OP: Give me one good reason why the game with the best "tight controls of your avatar" is not even included as an option. It is also the only one which is recognized on ESPN as an e-sport mmorpg (if that's not player vs player than nothing is). PvP is just that: you fight the enemy with tight responsive controls of your 3rd person avatar. Simple: there is no reason to exclude the obvious one.
skill based sand box style game. Magic and arrows could be dodged with skill. you could loot players, there was real penalty for dieing. level helped but they wernt everything, a skilled lower level still had a chance to kill or survive a higher level if he is skilled.
and the best part is untill they added those stupid houses there wasnt a safe place on the whole map, you had to be on your toes the entire time you played because you could be attacked.
not once instance in that whole game.
no classes
the server Darktide was a blood bath, but it was damn fun.
Why limit the list to something extremely pvp soft like EQ2 (hardly any PvP) and DAoC (hardly anybody present in the multi mass water), when there is an ESPN rated game with professional pvp players..
Why even a list?
You didn't answer my previous question and the answers above show your list already must be expanded by at least 6 other games.
Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race.
Most of the games listed are just a load of utter wank when it comes to PvP anyway! IMO.

AOC has decent PVP, IMO. Although I really enjoyed the PVP in DAoC.

Then the topic should be "Best Third-Person PVP Game."
I'm guessing you already know what game I was thinking of when I clicked the thread. :P

What about now?
Impossible for me to pick one best pvp game.
Fantasy sub genre pvp: Darkfall
Notable mention: Guild Wars, DAoC, Aion, WAR
Sci-fi sub genre pvp: EVE
Notable mentions: Planetside
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
None at all.
Warhammer Online is the best pvp game and you left it off the choices????
I am surprised how many people voted AoC, over 30%
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
AOC has decent PVP, IMO. Although I really enjoyed the PVP in DAoC.

Well the pole is very limited. Add in UO, AC, WoW, WAR, etc. and it might look quite different.
