be able to have a plan other than "Hey, I'm gonna login and kill some goblins". Maybe some dungeons, or world bosses.. just some differential in the PVE dept. Grinding is all fine and good, but at least try to hide it.

You only kill goblins to  20-25 skill then move to trolls and other nastys. Or use a bow and kite bigger things. I don't get it, you think goblins are the only PVE mobs in DF ?

I'm quite aware that goblins aren't the only mobs in the game. However, goblins.. trolls,....etc. the idea is still the same. There is nothing in the game to give you any incentive to "grind" there is nothing to hide the fact that all your doing is mindlessly grinding. At least in other games, there is some sort of ho hum storyline that goes along with it.. if you bother to read the quest text. I'm not saying they should add a bunch of crappy quests (already plenty of those)

I just like "games inside of games" I don't feel like I am "progressing" in dark fall. I don't know what my "goal" is. Why is everyone PVPing? Whats the backstory?

DFO is sort of like Eve, in that you have to make your own goals. And everytime you swing your sword, cast a spell, shoot your bow, craft an item, mine, log, fish, harvest, etc, you progress. Break your mind free from your past experiences in past games. The tools are there, how you use them is up to you!

Not until I finally took the plunge into Darkfall about 2-3 weeks ago did I realize what I was missing...although from what I've read waiting until Darkfalls bad launch was sorted out was a good thing.
Darkfall gives me the same feeling I had I first tried a mmorpg (EQ1). It amazes me that after playing all these themepark MMOs I didnt take the time to try a sandbox for a change. Instead I kept spending money on MMOs that were the basically the bs with a different cover and graphics. Darkfall is different then the mainstream MMOs out now and for that reason I expect it to keep me busy for a very long time. Not only that but I have much respect for a company that can turn a game around from a horrible launch and bring new life to it.
I can honestly say Darkfall is probly my best MMO experience to date ( i wasn't into MMOs during the DAoC and UO) mainly becuase I've never truly experienced a real sandbox MMO...I gotta say, I'm hooked! lol

    Sandbox FTW!

I guess some people prefer theme parks but I can't understand why lol.

Because different people like different things. Is there really a need to "understand" it?

That said, DF is a pretty darn fun game with lots of room to grow... Interested to see where AV takes it.
