Isn't it BC2 that has the bad timing? I mean, MW2 has only been out for a few months, and that's their main target market. How many people are going to drop playing MW2 to go with a whole new game of the same type? It's always something dude.
Actually, MW2 is becoming stale for a lot of players. I know BC2 was targetting MW2 but imo, they screwed up. MW2 is full of individuals who cannot aim (like Global Agenda). BC2 has a VERY high kick/recoil system meaning if you're against someone like me who hits his first 3 shots and you spray, you're gone. Granted, if you're good, and I miss my first burst (because I'm not an aimbot) I'll die.
MW2 was literally point and click in the general direction and ppl die. I don't think MW2 players will be happy w/ the aiming system in BC2. As for me, being a CS player originally, I like it.
And with regards to not playing MMOs; I play them more than single player games...until recently after burning out from Aion and WoW after another (WoW since 2006 on and off, Aion at launch). I realized how....tedious, boring, and dull doing the same shit over and over again is finally.
At least in BC2 the obstacles to the objective are NEVER static, you need to think (or you'll suck, end of story...or buy an aimbot). As for tanking in WoW, 5 4 3 2 1 2 3 5 8 2 (SHIT SHIELD WALL). Same with Aion. As for this game...oh man, this game has the aiming system of Fallout 3 LOL
Wow, someone surely thinks he's all high and mighty.

The OPs preposterous statement is trite at best. Release schedules aside the audacity to ponder that Fallen Earth should be equated on even a minuscule level to an FPS arena-based game and a separate JRPG that is in no way associated in game play or genre is laughable. To purchase both games and spend in even the most giving of situations, 100 hours of time before the entire content of each game is spent would pale in comparison to even the regular set amount of a free trial.
The pompous attitude displayed toward any virile disagreement only bolsters the fact that some posters obviously just don't "get it" despite many a concise effort by their peers.
I'm not even gonna bother to touch the key even if it is free, no time.
Devs should have done research.
Why on earth are you playing single player games when there's MMORPG's to be played?
Because pretty much every genres better than mmos.
Then what's even more curious is why bother interacting with a forum dedicated to MMOs if you think everything else is better?
Certainly you would enjoy yourself more interacting with the forums of the genres that you prefer?
At any rate, give the robustness of the help channel and the absolute astounding amount of people with positive remarks about the game I have seen in the game world I would have to say this has been a phenomenal success for Icarus/Fallen Earth. A good majority of the people I have spoken to in game that are on the giveaway accounts have indicated Icarus will have a new subscriber when their 30 days runs out.
Kudos! to Icarus and thanks to both Icarus and MMORPG.com for making this happen!

I love the new BC2, the shooting and aimming is alot better then MW2, the weapons are more realistic compared to the almost no recoil in MW2, not as much spray and pray. Plus you get tanks, atv's, apc's, uav's....
P.S. Im stick of MW2, figured they would of released new maps or somthing, BC2 just seems bigger and I love the squad thing, me and my friends come up with different tactics with it....
FE and FFXIII are for entirely different audiences: FFXIII will cater to the extremely social group-oriented asian-grinding fantasy crowd, while FE caters to the rp-sci-fi easy leveling crowd.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
Was a great time for me! I logged on to check some mail, read a blog and BAM! There was the free CLIENT key for Fallen Earth. I haven't played the game since bleeding beta stage so I logged onto my account, used the key and downloaded the game for FREE.
F..R...E.....E.....
Free is for me and anytime I can get something free, its a good time. I checked the keys no later than two and a half hours later and they were goners. They gave me a free (30 diggery days of free playtime) month for a trial and I can play FE for a month and then log out, cancel my account if I want to. Risk FREE!
Isn't FFXIII console only? So I would have to buy a PS3 or XBAWX to play it. Then drop $60+ for the (linear game) disk.
Fallen Earth has gained a loyal subscriber from me and at least two others who are in my Clan (all 3 of us were fortunate enough to get Keys- Thanks MMORPG) and from all the positivity I have witnessed in the help channels, lots of others are going to stay subscribed as well.
I dont much care about those other games and considering the age of most players of FE (those I have met) we are mostly in our late 20s to early 40s (with exceptions) and we dont really like anime type asian "cute monster" games.... FE's competition right now would be Darkfall and Mortal Online. Different game types but probably catering to the older player base.
Darkfall (although it looks great and interesting) is mainly a PVP game and Mortal Online is....Well.... Not going anywhere IMO. This was the perfect time for this promotion.
I am about as cynical as they come regarding MMOs of today, my posts pretty well establish that- BUT my jaw is still on the floor at what an amazing, deep and well put together game Fallen Earth is. These people did it right... Yes, I wish it was more of a sanbox (its kind of a Sandbox/Themepark hybrid) but its the most fun I have had in an MMO since UO and I am liking it more by the hour.
PLUS, the population is very healthy, this was not an act of desperation (trust me) but an act of showcasing a fine product which has been passed over by many of us and to garner word of mouth... It worked- I have been talking about this game to my friends this weekend and at least 2 people I know are now downloading the trial (and will probably end up subscribing as well since I really think they will love it)
That being said, FE is not for everyone. It has lots of depth and complexity and does not really hold your hand- I also think it will be a time sink and not the most casual friendly game around- Its like a good Thick Novel rather than a quick read you pick up at the airport too pass some time.
I'm not even gonna bother to touch the key even if it is free, no time.
Devs should have done research.

How did it go with the free key raid? More people playing now or? Or did people get mad when they found out it was not 10 days trail key? And had to pay later on?
It's a free key for the client and 30 days of gameplay. You only have to pay if you do not cancel within that time. Just as if you bought it from the store. I know you hate FE but at least try to be a little informed before you make brusque and merit-less assumptions. It only makes you look foolish.

Both mentioned games are very different from FE. If this was a reason not to do the free keys, then there would never be a right time.
To me it seems as if you just listed your personal reason. Because apparently you care about the two games you mentioned.
