WOW x 100 to the 9th power!

Am I a fanboi?  Naw, look at my post history, I hardly post, and this is my first post in a while.  I got accepted in the current beta, first time for me in ANY game to be in a closed beta.  I lied about my age, said I was born in like 1952... hehe.. so I thought maybe they'd want an old guy to play.  Hehe

Anyway, WOW, even if this was pay to play, I think it'd be worth $10- $15 a month.  Just started playing this morning, but WOW, the game is beautiful and ALIVE.  Already in my first raid killing a Damned Soul.

What else can I say except WOW?  Definitely a winner in my book.  I've been trying all the F2P games, Runes of Magic, Perfect World, even Wizard101 hehe... This game however took my in immediately.  And I mean just sucks you right into the game like nothing else.  Reminds me so much of WoW the way that it sucks you into the game.  Is this better than  WoW ? So far YES.  A big fat YES.

Is it the same old grinding and leveling?  Seems so, but ya know what?  THAT'S WHAT I LIKE.  It's an age old formula that works without getting too complex.  You make your game complex and you lose your audience.  So far this one seems to have the right combination of fun and complexity.

Love the idea of basically 2 pvp realms with pvp areas.  Reminds me a lot of Dark Age of Camelot.

level 1-20 is very exciting. Later..not so much. It's like a brand new auto that breaks down after 20,ooo miles.

I'm just waiting for open beta so that my character will mean something when the game launches, i made that  mistake with Cabal and i wont make it again.

It got its strengths and weaknesses. It's well made but I won't play it (after having played the beta of it).

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I got sucked in last night and this morning and ended up playing for 5-6 hours straight and can say its definitely got great potential - that's coming from someone who has played/tested/trialed the large majority of F2P and P2P games over the years.

Sure its a grind, sure it has tons of 'go kill xxx number of xxx' quests, sure it follows the same model that WoW and most other MMOs do, but it just seems to have an extra level of quality and polish which I thought I'd not see from a F2P game.

Just hope they can keep on sorting out bugs and adding content because Allods is something I'll be happy to play for the foreseeable future. End game sounds brilliant too.

Can see it beating Runes of Magic for the best F2P game around.

Totally disagree.  Matter of fact, I think 1-14 or so is the worst part of the game so far.  Slower combat and not many abilities.  As the game gets higher combat becomes faster and more fun and the PvP is great.

Perhaps because 20+ levels and areas and pvp and ships and raids ...and many more

Is not yet been enabled in this stage of beta :P

Finally got off the starting island and entered Novrogard.  OMG! What a huge and beautiful city.  The only downfall of this game might be that it's TOO huge.  There's just so much to do.  Sometimes too much can get overwhelming, but we shall see.

Is this like a F2P version of World of Warcraft?

Seems to be very similar. But then again, I just went through a quick veiw of the features etc. on their website.

RoM is the F2P version of WoW....

Allods Online is the F2P version of another game

Huh? It is even more on rails than WoW was. The 125% XP bonus made it quite obvious how linear it really is.

Sad, how game more liner than the grail of linearity still makes people confused like this.

Edit: And yeah Allods is more F2P WAR without all the network suckage and last time brainfarts than F2P WOW (WAR is imo greatest tragedy in recent MMO history). If you are looking for free WoW, you won't find it, WoW is incredibly cheap for players for what it is yet incredibly expensive to re-develop. If you don't have money for WoW, you will get nowhere in F2Ps, I personally do not mind but people with mindset of WoW-clone and WoW-killer surely do mind.

Well there is no other F2P game which catch me with gamepllay so fast. I cannot wait for Open Beta and if all comes nicely out I will spend some cash in item shop for this game because looks its realy worth. Many people say its just another rip off WoW, well I never played world of warcraft and I never will since the gay and trolling community under any new mmorpg video on youtube....

I so would like to shoot the next person that compares the next fantasy game to WoW if it's NOTHING like WoW lol

RoM was LIKE WoW you crafted via gather nodes and the profession system was Highly similar combat was nearly identical

Allods is not even remotely like WoW so it just amazes and astounds me at the sheer idiocy of some people.

My guild already has plans in place to play OB but we're very wary of that crazy knee-jerk system of FoD they have in place.

