an expansion pack would make sense... the easiest way to make PvP consentual (which is what the majority of players want) is by making it zone based. You enter the zone you give consent.

Dont correct people when you are wrong.

There is a PvP system in place at this time. While you are right that the battlegrounds havent been put in, to say there is NO PvP system yet...is wrong.

    I hope never.

Let WoW have all the PvP griefer nerf-crying whiners.

We'll take players from the rest of the MMO community.

I was referring to the pvp reward system, it's obvious that pvp is in the game now.

Since EQ2 was designed to attract the casual market and the lack of PvP was a large part of the draw adding it later could be a terrible mistake.  I would hate to buy a game and pay to play it for several month to log in one day and discover the foundation of the game had changed.

However, an idea like what Invincible suggested or even having a seperate PvP server are options that could avoid removing a feature that was a draw for a large portion of the player base.

People duel constantly in WoW, whether they get anything from it or not.  Lack of rewards doesn't seem to keep town raids from breaking out all over the server I play on, and there's always an active defense from players.  I am happy with WoW's currently incomplete PvP on Normal (aka PvE) servers.  It's completely optional. I think it is hilarious when PvP-enabled ??-level (i.e. more than 10 leves higher than me) Alliance folks come around and try to taunt me into hitting them. I might actually do it if they were close to my level, but then I figure they would be avoiding me instead of emoting at me. LOL Anyway, I think people just like trying their skills/gear against other people.

I am looking forward to the Battlegrounds.

You don't even have /duel in EQ2? I didn't know that... No PvP arenas either?

I think Invincible's Suggestion is outstanding. It sounds like something that would be very fun to do in a PvP environment. The problem is that some people don't want a PvP environ. Some don't want to live in a PvP-free-environ, and some of us only want to PvP on the occasion of a crazed hair working itself into an irretrivable location.

The solution is already in place in the game... You leave North Qeynos and head into Antonica. It's usually full so you have the following options:

    Antonica 1
    Antonica 2
    Antonica PvP

This way you can wage PvP war all the way into the opposing Cities without disrupting the PvE only crowd. I don't like the idea that the PvP war only wages in certain zones and all who enter there are in peril of PK. I may want to take a leisurely stroll through that part of the country in the future. Te PvE'ers need to have access to all the zones in the game, without fear of PvP. AND!!! the PvP'ers need to be able to attack the opposing cities!!!! Let them burn!!!! Yeee HAW!!
    Later doods, that my $0.02.

Thats not bad, as a Non-PvP'er thats a very tolerable option. The cities are not structured to handle it though, you would be talking alot of code reworking to make the cities attackable, I don't think that would happen, but the PvP zone choices up the cities would be good, with an optionable switch in your options to not get asked if you want to zone into the PVP zone or regular so you don't always have to choose.

Honestly though I think this EQ II PvP debate is a mute point, I don't see it ever happening in the future. The only thing I see maybe possible is them putting one server up where everyone is flagged attackable, with no additional code to optomize PvP.

That is from Freeport, I think that shows that they will atleast have duels or something. That building serves no purpose right now (I think).

To continue to add to invincible's idea, instead of having it be at random time, it should be similiar to leveling where as say Qeynos is killing more or sabotaging more, economy goes up for Qeynos (like dropped items sell more, better drop items, cheaper items from merchants), plus like you have standing in societies you are in it's the same for which city you belong too. However, if they do add it don't be too excited because it would take month's for them to fix the bugs, or they would have to bring out a completely new game.

Now, if they really wanted to make it interesting, release a totally new game completely seperate from EQ but similiar gameplay which is totally based around PvP, similiar to a Planetside Everquest but the planetside aspect of the game actually be good.

Qeynos's arena says the same thing, I am guessing they are still working out that portion of the game and then the arenas will probably work like the ones in EQ 1 did.
