In any case, I'll try and explore every aspect of Darkfall and I plan on submitting a thorough and honest review of my experience.

I suspect you will enjoy the game very much, as you seem to have an open mind and the drive to succeed. Both of those seem to be the main barrier preventing certain types of individuals from enjoying the game, so you are two steps ahead already where many are two steps behind right out of the gate.

Looking forward to reading your write up.

I think we can all accept that MMO's will have aspects that don't appeal to everyone, it's just the way it is. But I do think that you need to push through these dislikes in order to thoroughly rate a game. A good 2-3 weeks of prolonged play should be a target to aim for in order to give any game a fighting chance to win you over. In games this large the time required can be a great deal more (if the content is there).

In any case, I look forward to new things and for me, this is shiny, new and almost downloaded... Well ok, a couple of hours away from being downloaded but you get the idea.

My intention was to do just this! I think getting my bearings could be an interesting feat on its own. Time will tell!

Salem, I am sorry to add these negatives to your thread, I hope you really enjoy DF and play for a long time to come.  The DF environment is the best of any MMO on the market today and the world itself is wonderful.  If you get some basic skills and then join a good clan you may really enjoy it, if you have the play time.  I am just tired of seeing false reports that don't explain to new players that they will require a massive amount of time to play after the first couple weeks.

I'm 6 weeks in and can say this is a misleading statement,  if a player joins a clan that is very demanding then the above is true but otherwise you can go at your own pace.  Everything a player does in this game improves some skill,  stat, or combo of both,   there is no reason to invest play time at any pace other then what is enjoyable.

And if you haven't already,  check out the vids from Vandali's post,  all 4 are great for newcomers.

Well to the OP you may find some of the arguments a little confusing so I think I can sum it all up in one go,

Everyone wants good stats like a 1 year old player, but many just can't handle the fact that it may take them a long time to get there and rage quit then troll forums. In my opinion these guys need to cry me river, build a bridge and just get over it, stat whining was just soooo 2009!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Make sure your clan has a city. Get as far away from the n00b cities as possible.