It always annoys me when people start bandying about how games are "clones" or "killers" of any given game. I've played so many games now both f2p and p2p that I've lost count. Most if not all f2p games borrow unabashedly from the big name games. From my experience all the asian games have heavy elements of L2 including the art. But it works and there are people that will like the setting more than another. MMOs have gotten to the point where they have borrow elements from other games to be successful. It all depends on the type of gameplay the developers want then tweaking it to make it fit their game. Sci-Fi games have mission terminal? OH! It must be a SWG/EVE/AO clone! Fantasy game with a particular art style? OH! It must be a WoW/EQ2/blah blah blah.

I played Allods for the last two CBs and I enjoyed it. My opinion isn't better than someone else's it's just mine. The artistic scheme was similar to trend found in WoW and RoM (I did not enjoy RoM by the by,) but I found it different enough I wasn't constantly thinking I was playing a clone. The themes and feel of the game are ridiculously Russian and I thought that was very cool from both factions. The game play had similar elements to many games I've played, but I never saw it as a problem because it works. Especially not having auto-attack. Holy crap towards the end of CB4 I got sick of hearing people looking for a free WoW that they couldn't lazily sit and AA mobs to death. That's boring. The game is vibrant and feels alive. Bugs in the system were to be expected because it's still in beta. The exp boost some people were complaining about was so players could lvl quicker and test out the mid and end game content. I'm not a huge fan pvp, but the factional and arena was fun and I haven't truly enjoyed it this much in a game since SWG (pre-NGE) or the little I get from WoW (I play because my friends play.)

Want to prove how awesomer an uber gamer you are comment on what you liked or disliked about the gameplay, themes/content, and setting of the game. Technical or support issues that seemed overlooked. Or a gameplay element that didn't make sense (the Fatigue system took some getting used to,) but stop whining because Game A isn't enough or is too much like Game B.

Things about Allods I liked: Steampunk and metaphysical themes to a very Russian world. Huge world! No Auto-Attack. Gameplay got more interesting and smoother the higher lvl you got. Talent system large enough that not all players will be the same the closer to end game you get. As far as beta went there were fewer whiny, immature players the closer to lvl cap you progress (which is my biggest gripe about MMOs today.) Very well done tutorial (I preferred the Imperial to the League for better storyline.)

The 'Meh:' Respec is ridiculously hard (from the beta.) Planned CS items can be found in game, but are so hard to get you need to buy them. Mediocre character customisation. Slow going lvls 1-10 unless you found a decent group or know how to place stat points (Luck is HIGHLY important.) The quests are nothing special and found in any game.

What Allods is not: It is not a clone of any game, but it does draw from several. What makes it unique is the setting and themes. Because it has factional pvp restricted to 2 factions it is not DAoC or WAR or WoW or anything. All games these days have something similar as a form of pvp creating content (opposing factions duh.) It is a quest grind, but I find this far better than mob grinding and it does have main storyline quests and racial quests that are interesting if not mind blowing. It is still in beta so bugs are supposed to be there so they can be caught and worked out. Complain about bugs after release not during a testing phase. There are raids and pvp at end game, but it is not a pvp centric game so stop whining you can't 'pwn nubs' at first level. Go play Counterstrike or Darkfall. This game, I found, requires some patience until you get higher level. If you can't sit still for more than a minute please go game somewhere else.

I still play WoW because my friends are there, but I will continue to play Allods on OB (I was there last night when the server went down CB) and I will be there on release. It is the most enjoyable f2p game I have played in a long time. If you are going to criticize a game find valid reasons not because you didn't find an easy-mode f2p version of whatever p2p game you love to hate (but secretly play ad nauseam.)

I had tried this during closed beta and did not find anything really "new and exciting". The game has a nice level of polish, which you would expect from one being released in a secondary geographic area (the primary is in Russia) after being available for a while. If it stayed F2P I might play for a while, but I did not see enough in the first few hours of playing to make me want to come back for more.

I wouldn't rate the game low overall, I just don't think it is for me. To the OP though, this is NOTHING like DAoC; I'm not sure why you would even state that game. This is a WoW clone plain and simple - although a very solid one at that.

That's the problem - the game starts to shine and differ from WoW once youa ctually invest time in it. However, this can be said about a lot of games...

I hate WoW because it made my plush hamster kill himself, created twin clones of Hitler, punched Superboy Prime in reality, stared my dog down, spoiled my grandmother, assimilated me into the Borg, then made me into a real boy, just to make me a woman again.

You do realize this game is based off of a game called Rage of Mages which started production in 1990 and that the actual Warcraft was based on that  game and Warhammer right? therefore WoW is a clone of Allods technically speaking...
